Thoughts and Other Things.....

Do you ever get tired of meal planning and cooking, serving and then cleaning up?
I was that way last week so I decided to empty out the bits and pieces from the freezer and use them or feed the possums.

The three shrimp were perfect for my salad one day....

Leftover Frito Pie hit the spot with Louis Dean.

For our Saturday night dinner and movie, I served navy beans (from the freezer) and fried onions and potatoes with garlic and bacon bits and Hot Honey cornbread from a mix I bought at Aldi.
Fresh sliced onions to go with the beans and Baskin Robbin's strawberry cheesecake ice cream that Jesse had delivered for Mother's Day along with a beautiful bouquet of roses and special chocolates!!

Our movie of choice was one Ilene had seen awhile back and it was excellent!!
I love Saturday nights!!

Monday was another doctor visit to the podiatrist.
We've turned out to be frequent visitors!
He's been seeing two doctors there....Dr. Garcia and Dr. Lawler.....both excellent!!
If he hadn't stepped on that shard of glass, this would have been our last visit.
However, I will continue to inspect his foot and apply medicine and a fresh bandage everyday.
Our next appointment will be June 8th.....
The doctor said June 1st but that's the day I'm having my cateract surgery.

From the doctor we went to City Hall  to cast our ballots in early voting.
I'm taking a risk here and say that we are  concervatives and vote Republican.
No hate, please. We all have our political positions...
I accept yours and hope you will accept ours.

I try to do something special when Louis Dean and I go out on errands.
After the doctor visit and voting, we ate a late lunch at Angelo's in Irving on Pioneer Blvd.

It's an Irving tradition!
Angelo's Spaghetti & Pizza House in Irving, Texas, has been open for 60 years. The beloved local institution first opened its doors in February 1966, making it one of the oldest and most enduring restaurants in the city. [1, 2, 3]

My margarita was great and our server even gave me a sample of the peach bellii!
We will be back!

Our kitties are enjoying their time in the back yard.

I found Samantha tucked in under the trumpet vine roots..

Brenda had previous plans with Billy so I dressed up for my Tuesday Treasures!
Louis Dean went with me but he stayed in the car while I made a quick walk through.

Candles - especially NEW ones are such a score.

I bought two of these!
The wooden wick kind.

Love these two seat cushions!
I am using them out on my morning quiet time on the kitchen deck.
Do you see the Scofield Bible?
It was Copyright 1909.1917

I  do not know how long I've had this Bible but it has been my favorite for at least 60 years.
I will treasure this Bible and am blessed to read it every day.
For the year 2026, I am reading Proverbs daily.
31 days to the month and 31 chapters,
What blessings I've received from this book and continue now....

I love changing my decorations out according to the seasons....seasons in nature as well as seasons in life.
All my seasons are changing ...Louis Dean continues his journey with his dementia and I am adjusting to my own mental and physical changes.

So decorating is therapy for me.
I love all my beautiful lacy outfits.
Perfect door art,

I took out the black comforter and some of the other things......

This is my view from the chair in the corner of our bedroom...
It's one of my 'secret hiding places' when I want to be alone.

I love our bedroom and redid all the chests, mirrors and frames from the furniture from my 'past.'
Instead of replacing the pieces - I redeemed them!

I always have this saying where I can read it every single morning..

To bear all cheerfuly,
Do all bravely.....

Isn't that what we do?

You are a busy, busy gal. I guess what I am impressed with is how you redeemed your furniture - I think that is the way to do it.

What great pictures again. You all look so good!
Samantha and Tabitha are so cute, as always. I know y'all enjoy them. I miss each one that I had over the years. Remember each one, but Scratch was our first and our most loving and loved. I was in my 20s when we got him and I'm 76 now! (How can that be!?)
Love you! Trudy

You sure pack a lot into a day. No judgement on how you vote. It bothers me how some people seem to think that if you don't have the same political views then you are what's wrong with the world. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Linda, we are such Kindred Spirits, you and I. Aging and challenges are upon us but we must keep our love for homemaking and decorating....You are always an inspiration to me..

