The Gentle Writings of Gladys Taber....

There are a few authors I have read over and over......Gladys Taber is one of them! Her writings are warm and cozy as I imagine her home 'Stillmeadow' was. I read Stillmeadow Daybook every year. The chapters are divided into months and I have made it a habit for years to read this month by month....I just finished July. I could have SO lived the life of Gladys Taber and I admire her greatly!

She lived from 1899-1980. I first began to follow her writings when she was a regular contributor  for The Family Circle and The Ladies Home Journal back in the 1970's. In the Family Circle....she wrote 'Butternut Wisdom' and that was the FIRST article I read every month. When I discovered her books I felt like I had found a goldmine....and read each and every one.....more than once! She wrote her first book in 1925 and her last was published in 1981.....a year after her death.

She had the precious gift of allowing a person reading her books or writings  to feel as though they were actually observing her life. I still feel this way! Though she is gone from this earth she lives on in the words she left behind......as do we all.

You have my curiosity sparked. The author's name sounds familiar...I am wondering if I have read any of her books. I'll have to check out Amazon. I have bought more books at the recommendation of bloggers than friends!! Gladys sounds like a wonderful person and writer and I think I will also check out the website above.

Thanks for stopping by my blog for a visit. Now I'm off to read more of your posts, Linda! :-)

Linda, thank you for leaving a note on my post about my daughter's birthday!! I am also a big fan of GT, and belong to the group that Susan left a comment about. It is lovely - we get wonderful booklets four times a year with articles, fiction, recipes, photographs. You will love it.
