Real Sunflowers and a Good Rain! We are in the COUNTRY!!!

I normally sleep at least until 10:00 but this morning I was not wanting to waste any time in getting down to the ranch. Louis Dean had been up since 6:30 after a very restless night so when I went in to get coffee at 8:30, he had already loaded the truck. We were on the road by 11:30!
I could feel the knot in my stomach relaxing more with every mile until I was almost giggling!
It felt so good to be heading to the country!

And then it rained!
I love rain!

We stopped for lunch in Waco at our favorite Mexican restaurant.
I always get frozen margaritas so I won't drink them too fast.
This one was deliciousness right down to the last grain of salt licked from the glass rim!
I even squeezed out the last drop of juice from the lime.

It's only about 30 miles from Waco to the ranch.

That's when I start taking pictures!

This is where we leave the paved highway and are really in the country!

I love the country roads.....

Cotton fields!
I'm hoping to get to pick cotton again like I did last year!

Louis Dean started looking for sunflowers and pulled over when he saw these.

The others we'd seen were more away from the road and we didn't want to chance meeting a snake.

Louis Dean is so sweet and good to me.
This bunch of freshly picked sunflowers sure blessed my heart.
I am grateful for Louis Dean.

And just like that - we are back!!!

As soon as I got out of the truck, I walked down to look at the new duck pen.

Dean says he sure messed up on this one!

He did such a good job that he fears he has raised Sherry's expectations of him to an unrealistically high level!

He has seriously done such a good job in a short time.

We will be on critter duty this weekend when Dean and Sherry go to Dallas for a Karate event. Wonder if we will be using this then?

We walked back up and unloaded the truck while Dean went back to work.
I threw a pillow on the floor of the camper and laid my head down on it - and went right to sleep.
When I woke up, the sky was dark with storm clouds. Louis Dean went in and it was his turn to nap.
I saw the horses and took three carrots out to them right before it started pouring down rain!

Yesterday I had sunflowers and rain.
Today I had real sunflowers and a lot more rain!

God is good.
Dean and Sherry are, too!
They brought down a huge meal of smoked ribs, potato salad, green beans and deviled eggs and we all ate together at the table. Or at least three of us did. Louis Dean sat in his 'easy chair' - really an outdoor lounger! But I can't complain.

After all, he picked sunflowers for me!

I'd like to thank you all for your kindnesses to me and your prayers for me.
I'm doing a lot better.
I intend to start painting my Christmas Santas while I'm here this week.
I did talk to Lillian today and she said Mother is calm and in a good mood.
Deanie had asked them to increase Mother's anxiety medicine and it is helping.

Louis Dean is already in bed.
I am pretty sure I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight!

Goodnight......
And I hope you all sleep well!

So glad you are back to the ranch and things are calming down for you. We did pray for you in Bible Study yesterday morning. Just relax and enjoy your time at the ranch.

Such a relief to be in a very happy and peaceful and comforting and loving place, I am so happy for you both that you are back in the country with the animals, fresh air, visual space and Dean and Sherry. Write, paint, sleep, look after the animals, walk, relax, breath deeply. Hugs.

So glad you could get away from a lot of drama that doesn't happen on purpose, but still is a big stress. Glad you're at home in the country now. Dean and Sherry are wonderful.

Yay for increased anti-anxiety meds...at that rate, we were all going to need some. 🙃 😉😁

Wonderful meal Dean and Sherry provided...that’s comfort right there. Bless your Beloved for the sunflowers. 🌻

Dean really did a fabulous job on the duck pen. It looks great.

Happy painting. 🎨

A good report on all fronts. Rest and recover, and soak in the peace.

fresh picked sunflowers would fill me with joy and seeing the farm would to... seems to me you should just live there and visit home once in a while. I have never seen sunflowers growing except in someones yard. I want to know how you can lay on a hard floor and sleep. I would not be able to get down, to get up or if I could sleep on the floor.

You have the best of both worlds, country AND city! I think you need the peace of the country to rest from the stress of the city! Remember that book "The City Mouse & The Country Mouse"? This is the nicest duck pen I have seen! Looks like Louis Dean picked those sunflowers in a high wind, he gets extra points from me! They are beautiful! what a wonderful dinner you had.

Glad to see you're in your happy place. Looking at the picture of the signs from where Dean lives you're about an hour to hour and half from our farm.
I'd like to grow some of those really big sunflowers on the farm.
That new duck pen does look nice. Hugs

So glad you're back in the country and that everything is looking brighter! That margarita looks delicious, I haven't had one of those in a long, long time! Also Dean's construction on that pen is awesome, so professional! And the dinner they brought sounds like it was just the ticket! Louis Dean is a sweetie for helping you with your mom and stopping to pick sunflowers too! He is definitely a keeper! Hope you have a great creative and rejuvenating time at the ranch!
