Artist at WORK!

This art apron of mine goes WAY back!! It's at least 10 years old.

I had another one of denim which I must have inadvertently thrown it away.
I will make another - very SOON!

I have enjoyed every single minute of this beautiful Saturday in South Texas!

We slept late, had coffee, did our reading, talked, relaxed.

Then Louis Dean gave me a wonderful gift! HE went off to do our errands allowing ME to stay home alone.

You have no idea what that meant to me! I am seldom ALONE!
I used my time to work on a budget spreadsheet and do the mundane tasks of paying bills and balancing income versus outgo. It doesn't come out even sometimes!

I read some in my book on Ireland, did a bit of housework, drank a lot of tea, visited with Summer via a phone chat (mothers NEVER get tired of talking to their children!)  and even managed to take a nap before LD returned!

Today was a creative day!
I gave my snow lady a whole new outfit!
She now sports a new sweater and gloves and is already in the trunk of the car waiting to be transported home where she will remain in storage until after Thanksgiving!

THEN I donned my apron and proceeded to PAINT!
I have been itching to paint for WEEKS now!

I carry my 'studio' with me in a tub and Louis Dean rigs up lighting for after the sun goes down.
I am in process of painting two more Santas and only took a hot tub break after the first one was based in.
The hot tub is heated to 104 degrees and we soaked and relaxed our muscles - then took turns in the shower because we only had ONE bar of soap! I had shower gel but left it in the camper and who wants to walk a few short feet to fetch it?

I based in the second Santa as well as a small canvas I am painting as a surprise gift for a friend.....
a friend named Dawn!
Okay, maybe this won't be a surprise if she reads my post!

My last project to work on is a set of four Christmas paintings for this next Christmas.
I love the  Lang 'Mama Says' calendars with artwork by Kathy Fincher.
She is a TRUE artist!
I am hoping to do my version of one of her calendar pages four times!
Can you see Logan's head over there?
All the babies are up on their hands and knees these days so it shouldn't be hard to snap a photo of them that will work for the painting.
One per baby = FOUR paintings!
Not sure WHERE I will hang them come December but you better believe I WILL find a place!

So this day is pretty much done.
Louis Dean has another fire going outside.
The door is open to all the night sounds.......insects, critters, traffic.
I think it's time to join him as we close out this day together.

  1. I cannot tell you how many times that I have wished that I could jump into my laptop and meet you in Texas! The other night brought such joy when I heard your voice on the video!
Do not throw that apron away! It's a work of art!

  2. Linda~

You sure pack a lot into a day even when you're taking a break. How sweet of LD to run the errands and do the shopping. And oh my...your idea for the four paintings is perfect...this is going to be so much fun watching as they progress...if you show us...which you will...right? Keep having a relaxing day. It's a little after ten and I'm beat and going to bed. John did not do the errands and shopping alone today, but at least he went with me.

  4. I envy your warm weather now as it is so cold in the Midwest. However, I probably won't envy you next summer. Why is the weather never perfect?!

  6. I envy your warm weather and your time alone. Like you, I am almost never alone and cherish the time I am. What a cute idea to do four little Santas. I'll be looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

  7. An alone day! You have so, so, so much action/activity/sound/movement in your daily life... I can see how alone time, was a wonderful gift.

And you got back to your creating/painting. How lucky for you, that you have always listened to your Wild Woman, and allowed your creativity to flourish!

I'm learning again, a little at a time.
