Sunday Hockey and Monday.....

My first outing since surgery was a success!

Louis Dean drove us to McKinney to see Logan play a hockey game!
Harrison was running a fever so he didn't get to  be in the game. He and Logan are on one team and Trystan and Kailey are on another. Trystan greeted me as we came in the door and escorted us to the bleachers. We arrived just before game time! Trystan said she wanted to come cheer her sister on AND to see me!!

Logan knows what she's doing!!
I loved watching her out there on the ice!

Just 7 years old and doing so well.

Trystan made a little sign that said "GO, Logan!!"

Seeing these sweet faces was the best medicine I could get!!
Here I am in the den writing this on Monday night and I am smiling ear from ear just looking at their sweet faces.

Just getting out and about was exercise but I came home and did the normal ones like I usually do with Kirby.

Then I tucked my bee quilt around me and Louis Dean and I watched the Kansas City Chiefs football game! Since I was born in Kansas City, I was rooting for them!

It was 6:30 when we decided to take naps.
Only thing was - I was down for the night and didn't get up until 9:00 this morning!
I guess I was tired!

So here I am resting and recovering and taking things easy with no hustle and bustle going on whatsoever!!! Guess what Louis Dean says to me? "Honey, you need to rest!"
I told him I had just been in bed for 15 hours!!!
Later he said, "I'll be glad when things slow down....."
Good grief! They have all but STOPPED!

I suppose we get in the habit of saying things.....but I could NOT resist teasing him about it!

I keep just about everything and when I got dressed today I noticed my shirt is 27 years old!

It is a Synchronized swimming South Zone t-shirt and I have worn it fairly often all these years.
I'm really grateful my size hasn't changed much through the years.
While I started off skinny - and I am not skinny anymore  - at least most things still fit.

Food has not been my friend for these last two weeks.
Today I stuck with regular Tylenol so I am hoping my stomach calms down now that I'm not taking pain pills. A Subway sandwich sounded good to me and Louis Dean went out and picked them up for us. It did hit the spot.

It was two weeks ago today I had surgery.
Tomorrow I get the staples out.
Day by day and step by step.....

  1. Hi sweet Linda. How nice to get out and about. While your grandchildren are playing soccer, my two great grandsons are into wrestling. Issac got a first locally, but came in 8th in Oklahoma. These kids travel all over.

We are homebound except for doctor appointments these days, but hope soon to be able to get out and at least hit the thrift store.

We are on a new pill to reduce the fluid that my dearest is trying to get rid of. Hopefully it will work, and he won't have to go back in the hospital for an IV drip to get rid of it.

    Sending love and hugs.

  6. Linda, I am so excited to see that you are up and doing things with those grands again. I am sure that they love seeing you as much as you do them. I must say you look good and I am glad to see that you are finally getting back to normal, and I am sure LD wanting you to rest is the best medicine!

  7. Linda, You look so good. Those kids know how to squeeze our hearts, don't they? What a cute idea Trystan had , making her sign to encourage Logan. I think Ld loved seeing them also. :) I think when LD is saying he wants things to slow down...he means you be well and he can relax. Gosh Linda I had an old sweatshirt on one day and told Ted it was 22 years old, I had surely gotten my 10 dollars out of wearing it. LOL Blessings to you and LD and continue to get well and healthy. Love you, xoxo, Susie

  8. Wow...I am impressed that you are up and out to a hockey game. ( Maybe the cold arena is good for your knee.:) I cant believe how big the quads are getting. Seems only yesterday they came to your house for the day and I enjoyed seeing all the things you and LD did with them. I know you will be glad to get those staples out.

  9. Oh that Subway sandwich looks so good. I love nothing better than a sandwich, yet I come from a family that doesn’t like sandwiches as I do. Guess that I am going to have to go alone and maybe today!

Those girls sure are darling and how sweet that Trystan was doing double duty...cheering her sister and grandmother on! ☺️

Wish I could say that I fit into clothes from thirty years ago. 😶 That’s enough on that subject.

Yay for getting the staples removed. Things will move along even better now...

  11. It's no wonder Louis Dean wants things to slow down, he's been busier than usuall for him and I image will be very glad when things are back to normal for you. It's so true those smiling faces of our grandchildren always do make us feel better and they are so appreciate when we go to watch them doing their activities. I have a high school age grandson that does hockey and it always amazes me how agile they are on their skates. They fly around the rink with the abities of figure skaters. Take it one day at a time, it is the best way to live.

  15. Gosh, knee surgery I always was told was the worst for a good recovery, especially if you don't do the painful exercises, however looks like you have whipped it and doing very good.
Glad to see you up and going
So glad you have such great support from your singing husband

  16. I had missed this post, and am totally amazed that you are out and about and watching hockey and cheering on the grands in person. You deserved to sleep for 15 hours after that!
