A December Weekend in Quadville

One of the perks in living so near Amber and Mike is we can join them on Friday night 'Dinner and a Movie' - IN HOUSE, of course!!

That evening was pretty special since it was the very FIRST one of what will be many more in the future!

This was the scene as we entered.
I had gone back to the RV Park (aka 'HOME!') to get Louis Dean.
On our return the babies had been fed, changed and were ready for bed.
The last thing Amber does is read to them.
Last night they had a special 'Guest Reader' - Lisa!
Everyone loves Lisa! She and Amber were room mates in college and Lisa has a little boy just 16 days older than the quads Harrison!

As soon as the babies were asleep (and that didn't take long!) our dinner and movie started!
The dinner was Amber's famous Sausage Skillet Dish and the movie was......

Amber and Mike knew Louis Dean would love it!
It WAS a good movie - based on a true story.
I was completely exhausted by the time it ended!

I brought the dessert - Fudge Brownies, Blue Bell Vanilla Ice Cream and an assortment of toppings!
The party was over by 10:30 - it SEEMED so very LATE to all of us now that we live in Quadville!
Nice to have our little camper home only 6 minutes away!

We were back Saturday morning! Amber and Mike went off to a hotel in Houston for a little time away together. They were able to be a 'normal' couple for a whole day and night! Seeing a movie, going to dinner, shopping, looking at all the Christmas decorations - small pleasures that make all the difference!

We sent them off to have a bit of R and R while we took care of the quads!

Louis Dean has such a way with them!
Harrison DOES love him so!

Little Logan Bear is SO adorable!!!
She loves this bouncy thing!

Kailey had fun with this one!
While they don't have FOUR of everything they do at least have TWO!!

Harrison is using his boppy in a whole new manner now!
They are GROWING!

Look! Trystan is showing a little leg!!
She LOVES fabric and usually has a blanket or piece of SOMETHING in her hand - even if it is Grandma's shirt!

The Super Nanny, April, came for several hours arriving in the afternoon.
April is SUCH a blessing and helps in SO many ways!
She and I had put our heads together and came up with a few craft ideas for the quads.

One project is a secret for Amber from us (April, the quads and me) so I can't show that - yet!
It required FOOTPRINTS which then required some CLEAN UP!

We made this wreathe using the babies hand prints!
Guess how we made the holly berries?
We used Harrison's BIG TOE!!
This looks pretty just like it is.......

or you can embellish it even more!
April loves art and painted in some holly leaves to balance the canvas out!

This is how old the quadruplets were when we did this project.
I propped it on Amber's piano so she could see it when she got home this afternoon.
They LOVED it!!

It is a wonderful thing that the babies all sleep 12 hours at night!
They were asleep by 8:00 Saturday night and woke up around 8:00 this morning.

The parents came home shortly after lunch today. We are back in our camper where I have been finishing up my Christmas decorating and waiting for the COLD front that was SUPPOSED to have arrived this afternoon!

I took a break to soak in the hot tub for a bit.
Only in Texas would you use a Christmas towel at the pool in December!

Louis Dean was waiting for me when I got out with the fire burning and the lights on!
We sat out for awhile enjoying the smell of 'Christmas'.......

the tree, garland and fire!

Sunday Night Football is on and that will keep LD occupied while I fluff up with place with more 'debris!'
I have to admit he is SUCH a good sport about it all!!

My Bottle of 'Boos!'

I have more than ONE bottle but THIS is my bottle of BOOS!!
I saw this idea on a friend's Facebook post and she said she found it on Pinterest.
My version is not as elegant but it will have to do!!

I have it on the kitchen counter but it REALLY lives on the top shelf in our bedroom and serves as a light in there since I only had a 50 count strand of Faerie Lites!
I MUST buy TONS of the 20 count ones after Christmas when they are on sale.
The 20 count makes a PERFECT wine bottle light!

I used stickers from Hobby Lobby and some dimension paint to do the writing.
I did it in black and then went over it again in white so it would show up more.
The Pinterest one was on a frosted glass so the black really popped!

It is a tradition that I do fall crafts with the grand kids every year.
Since this is the QUADS very first fall....... I did most of the work for them!

However, they did THEIR part with pictures on the back of the blocks!
In order of birth.......

Trystan Lee

Kailey Lee

Harrison Lee

and Logan Lee!!

Since this is October I have another annual tradition I do with my art.
I always paint two Santas.....one for me and one for our Fort Worth Family Chinese Christmas Exchange.

Last year I started the Santas at Mineral Wells State Park while on a camping trip.
We stayed in a screened shelter and I made a pretty good start on them!
This year I simply set up a studio outside the camper under the gazebo.
Yesterday afternoon I got ALL of one based in and some of the second!

As soon as I got home from Amber's this evening I started back on the painting!

Now they are BOTH based in and after drying for a few days I can begin working on them in earnest. I need to have them finished by Thanksgiving so I can take one home with me the next weekend. I plan to leave it and have someone draw a number for me so I can still participate in our family Christmas tradition since I won't actually BE there this year!

It was Christmas morning last year that Amber announced to the entire family that she was expecting quadruplets. No one was surprised when she announced she was pregnant.....but no one expected her to say, "Not ONE! Not TWO! Not THREE!! But FOUR!!!!!" NEXT Christmas the quads will all be there! We wanted that to happen this year but we didn't understand about preemies back then and the 'Lock Down' from Fall to Spring!

While I am in here happily playing on the computer guess what Louis Dean is doing???

He is outside playing music with a fellow camper here at the RV Resort!
He is in HOG Heaven!!

I better get busy with my housework so I will be ready to light our evening fire and sit out this October night celebrating......
Life....Friday.....Health....Happiness....Art....MUSIC!!!

Happy Fall Weekend, Y'all!!!
CELEBRATE!!!

Fall Craft With The Grandkids!

Today was a FUN FALL FRIDAY!!!

I forgot to take pictures of my Mother but I spent several hours with her this morning.
She is back to her old self after the surgery to remove the cancerous mole on the side of her face. We had lunch at the Black Eyed Pea and I had TONS of photos to show her!! She and I had a good visit and were glad we had the time to 'catch up!'

I left Mother to take a nap and headed to the grandkids' place!
I arrived in time to set up the craft table before going with my lovely DIL to pick the kids up at school!

I LOVE it that they get so excited when they see me!
This is Levi and I think every family should have a fun fellow like him!
But only ONE!!

An artsy pic of Faith and me!

This is my first born grandchild, Sam!
He is the spitting image of his handsome dad!

I missed his 10th birthday but came bearing his gift!
(Too bad he already has one just like it!)
What in the world do you get for their birthdays and Christmas??

The grands live in such a pretty neighborhood!
I love driving down this pretty forest covered lane!

We started our fall project as soon as we got home from school -
painting the blocks and then allowing them to dry.

All the kids love Peach Cobbler and today was Faith's very first time to make it all by herself! She did a bang up job of it, too!!!

I SO enjoyed seeing Faith in the kitchen!
She is a true homemaker in the making!!!

The cobbler was ready for the oven!

And we went out to finish our fall craft!
I neglected to take a picture after they put the letters on the blocks.
F A L L
The project turned out very nicely!

We had a good time together!

Faith's Peach Cobbler was perfect!!!
She copied down the recipe on her very own special recipe card!
Now she can make it anytime she wants!

You can find the recipe HERE!

We're already making plans for our November visit!
Next month I will be picking them up and taking them HOME with me!!!
Sometimes you just need to go to MiMi's house!!!
