Tuesday Treasures, Wednesday Garden Tour and Loads and Loads of Firewood!

The days seem to fly by and it's now the smack dab middle of May!
I had a 10:00 appointment for my yearly eye exam and met the new doctor.
She was kind and thorough. I told her I couldn't see squat and, after the exam, she said I wasn't crazy.
My numbers had indeed changed and when I asked her if it was for the better, she laughed!
I shall be getting a new pair of glasses that transition into sunglasses.
For years and years and years, I always wore sunglasses. Then I stopped when it was hard to find a pair that would fit over my prescription glasses. Turns out she discovered I have some sun damage now. And a dry cornea which she says will affect my ability to have cataract surgery when it becomes necessary. So now I will be using eye drops twice a day and she says that will help. I get my new glasses in two weeks and a follow up appointment in three months.

I met Brenda up at Texas Thrift to search for Tuesday treasures and we found a few.

I think this may very well be my favorite color.

Nice to find a wreath in matching colors.

This arrangement is in the foyer now but will later go in our bedroom.

I didn't have a clear bag to take when I go to events that require one - but I have one now - and brand new, too! The three Waverly napkins were super good buys - leass than fifty cents each.

Two brand new candles!!
Love the scent of both!

Brenda and I ate lunch at Chick-fil-A and enjoyed our visit and catching up.

From there I went home and changed clothes before Louis Dean and I left to attend the band concert for the Bell girls. It's amazing how much they have learned in two years!

We arrived early and did some people watching while we waited.
I had brought my book and the Shofar Blew by Francine Rivers and while Louis Dean watched, I read.
A friend gifted me her collection of Francine River books and I highly recommend them.

We took our seats and saved extra ones for Amber and Mike as well two seats for his parents.
Third row in the middle section!

Amber sat next to her dad and held his hand.
I love the close relationship they have. Louis Dean officially adopted her in 2013 making her a bona fide daughter.

I am so glad we can still attend events like this one.
The concert started at 6:30 and ended at 8:00.
Sunset was 8:15 so we made it home before dark.

Louis Dean was wobbly, a bit confused and disoriented.
We arrived early enough to park in a handicap spot right in front of the entrance!
He had to use a cane but had a good attitude about it.

Our Kailey girl always seeks out her Granddad!
We actually saw Logan and Trystan, too, even though we left shortly after the concert.
I'm thinking ahead and we can always Uber when we will be out after dark.

So yesterday my soon-to-be- 89 year old husband was weak and wobbly and yet the very next day he was acting like John Wayne in his heyday!

First thing that afternoon we took his watches to a repair shop in our neighborhood and they put a new battery in his wrist watch. His pocket watch was declared dead of old age. I shall be buying a new one as an 20 year anniversary gift next month.

Next stop was at my friend, Judy's, to pick up an antique stand she was giving me and some great firewood from her pecan tree!

Louis Dean no longer has a valid driver's license - but he does really good at backing up!
Judy's driveway is narrow and yet he managed to do a spot on job of backing up to retrieve the stand and load the logs.

Judy is a gifted and creative gardener and seamstress and writer.
She's such a special lady in every area of life.
When Amber was pregnant with the quads, no one was allowed to 'spill the beans.'
This was in 2011 and Judy and I had just met through her daughter, Debbie.
We have so much in common and our friendship was instant.
Anyway, one Tuesday she and I went to Starplex theater for a fifty cent movie.
I could not contain myself. Judy didn't know any of my family nor did they know her.
I told her about Amber's quad pregnancy and was able to share my joys and my concerns with her.
What a blessing to have someone to share my news.
I do remember that my mother was extremely angry at me after Amber and Mike made their announcement and stayed mad at me for a good while.
I explained I had promised Amber not to tell the family.
So I may have stretched the situation a bit but Judy never told a soul.
And she was the only person I told.

Her gardens are so beautiful!

Judy's backyard is like a secret garden.

So inviting!
Wednesday was a triple digit day and yet the garden was such a calm and cool oasis of serenity.

There was so much to see in her gardens.
Love this sculpture with the sunflower.

Judy's sun garden.....with decorative critters

So many things to see in all the nooks and crannies.

Isn't he adorable??

Judy even has a coop with a chicken who thinks she's a rooster and a beautiful bunny rabbit that the hen protects fiercly!

Such an amazing garden.

I would think I had seen it all and then I spied something else!

I love my friend, Judy, and I dearly love her beautiful gardens!
Not only did she gift us the antique stand and firewood, but also some iris from her gardens.

On our way from the watch repair place, Louis Dean spied this stack of firewood on the curb while the workers were still in process of cutting down the tree.

We went back after we unloaded what we already had in the truck and returned twice to load up more firewood. He must have loaded and unloaded at least a ton of wood!
The truck is still full as Louis Dean had to rest.
Even John Wayne got tired.
He came in and took a hot bath while I cooked supper.

Roasted veggies and grilled chicken - which is a lot more trouble than I thought it would be.

It took so long for the chicken to get done that we were glad I had made us good salads.

No pics from today other than our lunch...

Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with roasted veggies from last night.

Today was an At Home Day and it was a good one.
I was up last night until 2:30 and slept until 11:00 this morning.
I crave a bit of alone time and take it when I can find it.

I cooked a pizza for tonight and we are watching the Stars game now.
A good way to end this Thursday!
Score is 0-0 at this point!
Thank you, Harrison and Amber, for helping me navigate the programs to be able to watch this!
OOPS! Winnipeg Jets just scored.

I will close tonight's journal entry so I can pay attention to the game and cheer the Stars on!

Who knew I would be an avid hockey fan???

I love the photo of Amber holding Louis Dean's hand, too! Special.
You are a cheerful woman, looking for the best in each situation even when it's hard. I'm glad you have Brenda and Judy!
You hit the jack pot with wood!
Oh, and I can't believe LD is 89! Wow! He seems younger, as he has that boyish look still!

Linda, you have married such an amazing man! John Wayne in overalls.
I pray that you can continue to adapt to each new chapter of your lives. Keep your hand in the Lords and things will be okay. Love the photo of Amber and LD's hands. That needs to be framed.
How fun that you can still go to the quads concerts and hockey games. Good for you.
Love the orangey flowers in the first picture. Reminds me of orange sherbet.

Wonderful post and beautiful photos, Linda! And your blog background is so pretty! I am so happy to have found you again! You and I used to follow each other's blogs when I was at Linda's Peaceful Place. I had no computer for more than 7 years and due to the amount of time that had elapsed, I lost access to my old blog. I have missed you and your posts. I started a new blog at Linda's Relaxing Lair (link is in my profile) at the end of March and I just wanted to let you know that I am back, and I am so happy to have found you again...and where you can find me as well.
