I'm so grateful to Jesse and Rachel being here on Saturday....
and then Sunday we were low key ..and realizing by Monday I knew we needed help with that plug outlet for the AC and Louis Dean had already forgot about it!
So I called my best friend Brenda and she asked, "Do you need Billy?" I was just a tiny bit away from tears and said YES!!
In his prime, Louis Dean could do magical things with electricity!
But now he didn't even know where the breaker box was for the AC.
I admit to being distraught and I did not take pics of yet another hero!

He came in and figured everything out and changed the outlet and we had AC!!!
To celebrate, Brenda and I made homemade margaritas using the jalapeno/cucumber tequila I bought when we were in Branson!
They were SO good!!!
On Tuesday morning I was up and awke on the early side and we were off to pick up our kitty cats from Amber!
Louis Dean went with me and we shopped the Goodwill on Midway before arriving at the Bells.
Samantha was glad to see us but Tabitha ran off - Amber found her and we were soon on our way home.
I dropped off the cats and Louis Dean and met up with Brenda for our Tuesday Treasure Hunting.
Between the Goodwill with Louis Dean and Texas Thrift with Brenda - I did, indeed, find some treasures!
Louis Dean has a doll collection which includes all the Little House characters by Laura Ingalls Wilder as well as a collection of Oriental dolls - and he found a beauty to add to it!
I found several candles - and I burn them daily - plus other treasures!
Louis Dean's great grandaughter is expecting a baby boy iin February amd I have already made a denim quilt for him - but I could not resist this 'country' baby quilt!
They live in the Midland area and I thought this would be prefect!
A table runner will be used in one way or another!
As will this rug!

Our friend Dawn. in Florida, has this sign in her home and I have long admired it!
When I saw this at the thrift store - for $8 - I knew I would take it home witrh me!
My inside walls are full but I'm thinking outside the box and will hang this on the kitchen fence.
Wednesday we had an appointment at the bank - getting all our ducks in a row....
And I made a pitcher of lemon/mint infused water for the day.
It's been much easier to stay hydrated and I use little packets of PK Zero Sugar Hydrate to add to Louis Dean's bottles of water!
Due to my macular degenertaion - I need to drink at least one bottle of this every day as well.

All is clean and decorated and DONE!!
Tonight (Saturday) I used the burnt umber stain around this window and then rehung the curtains.
I'll be getting another shade to match the others and will put it up soon!
I know so many of you love the LIGHT! However, in Texas, the heat is a force to be dealt with and can be dangerous.
I'm grateful for the inexpensive vinyl pleated room darkening shades.
I bought mine on Amazon.....but Brenda bought the same ones for her add on room at Home Depot.
The shades make a HUGE difference - and in milder weather - I can raise them up!

The 4th of July came and went for us with no fanfare orcelebration.
It's a family tradition to watch Independence Day on the 4th of July!
We have been doing this for years and years!
I was in contact with all four of my chilfren on this 4th of July!
We ALL watched the film - although at different times in different places but on the verry same day!
My son., Jesse flew up to NYC with Rachel for the 4th of July weekend!!
What an amzing time they had!!
The fireworks over the Hudson river were amazing......

Amber and Mike had a staycation in Frisco and enjoyed some down time together while
Summer enoyed her holiday at the Bar -J Ranch in Arkanass.
Benjamin was watching the movie from his apartment and we texted our favorite movie lines.....
While we missed celebrating the 4th if July - we managed to have a party on the 5th of July with our sweet neighbor and friend Ilene!
We had grilled hot dogs,, baked beans, peppper poppers, corn on the cob and the watermelon salad.
We had a really nice evening with good food and good times and a good movie!
This Saturday morning - as I was outside on the kitchen deck .....
doing my quiet time and praying... I smelled gas...so I called it in to the fire department....
This was not the first time the Irving Fire Departmrnt has been here! In 1983 my house was burned due to a powe surge from the transformer in the back yard.....
While it remained structurally sound it was gutted from the inside ....so today was an emotional experience......
Alas.... It was not a natural gas leak.....
The problem was ME!
I had not turned off the proplane tank after grillimg our hot dogs on Friday...
OOPS and I am so sorry!!
I feel like I need to be tested for dementia myself.....and we have an appointment wth Louis Dean's neaurolgist next week and I will be asking her about that.
Amber willl be going with us and that gives me so much comfort.
It took me a few hours to calm down from all this activity today.
It's been a cooler day here in Texas
Louis Dean has been doing what he loves to do!

