Wednesday Things, Happy Birthday to Amber and Welcome HOME, Sabrina and Rayne!!

I had my fourth and final knee injection Wednesday afternoon.
It had started to rain when I left the house.
I try to dress nicely and wore a loose pair of capris that are easy to hike up and a comfy pair of shoes.....

EXCEPT..........I left a trail of black rubber all the way from my car to the farthest entrance to the building (which is undergoing a remodel!) and down one long hallway after another all the way winding my way to the clinic .....and arriving with much LESS shoe than I had started out with!
As I checked in and looked across the polished floor and saw all those black rubber bits, I started laughing and told them my shoe fell apart! By the time I reach the examining room - BOTH my shoe heels were just about GONE!!! I was prepared to go back to my car - down all those winding hallways BAREFOOT!

But my super helper of a nurse was all prepared as I was leaving the room after my injection!
She had surgical tape that she'd cut in lengths and taped up both heels!!
What a blessing she was to me!!
I could not help but notice the trail of rubber bits along the way as I retraced my steps out of the building.

My shoes lasted long enough to go through the Dollar Store - thanks to that super strong surgical tape!

I love that place!!
$2 room sprays. I spritz them on towels, sheets, pillows, just about everything!

Fragrant candles for just $3.50 each!

This one was $5 and smells so good!
I burn candles each and every day of my life in celebration of just having a life!

This cute metal clock is now in our bedroom and replaced a digital one.
I'm taking that one to the ranch with me tomorrow.
The only problem is - I could stand by our bed and try out which pair of glasses allowed me to see the time. Since this one doesn't light up - I'll have to find another something or other to look at!

I've been cleaning and getting the house in order before we go to the country.
Summer came to visit Wednesday evening and left for Rowlett where a series of events brought her back here to spend the night. Win! WIN!!
As a mother - I love every opportunity to have a child sleep under the same roof they slept under for all of their childhood. I've lived here 52 years and all four of my children grew up under this very same roof.

Today - June 6th - was Amber's birthday!

This is a photo of Amber on her 7th birthday.......the same age as all four of HER children were on May 31st.

It's also Mother's first birthday in heaven.

Trystan took this photo of Amber this afternoon as they were at the pool.
I hope she doesn't mind me using it.......Amber and all her children are such water babies.
They love nothing better than an afternoon in the sun and water!

This is the breakfast I fixed around noon today.
Ham and cheese quesadillas.

I love this thing!!!

Summer thankfully slept so well in her childhood bedroom that I had to wake her up for breakfast for lunch.  She had places to go and things to do! Important things!

This afternoon I had my yearly mammogram.
Have you had YOURS?
This completes my doctor visits for the year!
I had my physical, all four of my knee injections, and my mammogram.
I am happy to say everything has checked out well so far!
My blood pressure, liver functions and cholesterol are all good.

The full sized denim quilt is now done!
Sewn, washed, dried and ready to go in a gift bag.
It is a Mama quilt that will go with a baby quilt (to be sewn soon) for the soon to be born baby boy of my dear neighbor, Stephanie's oldest daughter!

That done, I proceeded to bake up a batch of spiced pumpkin muffins for a dear granddaughter that we do not get to see very often.

These are her favorites!!
I mailed her a batch while she was in Puerto Rico and I try to make them every chance I get when she is here.

Summer picked Sabrina and Rayne up at Love Field around 6:00 and they came straight over here for a visit. We loved every minute we all had together!

Rayne loved the muffins!!!
Hasn't she grown??
She will be 9 years old in just a few days!

It's been so long since I have hugged Sabrina!!
How I miss those Tuesday Art Days of the past!
Sabrina has continued to grow and develop as an artist and passed me up a long time ago!
I hope to share some of her works here soon. She is pretty amazing!

We laugh because we are trying to stand as tall as we used to be!
Sabrina LOOKS taller but technically I am!
I stand at 5 foot and one half inch.
Sabrina is 5 feet!
I WIN!!!!
At least for now.
I may shrink some more.

Louis Dean was all smiles as he gave Summer two dozen red roses and a sweet card 'just because!'
It was such a happy evening!
Sabrina and Rayne will be here for a month and everyone is so excited about that!
They are booked solid!

So I leave you with this so grown up picture of our Rayne Roo!
More pics of her and Puerto Rico to come.......

I know!
It's after midnight but we have had such a GOOD day!!

Welcome HOME to Texas, Sabrina and Rayne!
We have all missed you!!

Such good times you are having with family, Linda. Safe travels to the ranch. Yes, i will also complete yearly checkups in July, including a mammogram. Good advice you have given everyone.

I know you are happy to have Rayne and Sabrina back for a visit! Rayne must be fluent in Spanish by now!

You're shoe story is funny, though I'm sure it wasn't at the time!

Amber is a beautiful woman. Don't you just love seeing your children thrive?!

Have a great weekend! You'll be back at the ranch soon!

so happy for all of you that Sabrina and Rayne are home for a visit.. ha ha on the standing tall, Bob and i were doing that in front of the mirror last week, we have both lost 2 inches, me from 5'6'' and him from 5'9'' . which makes me taller than both of you and shrinking also... i get my mammo every 2 years and once went 3. since i am so old.

What a lovely time you've had with another birthday and visitors. They do make our days brighter. Hope you enjoy your trip to the ranch and that things are drier there. Hard to believe another Friday has come, but here we are welcoming the sunshine and enjoying it.

Wonderful to have your loved ones home. Yes, Rayne has grown! She is getting long and lean. That’s a wonderful picture of Amber as a child and at the pool. Fun to see!

Dear sweet Linda ~ How nice it is to be back to visit you and catch up on your busy and wonderful life. I guess everyone our age had health issues!! Sorry to hear about your knees, but glad you have good doctors to take care of them. HaHa. Loved the shoe saga!! So fun seeing all your family again...have missed blogging a lot. I have found some great finds at our Thrift store lately. Since I lost the weight, its easier to find cute things. Love and Hugs for your faithful prayers.

Oh that shoe story had me giggling as I read it. Precious nurse that came to your rescue.
I'm so glad your knee saga is over. I think I have to go back and get another shot in my knee too. It's been giving me fits lately.
There is nothing like having family back in the fold. Enjoy every minute and have a wonderful time at the ranch too.

You are right, this picture of Rayne makes her look so grown up! Will they continue to visit? I saw something on Facebook about Summer not being able to go somewhere any more. Your hair looks so pretty at the doctor's! You look wonderful either with or without bangs! The quesadilla maker makes them look so pretty! What are the advantages of having it? I may look for it on Amazon. Can you make other things in it too? I love how you have bundled up the quilt! I was 5'7" all of my adult years. But since starting to shrink, I am now 5'3"!!! I have a birth defect of a curved back, so that makes it worse!

I just stumbled on your blog about 6 months ago and I love it! Especially your adventures in the country! I have a quick question, I think I have figured out how your family is all connected to each other but trying to figure out how your lovely Sabrina is related? Is she also one of your daughters? Enjoy these moments with your granddaughter!

Linda, What great fun having all the kids around. Rayne is growing and I am sure she will pass you and Sabrina up. LOL I love when grandkids like what we give them as gifts of love. My daughter Karen is planning on making some banana breads for Ted's father's day gift. :) You made me think of mommy when you wore those shoes. My mother came to town to meet us for lunch once and tore her shoe, gaa where did she get those?. She sent Ted to her car to get an extra pair she carried in the trunk. LOL Blessings to all of you, love you, xoxo, Susie
P.S. I miss your mother's pictures , so nice to see this one.
