Near Perfect - Sunday and Monday....

It's been a few chilly February days with light rain this weekend and for our Monday.
I'm not complaining as I like this kind of weather.

Sunday morning we attended worship services at Fellowship Church.
I love everything about this church!

Louis Dean has the patience of Job.
He knows I go to the ladies room upon arrival and before departure!
No Perfect People Allowed!
This is true - no one is perfect but I think Louis Dean comes mighty close!
Last Sunday Ed Young started a series on TLC.....
Touch....Look.....Comment.
Every person needs 8-10 meaningful touches a day. Receive 8-10. Give 8-10.
Look into the eyes of someone. Make contact.
Comment. You know all those nice things you think about someone?
Say them.

This week we learned the 5 second rule.
When making eye contact with someone - as in a conversation - keep eye contact for 5 seconds and then look to the left or the right and then back to the person you are talking to.
That way you are not staring.
I love going to church and always have.
Some churches make it easier to love than others and I am grateful to be at Fellowship.

Saturday I soaked a package of pinto beans all day and then cooked them in the crock pot all night.

As soon as we got home from church, I made a double batch of homemade cornbread and we had some fine eating!!

It feels rather odd not to have a football game on a Sunday afternoon.
Louis Dean settled down to watch some westerns and I cooked up 8 quarts of Taco Soup.

The house smelled so good!

Louis Dean bought this huge soup pot at a garage sale and we use it a lot more often than I thought we would.

My Sister Nita's recipe......
I more than doubled the batch!

Now that the house is clear from Christmas, I started cleaning beginning in the guest room.
By the end of Sunday night I had changed the bedding and dusted, cleaned every surface and sorted some things that my son and his family had given to me. Scrap booking materials, children's games, art supplies. What I can't use, I take to Goodwill or down to Virginia's thrift store in Mart.
I lit the candles to celebrate and called the guest room DONE!

Monday was yet another wet chilly day.
I worked in our bedroom and marked that room clean.
Now I am a homemaker and a housekeeper and I do love to clean.
Still, I was shocked at the dust that had accumulated and all the forgotten debris I had in places.
I guess that's to be expected in a home as 'highly ocuppied' and mine is.
That description came from the workers who installed new carpet here back in 1989.
They spoke in a whisper to each other saying,
"This is the most highly occupied home I have ever seen.'
I did not light candles, though.
I'm going to spend the night in Dallas so I can help Amber with the book fair at school tomorrow.
I never leave candles burning when only Louis Dean is here unless it's an accident.

I'm taking Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies with me.

Mike loves brownies but her prefers them plain.

This afternoon I took soup and fixings to Brenda, my dear friend who just lost her father.
We went on our cruise last fall with Brenda and Billy.
Visitation is tomorrow night and the funeral on Wednesday.
Seems like just last week Brenda and Billy were with us at Mother's visitation.
Time just keeps on going.....

7 years ago today Amber was 14 weeks pregnant with the quadruplets.
That seems so long ago now.
Time just keeps on going.....and that's how it is.
We do the next right thing. And we keep on keeping on.
And now I am going to close and head over to Dallas.
Hopefully I can get there before the babies got to bed.
Or at least kiss them goodnight.

Hope you are having a good week - whether it's rain or snow or sunshine. Warm or cold weather.

I close with this quote.....it is one of my favorites!

I love this quote, also! Your food always looks so GOOD! The older I get, the more and more I appreciate time. But it flies away almost before I can turn around.

Linda, You are always busy, it seems. :):) LD does look very nice waiting. Soup is so good and it's nice to have some already made on hand. Ted and I eat lots of soup. I often serve it with corn muffins. I never do pinto bean soup...had to eat too much of that growing up. :( You will have fun at the book fair. Blessings to all, stay well. Love you, xoxo, Susie

I wish I loved cleaning and housework like you do... I don't and never will. I always wanted to be a man and have a wife to do all that...my mothers house was highly occupied but she rarely cleaned anything... we could have planted seeds in the dust. about the 3 things, the second and 3rd I can do and most of the time do. but the touching and being touched, I hate to be touches, I don't like to be hugged and I never hug or touch anyone, except relatives when meeting or leaving after a long time. in our TOPS meeting there are 3 ladies out of 25 that want to hug every one, I hate it. I have decided to tell them so... 2 of them wear heavy perfume and the smell gets on me and I can't breathe and have to come home and change shirts and can still smell it.

What a great picture of LD and thanks for sharing the soup recipe, I printed it out and hope to give it a try. Have never heard the phrase "highly occupied" but think it may fit your house:)

I know you enjoy any time you can get with any of your grands, as do I. They make any day better!
My taco soup is similar, except I add pinto beans - I would have taken a few big ladles full from your pot and added to my soup. I do love soup when the weather is dreary. Ours was sunny yesterday morning, with pouring rain after lunch. I had met some friends for lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse - we stayed until 4:05! And nobody tried to hurry us along, a great visit.
More rain today and I have to go out and pick up a prescription - thank goodness for drive up windows!
Have a wonderful week - when are you headed back to the country??

So true time keeps moving on and we got to keep on keeping on too. But life is never boring for those of us that love what we do. Sorry for your friends loss. Your gift of soup was very appropriate as it is a true comfort food. I took a picture of your recipe. I've been looking for a good recipe for Taco soup. Have fun with the grands and the book sale. volunteers are always needed and appreciated at schools. Seems as if there are never enough of them. Happy Tuesday!
