Louis Dean and I have been busy the last couple of weeks getting our outdoor areas ready for spring and summer.
We took all the netting and rain curtains down from the gazebo to open it up.
I love the lights at night!
It now has a different look with all the 'walls' gone.
Sanford and Son used to live in our back yard but they have moved on and it was good to see them go!
This is our morning spot for coffee and bird watching and my Quiet Time.
You can see that Louis Dean keeps a coffee pot out there!
My first honeysuckle and rose bouquet of the season.
Saturday night Ilene came for dinner and the last episodes of The Madison....
although we ended up watching episode 4 that night and the last 2 on Sunday!
My son, Jesse, came one afternoon and checked out the self cleaning kitty litter box for me.
He has one just like it and helped me get mine on Amazon.
There's an app on my phone but I couldn't figure it out and it lost Internet as well.
Turns out the drawer was not shut all the way!
I skipped Tuesday Treasures with Brenda as Logan and Trystan had a concert and we went over before traffic so we could ride with them.
We had front row chairs!
Instead of climbbing the bleachers, Amber brought in three chairs for us.
I am smiling as I write just looking at my sweet Amber and Logan and Trystan.
What a blessing they are to me.
I'm happy to say that the last two decorated trees and all other Christmas is now out of the house.
The sewing room was the last to go!
How do you like my new sewing machine cover??
I'm looking forward to getting back to doing some quilts and mending.
Our sweet Tabitha is in the dog house right now.
I have been smelling cat pee in the sewing room and I discovered why!
She has been peeing under the library table that had a skirt over it....and on a stack of quilt batting and backings as well as a bag that held a shopkeepers apron pattern - all cut out. Now I will have to unpin the patterns and wash the fabric before I can sew it!
AND - she peed on the curtains!
Back when the Bells had taken the cats in to give me a break during the plumbing crisis earlier this year, Tabitha has posed a problem by peeing on clothing and hockey bags. Amber didn't tell me for awhile thinking she had a UTI and took her to the vet. He put her on antibiotics for good measure but I suspected she was acting out.
That added so much work to what I was already clenaing up in there that I was more than ready to get out of town and send some days in the country!
We meant to leave earlier in the week but Louis Dean was out of one of his memory meds so I had to wait until Thursday to pick it up and then we headed south!
I drove straight through only stopping at HEB!
It's only a little over 100 miles from our driveway to the ranch gate and that's about as long as I can drive at one time.
We arrived at 4:30 yesterday afternoon!
My view this morning with the first cup of coffee.
It's so good to BE here.
I have never in my life left my home in such disarray!
Bed unmade, clothes on the floor dishes in the sink.....
It will all be there when I get back and in the meantime....I am soaking up the slower pace of country life.
I close tonight's journal entry with this photo of Charlie.
He belongs to Brenda and Billy and he is so loved.....
as is Miss Sadie.
Tomorrow is going to be a hard day for my best friend.
She gave me permission to share the photos and this is her Facebook posting.....
Our sweet Charlie is very sick. He has a large mass in his belly and surgery is not an option due to his age and a heart murmur. We are so sad to have to say goodbye to him. Laps of Love will help him cross the rainbow bridge peacefully on Saturday

Praying for my friends.....

Awww, I am so sorry about Charlie. I love your sewing machine cover; did you make it? What will you do about Tabitha; do you have a plan? The gazebo looks lovely and so breezy. How do you keep everything dry when it rains?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you both made a trip to the country....going to be a rainy Easter weekend however...stay safe and safe travels. The gazebo looks so festive with all your lights...love it and wishing you a very blessed Easter day
ReplyDeleteBet you are getting the rain right now as it's pouring here this morning. Love your sewing area. Finally got my table put up - it's a garage workbench that I saw someone use for a sewing table. My original desk didn't survive the move. Sorry about sweet Charlie.
ReplyDeleteHow very sad about Charlie. He looks like such a sweet boy. Sending thought and prayers for your friedn.
ReplyDeleteI love your gazebo. It looks so invinting.
Happy Easter, Linda and Louis Dean. We are headed to Grimmwood this week. So nice to spend some time in the country.
ReplyDeleteBusy, busy girl. We have one more episode of the Madison. Can't wait. I heard it was renewed for season 2. Have a blessed Easter.
ReplyDeletemy favorite today is your night shot of the newly remodeled out door gathering place. I love lights, night or day and its really pretty both ways. My heart hurts for the loss of Charlie, prayers and hugs to all those left behind with aching hearts. you are right about the house, I have learned to leave mine alone since a year of caregiving has changed me...
ReplyDeletehugs to you and enjoy your time in the Country. Your cozy home looks great and I love the open air look of the gazebo.
ReplyDeletePraying that you and Louis Dean have a Blessed Easter.
Sue
What great pictures! I always love the photos of what is going on with y'all in Texas.
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled to hear you're at the ranch. What a nice Easter gift for you and Louis Dean.
Your blog is always a nice gift to me and your other friends!
Have a Happy and Blessed Easter, Linda and Louis Dean!!
Love, Trudy
Enjoy your time out in the Country...Hopefully it is no pouring down rain on y'all. Still raining here. So sorry about little Charlie. This is so difficult. Are there Blue bonnets at the farm? Happy Easter to you and Louis Dean. ✝️🌷🐣
ReplyDeleteForgot to say I was sorry to hear about cute Charlie--it is always hard when our fur children leave us. I miss having a cat, and that cat litter machine looks like an answered prayer for you. Good for you and Jesse figuring it out.
ReplyDeleteYour Saturday supper and movie nights are a blessing to Ilene and Louis and you, I'm sure. I know you enjoy hostessing and you are so good at it !
Love, Trudy
How lovely to have Christmas put away and your open and lovely gazebo ready for Spring and Summer. The girls are growing into beautiful young women. Take after their mom and you.
ReplyDeleteI hear the Madison's is a good series, I just can't handle all the language in some of these wonderful series. They don't need it to improve the story, but that's just me. We have been watching the new season of Call from the Heart, and Hope Valley 1874.
It's so good to be back reading and enjoying my dear blog friends. Sending hugs and kisses...wish I could beam myself to the ranch!!!
PS So sad to see Charlie being so ill. Miss Sophie looks exactly like our Molly Girl we had for 15 years. Beautiful and loving breed.
ReplyDeleteooooh i just love reading about your comings and goings (you remember that saying) right?! i find joy in knowing that you are in your happy place...writing about all the wonderful things you experience!! beautiful, happy, bell girls look great with ld, i wish you had gotten in that picture. i like your sewing machine cover and sweet tabitha is not so sweet after all (jk)!! but i must say it is one of the reasons we don't have a pet....peeps get so attached and if you don't get one, well, you know where i'm going!! get some good rest and enjoy that beautiful view!! poor charlie, he looks like such a sweet puppy...they will miss him for sure!!
ReplyDeleteLots has been going on in your life, as usual, Linda. The Bell grands looked lovely with the mother and LD, only missing you in the photo. Redecorating is a chore and a joy when done and the gazebo seating area looks nice. Sorry to read about Charlie but when the suffering and pain become too much, saying goodbye is very hard. I once had adopted a cat that urinated in other than the litter box and sadly had to return him to the shelter. Hope that Tabitha’s issue can be resolved by a vet.
ReplyDeleteAww. so sorry to hear about the kitty & her peeing issues. happened with my cat alot! until I got him a litter box I think! then he knew where to go. I am so gutted to be separated from my 7 year old fur-baby right now, Curry, while I am in Fiji for a bit. not sure if I'll get to see him. Animals are hard work but they are such a blessing in so many ways!
