Our Country Monday and Tuesday.....

Life is easier here in the country.
I can't quite figure out why but it is.
For one thing, I wake up here and stay here all day.
No running to this place or that.
We.are.here.
I love that.
When I woke up Sunday morning, I noticed water in my teeny tiny girl bathroom.
On Monday Louis Dean went into Waco to get a part - aka 'hose' -  that he ultimately did not need.
The connection had come loose and was an easy fix.

I chose to stay here because HERE is where I most want to be!

I fluffed, vacuumed, cleaned and spruced up like the Susie Homemaker I am at the heart and core of my being. I love being here and I love that this place is like camping out but with class.

That big red screen door was the first thing I bought at a Mart city wide  garage sale.
It was $40 and set the color for this room. Louis Dean had a great idea when he built the coffee bar and the kitchen cook bench came from a curbside find when we went to walk last January at the Senior Center.

My Goodwill treasure holds napkins on the table.

The glass chicken - also from Goodwill - is looking for flies!

This fly screen is helping a lot......
but I have something better in mind.....

What a perfect screen door for the front room!
My 'Sister in Spirit' Sandra sent this pic and we are so going to do this!!!
How cool is this??

In the mean time.....
after installing the Big Red Screen Door - it would not open all the way because the deck wasn't level. So Louis Dean went to work on fixing that problem.

Dean and Sherry brought supper down on Monday night....
smoked pork loin and corn salad, and peach clobber for dessert.
I added baked potatoes and watermelon and rolls.

I love our country nights.
We sit with wine and a candle if not a campfire as we close out our day.

And I love our country mornings!
Coffee and Bible reading and devotions plus our out loud reading.....
then Louis Dean goes to work on his projects and I work on mine.

We meet back for lunch and this is how I keep them safe from flies until we sit down together.
The  screens help but we ARE in the country!

This afternoon I set up the art table and did some painting.

I am loving this cow!
I will add the fence in front of her tomorrow and I intend to paint a bigger version for my dining room. As in a 16 x 20.
Perhaps I will use this one as a gift or a blog give away.
She was just so much fun to paint!

Guess who finally came down to see us this afternoon????

Rufus is a true GRAND dog!
We love him!
While the goat dogs are adorable- we are not allowed to pet or give them treats until they are fully trained. They are work dogs. They have a job to do. I am looking forward to the day when they have learned their role here at the ranch and we can truly enjoy them.

Sherry came down after she got off work and I got so excited when she invited me to check the bees with her!

Sherry can do anything!

She is probably the most interesting person I know!
She is strong and she loves life, nature, the country, Dean and she loves me and Louis Dean!

Sherry and Dean have shared not only their ranch but so many different experiences we would never have had if not for them.

My husband is like a dog with a bone.
He won't stop until it is done.
He turned all the boards over and leveled them.
The bonus is - the boards are all clean again.
I dropped my phone in a 5 gallon bucket of paint ywo years and was so frantic I splashed white paint everywhere! Those boards are now on the underside.

As we sat out on the deck this evening we were blessed to see a rainbow.
I am loving our gentle easy country days.....
five more days and nights.......

Linda, It sounds so good at the ranch. No running or real worries. Other than poor LD just not having enough to do, that he invents work. LOL. Flipping deck boards. I wish I had the stamina to do that right here. I am going to have to start staining the porch boards again soon. Today is Ted dr appt at Indy. Hoping it goes well. Blessings to you and LD, love you guys, xoxo, Susie

You made me laugh...typos can be so much fun...”My husband is like a fog with a bone.” John could be like that! 😆

What a happy, cheerful room that is. How fun to fluff and tidy. I like doing that sort of housekeeping, too.

Sherry looks like a bee scientist doing her bee chores.

Keep having fun!

You do know how to make good use of the space you have there in your front room. It's all organized so neatly and fully satisfies your purposes. Glad that you got to your painting. Cows are such beautiful animals. I love their eyes. Never a dull moment for your Louis Dean either, seems he is always busy fixing something. Looks like you are both doing what you love. Hope this Wednesday brings more happiness your way!

I agree about how nice it is on days that you don't have to go anywhere! Fluffing and tidying are fun!

You and LD have a sweet life together!

The Ranch is certianly your "Happy Place".
I love that you can unwind there and enjoy even the projects that keep popping up.
I think that is what keeps you young.
Instead of camping...you are "Glamping"..glamorous camping with all the conveniences ,

I love reading about your days in the country, but I have to ask-are the mosquitos bad there? We would love to sit outside in the evenings, but they would eat us alive!

Your trip to the ranch is like a travelogue of sorts, Linda, because you always include all the details in words and photos. Glad to read that you and Louis Dean enjoy yourselves so much. I especially liked reading about how you always end the day together.
