'Happiness' as described by Gladys Taber

" As for happiness, it can only be the ability to experience the moment.
It is not next year that life will be so flawless and if we keep trying to wait for next year's happiness, the river of time will wind past and we shall not have lived at all."

I love the writings of Gladys Taber!
This afternoon I was reading in the 'Stillmeadow Daybook'
and contemplating my happiness.
I  must...and DO appreciate it while I have it.
Life can change forever in the space of a heartbeat.

Moments of happiness for me this weekend include:

Enjoying the blue skies of Texas and noticing the big elm tree over our gazebo is beginning to bud out.

Setting a pretty Spring table for dinner.

Playing Scrabble on Facebook with Summer.

Rejoicing with Louis Dean in the gazebo after he finished my bathroom ceiling.

Making a wine bottle light for my sister, Nita.

Visiting with family members I do not get to see very often.

Attending services at Fellowship Church.

Getting all my Easter decorations down.

Eating the delicious Goulash Louis Dean made.

I am counting my many blessings this Sunday afternoon!

I have never read anything by Gladys Taber and I know I am missing out. I will have to check Amazon. Do you have one in particular you can recommend?

I'm so glad you had such a nice day!

XO,
Jane

She wrote the column 'Butternut Wisdom' for Family Circle magazine years ago. Her 'Stillmeadow Daybook' is my favorite. It is divided into months beginning in April and going through the year. She lived in Connecticut....in a farmhouse built in 1690. I love everything she ever wrote! I feel certain you will, too!

Hello!

Have you thought of joining the Friends of Gladys Taber? We are a national group of 450 like-minded women and you can read a little bit about it at www.FriendsOfGladysTaber.org (It's a lousy website but we are waiting for someone who knows how to do such things!)

Hope to hear from you,
Susan

I loved reading your 'thankfulness' things.:)
I have a lot, too.
I THOUGHT I was a follower of yours, but when I didn't see my photo, I linked up...so I guess I am your newest follower.
Now, excuse me, I am off to the store for pecans so I can make Louis Dean's pecan bread. I have a good good friend that LOVES pecans and he will love this,I'm sure.
Tell your sweetie, "Thanks for the recipe."
xoxo bj

Neat post and neat quote!

Thanks so much for your suggestion for my Ten on Tuesday. I definately think foods we miss or favorite foods will be a future 10 on Tuesday. The biggest thing I miss from California is shredded beef tacos, which are common out there but really hard to find here.