Hi Linda, this is Sharon. I love your posts and your home and the way you decorate in the joy you find in your life no matter how hard it gets. I know what you mean about food. Christopher is calling me a hoarder because I go to the grocery store and I still buy like the kids and Jim are still here. It’s hard to cook a meal for one so a lot of times if I go out to lunch with my friends, I order a bigger lunch and bring half of it home and I eat by the TV while I’m watching the news. I donate a lot of food to the Womens Club for the food pantry for the young girls. There’s a place where they let girls who age out of the foster system live in a little apartment and we set up a pantry to help them out with food and cleaning supplies. They have to go to school and have a job to live there so it helps them. I’m keeping you in my prayers for your cataract surgery. I don’t know if this is your first one, but you’re gonna be pleasantly surprised on how well you’ll see after the cataract is removed and I’m glad LD is doing well too. You take care of yourself. Love you lots. ♥️♥️♥️

What a great idea about Proverbs! I will start June 1st! You look gorgeous in the yellow outfit. These are my favorite candles I have seen on your thrift visits. I'm going to check out this movie, maybe it will be streaming. So you never used to let the kitties out, what has changed? Is there a fence? Samantha's photos are beautiful! She really blends in with nature, too.

What a pleasure to get up this morning and see a new post from you, my dear friend. We do leftovers too, and sometimes a little bit of something makes a perfect meal. We love beans and cornbread. Your lacy wardrobe is lovely to look at and wear. You bedroom is very inviting and peacful. Your Samatha is a beauty, hiding in the greenery. Well, just know again, how much you are loved...Oh, I forgot, my first Bible when I went to Biola Collage was the Scofield Study Bible. We have a bookcase of Bibles, that is the life of a Pastor. Love them all. Right now I'm loving John MacArthur's Legacy Study Bible. Weighs a ton, but on the notes are wonderful.
Loving you as always

Wow, you sure pack a lot into your days, and you do it so well. Glad you still went to the Thrift places and LD can stay in the car. Just being together and doing the everyday things can be nice ... but sometimes tiring too.
Love your "new" bedroom decor. It is completely YOU.

I love the cute outfit you wore when you went thrifting! You are a beauty!
So glad you are finding new rhythms to your days as your circumstances change. That is so wise and healthy!
I have a movie recommendation for you if you have Netflix. "Remarkably Bright Creatures." Sally Field stars in it and it is wonderful. One of the main characters is an octopus!

Hi Linda, You look beautiful in your Tuesday Treasures outfit! Ron and I like to thrift also - just clothes, though...no doo-dads...we have plenty of those already. lol You asked if anyone gets tired of cooking, cleaning up and meal planning. YES I DO. Very much so! I am an outdoor "girl," not really enjoying housework but especially the drudgery of continual food preparation.

Thanks for the movie recommendation! You might also like "My Octopus Teacher" and "Remarkably bright creatures" on Netflix.

You amaze me with your decorating talents. I remember a few years ago, my girls would stop by after their day of teaching and they would look to see what had been changed in my house. Like you Linda...I really like change and the holidays and seasons offer so much. I've kinda backed down from doing this due to the lack of storage. When it comes to meals...I am really struggling..not only because of planning the meals, but because Sam can not eat certain things. It's a real struggle. I watched the Netflix show "RBC" just this past week. I wasn't sure I was going to like it at first, but so thankful that I did watch all of it. It has a touching ending... Made me think of how many people out there in this world are struggling with life and they just need to find the brighter days. Hope you all enjoy a relaxing weekend...(((hugs)))

Linda, I know what you mean about using things from the pantry and fridge to create meals. We are trying to make sure that we use freezer items before adding anything more and that means coming up with creative meals that may not be in a recipe book. Good wishes sent your way for healing for you and Louis Dean. I had cataract surgery several years ago and it was one of the best things. You will be pleased at the results.
