Summer arrived here from Arkansas early on Christmas Eve afternoon and came bearing lunch!
She stopped and bought a pound of chicken salad and a pound of seafood salad and the BEST crackers!
I added some slices of rotisserie chicken and some cranberry sauce.
We ate and visited and laughed and then we both got down to work preparing for that evening.
My friend, Donna, a Texas blogging sister ,https://donna-madeinheaven.blogspot.com/ is one of the best bakers in all of Texas and she shared this recipe on Facebook last week and I have already made 8 batches of them!!!
They are SERIOUSLY delicious!!
By 7:00 everyone was here - except Benjamin. Bless his heart - he has the flu!
And this year Rayne and Sabrina stayed in Puerto Rico - but they FaceTimed us!
The tables have turned and I am loving it!
All the cousins sat around the dining table while the rest of us scattered where we could.
You could hear them talking and laughing together and it was music to our ears!
This was Rachel's first Christmas Eve with us and it was wonderful!
She is such a sweetheart and we love her.
This is where the four older grands used to sit!
Pam and Mike and Harrsion....
Louis Dean escaped to his music room and that's where he and I ate our meal together!
Harrison is such a fun guy!
They were playing hide and seek and he pulled this skirt up over him and put something over his head and sat still in the corner chair of the sewing room!
Once he showed himself - he decided to WEAR the skirt for awhile!!
Levi wore my fancy Santa hat all evening!
It was just a magical Christmas Eve and my heart was filled to overflowing!
Next up was the opening of the gifts!
I normally fill the stockings but this year I used the cloth gift bags instead.
No wrapping paper involved and that was good for my arthritic hands!
So much laughter and joy!
I sure missed Benjamin being here!
My kids are all so photogenic!
It was time to play NUTS and we couldn't find Harrison.....
he was tucked under his blankie in our bedroom!
Let the games begin!!!
This year Jesse brought a fancy leather and gold deck of cards for the winner!
Levi won one and Amber won one and Faith won three!
Those cards were slippery!
Fun! FUN!!
As is Faith's tradition, she ended Christmas Eve spending time with her Granddad visiting and playing music together.
When I see this picture, I think - 'his eyes adore her.'
Faith is so special to us and is as beautiful inside as she is out.
Ahe sings like an angel.....composing much of her own music.
You can see how happy Louis Dean is!
I went in to check on him and found a line of grandchildren sitting outside his door listening to the music.
It was a glorious evening and never seems to last long enough!
I meant to finish this journal entry ending with Christmas day and night.
Alas, I 'm running out of time as I write this Friday afternoon, so I shall pick up where I left off soon.
Hoping you all have a wonderful Christmas!
