Good Medicine!

It is a beautiful last day in this month of 'JUNE-uary!' The weather has been more like JUNE than JANUARY over much of the country. Not that we have had 100 degree plus days here in north Texas as we experienced last June! But it IS beautiful and we have all our doors and windows open. This will help air out the house after last week's flooding! TOO pretty to stay IN the house!

I threw a denim shirt on the grass and lying on my back gazed up through our pecan tree!
After being ill for just about a full week - it felt GOOD to breathe fresh air and see blue skies!

I think a little 'sit in the sunshine' was just what I needed!

While I was lying in the sun.......LD was shoveling dirt!

He is working on his SIXTH wheel barrow full! The deck has been there about 25 years. That's a lot of 'new' dirt that has accumulated. He is using it to fill in  the low spots in the front yard.

He will put a drain in next fall. It will be a big job as the roots of the pecan tree will pose a problem.
He is thinking about the situation and believes that the dirt he hauls out will allow the water to again flow AWAY from the house instead of INTO it!! It will take him all week to get this done but has proven to be a good exercise program! He says his heart is just about the only thing that DOESN'T hurt!

Last night we decided to pass on the blood and gore TV programs and watch an old movie......

This was hilarious!!!! Louis Dean and I both laughed so hard our sides hurt!

So in keeping with the dose of good medicine - we watched a half hour of cartoons this afternoon!
The old fashioned Tom and Jerry kind! Louis Dean said, "If people could just see us now! A couple of old folks sitting here watching cartoons!!" It makes me wonder though.......life can be so difficult I wonder why we choose to be 'entertained' by ever more violent TV shows! I am certain we will be watching the latest episodes of Hawaii Five 0, NCIS and other favorites soon. But for now I think we will sit back and enjoy some wholesome children's programs!

I'm so pleased to hear you're feeling better.

What a big job that decking is, I hope he doesn't overdo it!

I'm sure that lying outside looking up through the tree was just what you needed. All that fresh air has to be good for a gal. So glad that you can open the windows and get some breezes into the house, too. Hope that Louis paces himself. He does look deep in thought as if it's a big job.

If my neighbors saw me lying on the grass in the yard they would have me declared insane! But the weather was perfect for it...I'm glad LD had that for his project.

I love happy movies and romantic ones. I could use a good laugh...maybe tonight!!

Jane

Glad to hear you were able to get outside & enjoy the sunshine today. It felt like Spring around here. I even drug my butt outside and let the housework sit. Just too beautiful not to enjoy!

Poor LD, I bet his body is aching. That man could work circles around me.

Fantastic to hear you're feeling better. I hope LD's body holds up, what a hard working man, my man just pays someone to do the heavy lifting, not all the time, but when he's too busy running his business and farm that's what he does. Hats off to you LD, rest when you need it and your body will thank you for it.

Have a wonderful day! Cheers. ;-)

I couldn't agree more with you about what you watch on tv. Sometimes, I'll see my husband watching the history channel about something awful that happened and I think to myself, why do you fill your head with such depressing stuff? I don't understand it sometimes. You should fill yourself with happiness and then that's how you'll feel. Good luck on the back deck situation. I know you'll be relieved to get that fixed.

So glad you could get out in the nice weather and fresh air, and just enjoy!
You've had an awful bout with food poisoning.

LD loves to work. Moving dirt! Wow, that isssssssss work. Can he make the deck slope downward, from the house? Isn't that, how one makes sure the water will not flow IN, any more?

Old time cartoons!!! Yesssss!!!! Where did you find them? Netflix? Because it seems the cartoons now on the tv, are hardly like the great old-time ones. -pout-
