This afternoon Louis Dean cleared the ice off the car and we loaded up! We broke OUT of the house!
Now I don't drive on ice. Like AT ALL! Today, however, I acted like an adult and drove us to Quadville. It took twice as long as usual since I didn't go over 45 mph at the MOST! The roads were in pretty good shape if you stayed in the tracks made by the morning commuters. There were a few patches of rough cobblestone ice - which scared me but I made it! Once we got over here in the area we eased into the Wal-Mart parking lot. We shopped for some groceries and all those pillows I need for the gifts I am making. Lots of shelves were bare or scarcely stocked. You can tell the trucks have not been able to make their rounds.
Amber bought a couple of play cell phones for the quads and they were adorable today playing with them!
She bought two so they had to share.......which is a good thing to learn!
They do very well with giving things to each other!
Already looking like teenagers!
See what I mean?
Of course they see US with OUR cell phones all the time.
They knew just what to do!
No telling what technology will be like when they really ARE teenagers!
Kailey stayed pretty close to Granddad all afternoon and evening!
The girls have so much fun with each other!
There's just nothing like hearing a child's laughter!
I tried out one of the recipes I have seen on Facebook recently.
I love cooking in Amber's kitchen!!
It turned out to be delicious!
1 stick melted butter
1 packet Ranch Dressing Mix
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 T crushed red pepper flakes
1 tsp garlic powder
1 Box Ritz Crackers
Toss a box of Ritz crackers with all 5 ingredients. Bake in 300* oven for 15 minutes.
You could use oyster crackers too.
Smells as yummy as they taste!
Amber got a break from cooking tonight!
I fixed an old fashioned supper and I was generous with the bacon grease - perfect for a winter's night!
Since we got OUT of the house we decided to make the drive worth our while so we're spending the night.
The house is quiet with three of the four babies asleep in bed. Only Kailey finds herself not yet ready to call it a night. I think she is teething again. Granddad is rocking her here in the living room. I think as soon as she decides to call it a night - so will we!

Kailey "LOVES" her grand dad but, they all do! Love the cell phone toys very cute:)
I knew you would make those crackers:)
Sleep well!
Lovz!
Those quads are just so darling with the cell phones. And your old fashioned dinner looks wonderful. My mom kept a Folger's coffee can on her stop with bacon grease...nothing seasons better.
I guess you figured out I meant STOVE TOP, not stop!!!
The kids are so cute with their toy cell phones. I wonder what technology will be like for them later in life too! That's a good question. Your dinner looked good. I'm sure Amber loved having someone cook for her.
You are a trooper going out in that weather. I am so used to city driving that I get unnerved on highways.
Loved seeing the quads again, if possible they get cuter every day!
XO,
Jane
So nice that you give your daughter a night off...am sure she really appreciates it.
Well now, you certainly were brave! I wimped out in the ice and snow and made John do the driving. The bus won't deliver the children to our home as they say the street is too narrow. This means a daily run to the schoolhouse to pick them up.
Looks as if the day was spent being cozy. Hope that Kailey is feeling perkier very soon. Those cutting teeth blues can get a gal down. The supper you prepared looks marvelous! Yummo!
Glad you were able to get out and see the quads! We ventured out yesterday too-the main roads weren't too bad, but our little country roads were a little scary!
What a great post with the adorable FOUR! Yes, nothing better tan a childs laughter, specially if it's our g'children, lol! Amber is a lucky girl that her mama loves to cook in her kitchen, hehehe... Thanks for visiting honey, you always make my day! I forgot to mention in my post that I live by the Andean mountains side, so there is cypres, pines, pinecones, and many more Green that go great come C'mas time...no snow, though, but yes, in the very high mountains it does snow even! xoxo
FABBY
I know what you mean about ice driving:)...We have it quite often!!!...We are down south now...and had ICY roads thru Montana....some spots didn't even have tracks of any sort over some passes....but we are in the land of warmth now...even though it is 'winter' weather here!!
Babies are adorable and I would love some of that supper:)
I have been seeing so much ice down your way. We have had such cold temperatures and last night even more snow. The babies are so happy in your photos! It is such a pleasure to get to see them as they grow. It snowed again last night on top of the last snow. It was beautiful so I had to gear up and spend some time out walking and feeling the snow hit me in the face. Then back inside to warm cocoa! Stay warm Linda!
Linda, So glad you made it to Amber's. I bet she was happy for the company. My gosh those babies are grwoing like weeds. I just can't believe how fast it seems to have gone. Take care and be safe on the roads. xoxo,Susie
Oh, that is precious! They do look like teenagers with their phones already :)
Susan
Oh, Linda...I am stunned each time I see new photos of the babies at how much they are growing. GOOD GRIEF...they aren't tiny babies any longer...so adorable.
You dinner looks delicious...and I can't wait to try the crackers.
xoxo
Love that picture of LD and Kailey laying on the floor
