To the CURB!!!

I did it!!! Or I should say Louis Dean and I did it!! I have had this monstrously BIG bedroom suite since 1983. That's when my house burned and we had to gut the whole thing and start over. It was June 11, 1983 so here I am 28 years later SO ready to 'start over' with a different look. For years I have loved dark. It make me feel safe and cozy. I also suffered from terrible headaches and light literally HURT! Now I seldom ever have a headache and I find myself drawn towards the light and airy!

So yesterday afternoon we hauled it ALL to the curb!
In our neighborhood someone usually picks up whatever is left curbside.
24 hours later (at this writing)  the 'stuff' is still there!
We may have to take it to the dump ourselves but at least it is out of the house!

The bedroom (which  is small) FEELS so much bigger!!
I had already unloaded all the drawers in anticipation of the day we would  move it.
The window and door are hung with white lace curtains and the bed is layered in white!
White duvet, comforter, bed skirt, pillow shams, pillows........WHITE!!
I am loving it! I still have to decide on the wallpaper and ORDER it! Figure I can paper in July when it is too hot to do anything else outside. The carpet should happen in August or September.
So til then I am refinishing the chest and some end tables, frames and coat rack.....
all done in the light 'shabby chic' style I am so in love with!
Louis Dean will have to repair some Sheetrock.
None of this seems near as much trouble as redoing my bathroom!

Last night after we had trundled all the pieces out......and Louis Dean had recovered from one toppling over on him....we sat out in the cool of the evening and watered the yard.
It is already so hot in Texas but the mornings and evenings are beautiful.

We have mint, roses, honeysuckle, lavender and sage so when we water the fragrances fill the air!

A lot has changed in 28 years! Nothing ever stays the same. That is probably a very good thing.
I am now starting a 'new' style of life. More open and hopefully filled with light.
I praise God for this most wonderful time of  LIFE!

"If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies."

How wonderful! The soul would have no rainbows if the eyes had no tears. (Indian saying) I forget which tribe.

Sounds delightful, Linda! Can't wait to get a peek at your new digs. I hope that something will work out soon for having the bathroom finished, too.

Honeysuckle and fireflies...I can smell the your garden flowers from the PacNWest.
You two be careful moving all that heavy furniture...that's some big stuff!

I know how you feel about lightening up...it seems refreshing and less stressful than darker colors and wood. I can't wait to see your bedroom when you are finished.

Your flowers are very pretty. We just got over a big heatwave so things are much more comfortable now! Enjoy your mornings and evenings!

Jane

Beautiful flowers...

And Hooray for "takin' it to the curb"! It's a symbol of your new view. :-) Lightness, lightness, lightness.

Well, I cannot take this heat ~ mornings and evenings included! :-) Seriously, there have been a few times that I've been ok but that's about it. Today I was out a couple of times and had the most horrendous headache afterward. Seems to do that to me now...

Anyway, can't wait to see your room! I've been tempted to go with white bedding for the summer but it just doesn't feel "right" for me. Isn't that weird? Wish I could do it.

I got rid of my king size bedroom suite when I moved in Nov. Just did not have room for it here plus I was just wornnnn out with it! I think it was too dark and too "heavy" for me now. Feels good to downsize, huh?

Stay as cool as possible my friend!