I love the country baby quilt. It is awesome and looks new! We all leave the stove on or the fridge door open at times! I have Macular Degeneration and see a specialist for it every 6 months. But have not heard anything about having to drink water for it?
My Sweet Friend, we are allowed to feel fragile as we "age" and everything we have become accustomed to, ('normal life'), isn't feeling normal, it is fragile
I've noticed the same feeling since Ed's fall. Things I once took for granted, (say even 6 months ago), kinda changed! Ed just doesn't seem so "stalwart" now and I am not prepared for this-- how does one prepare? We have been married since 1966! I was 16 -- now I am a great grandmother.
Enough of this!
I loved your den! And your shades! It all looks like a "salon" where you visit and have tea and conversation with others. Like a "tea room".

oh no on the propane. kudos to you for using it. bob can't grill anymore, to much effort for him to do it and I am terrified of the propane so will not use it. I should have bought a small one that burns the bags of bricks so I could use it. you gave the fireman something to do ha ha..
your house looks great and all cozy and clean again.. I had planned to watch our favorite 4th movie and saw it on the free movies on demand. we sat down to watch The Patriot and when I pulled it up, it was free if we had MGMplus which we do not. we were both upset. I have seen independence day once, bob will not watch sci Fi and tried it once but would not watch.
I feel better already seeing all your sunflower decor...I think we all anticipate cooler days and the fall season...it cannot come soon enough//your home looks lovely Linda...so glad you were able to fix your AC.....it's very hard being a caregiver....please take good care of yourself....sending hugs!
(((HUGS))) to you today. I think you need one or two or three. Thankful the gas issue was not serious, but glad you had it checked out just in case. Happy that you have friends/family who can help with things like electrical outlets. I don't know where we'd be without people like that. My hubby isn't very handy with those types of things and never has been, so I don't expect it. And when he says he's going to try and do something like that, I get nervous, but he usually ends up calling for someone to do it as he realizes his limitations. Thinking of you and praying. bless your heart Linda...doesnt it seem that challenges seem to come at one time which is overwhelming. Our July 4th was low key as well...we also watched Independence Day! Oh, I kept the shades drawn in my the last two weeks, it has been so hot. But yesterday and today are so nice. A real break from the excruciating heat. We will all just keep keeping on the best we can as we get older. Thankful for children who are always such a great support.
Linda, Don't give up on your Knight in overalls. He has the true heart of a workman. He is a go getter. You are too.
I too keep the heat and super cold(in Winter) out by closing my drapes that block temps and light. My daughter said, "gosh mom you are living in a cave" I said, "yes and I absolutely hate it. That's why I go outside more in summer." At the farm, I never closed drapes and only had lace curtains in the dining room. I loved all the wonderful light. Had some shade trees there. Only one nice shade tree here, in back.
It's good to get checked if you think you may be getting memory issues. But I think you are fine, only over worked ( as in going and doing) Hold tight to one another. Love you guys so much. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Caretaking is not easy and can take its toll. I do believe many of us, over 70 are hyper aware of our cognitive issues because we see it practically everyday from our President and feel sorry to see the leader of the free world in such a state.
My husband who will be 68 in December, he’s very forgetful and loses things. It worries me. Although he is very capable in other areas. I recognize I’m not as sharp as I used to either.
Oh how I wish there was something we could do to prevent it!
Go easy on yourself - remember we are in our golden years - enjoy them!
Linda, you have a lot on your plate. Forgetting to turn the grill off is something that happens to everybody. I feel forgetful sometimes and so I have little stickers that I print on my label maker. Turn off - turn on - lock this - etc.
Be kind to yourself.
Do not be hard on yourself being a full time caregiver is difficult. You take such good care of LD keeping you both in prayer
When "things" begin to change I feel fragile too. Big (((hugs))) to you.
I am so glad that the gas smell was only the burner not being turned off properly and thank you Lord that it had no effect on your breathing or the home becoming combustible. Your guardian angels were watching over you.

Glad you got your A/C fixed. I am so grateful to have a well-functioning one on these scorching days and often wonder how we managed to survive back in the day before they existed.
My heart goes out to you as you walk this path with L.D., and I'm thinking your experience with leaving the gas on probably had a lot to do with having so much on your mind.
