A Boy Scout Saturday and a Great Sunday!!!!

I have had THE best weekend!!!!
It started leisurely with several hours of puttering around putting more Spring/Easter debris here and there!! In the late afternoon, Louis Dean and I cleaned up and drove over to Arlington to an All You Can Eat Pancake Supper to support my oldest grandson's Boy Scout Troop! #379!!

Meet my first born son, Jesse!
I don't often get to blog about him and the family!
He is deeply involved with all three of his children in ALL of their activities and is a great example of fatherhood!!!

The Boy Scouts is a fine organization to be a part of!!!
This is Troop #379 and my grandson is in the middle on the right!

Louis Dean was pretty impressed with the food that night!!

Photo from Jesse!

They cooked up 300 HUNDRED pounds of meat for the Pancake Supper!!!

Louis Dean did his share of eating!!!! Sausage, bacon, pancakes complete with melted butter and heated syrup and coffee, milk or water! ALL you can eat!!!

My first born granddaughter, Faith, served the cold beverages.
Yes, she pointed out that she is taller than I am!!!

This is Sam!!!
He is WAY taller than I!!!

My sweet Levi! I am STILL taller than he is - for now!!!

Faith was intrigued by Louis Dean's PHONE!!!!
He has a dinosaur FLIP PHONE!
She asked, "What is THAT??"

If you follow me on Instagram - then you know I seldom post anything!!!
You may have noticed a recent gush of photos!
Those were actually the work of my granddaughter, Faith!!
Now that I have had a lesson or two - I certainly know a whole lot more than I did!
However, I do NOT know how to save an Instagram photo so I can use it here!!!
I will ask her on Tuesday when we have a date to go for yogurt after school!
PLUS, she helped me restore the settings on my iPhone after Kailey recently got hold of it and changed them all!

Levi is such a good sport! He told me he had been there FIVE HOURS when we arrived!
He had spent much of that time practicing his moves on his racer! Levi is seldom bored - always finding ways to entertain himself and everyone else!

Our Levi is a sports extreme kind of guy!!!

He showed us what he can do on his racer!!!
We just had so much FUN with them Saturday night!!!

A cool car in the parking lot!
We actually followed it part way to take Faith and Levi home!

Sam and his dad stayed to clean up and we went back to their house to hang out awhile!
Those kids are so much fun!
Faith showed me her newly redecorated room and Levi showed me his video game!
Mine-something!!! It was interesting and Levi was so QUICK on it!!!
He set up a whole landscape and will show me on Tuesday when I go back how much he accomplishes. I hope to memorize the NAME of the GAME then!

We came home and went right to bed!!!
Nothing like a wonderful evening to prepare you for a good night's sleep!

Rain is in the forecast here for the next WEEK so Louis Dean stayed home to work on the stone patio just outside our kitchen door.

I went to church!
The first Sunday of the month is Communion Sunday and a special service I always look forward to.
Next to the service, my FAVORITE part of church is going to the nursery to pick up the quads!!!!
We have a family tradition of going to Dickie's BBQ for lunch and that's what we did today!

Here's big man Harrison!!!!

Sweet Trystan!!!

My very special Logan!!!

I sat next to Kailey since Granddad was a no show!!!

Since Mike is a SUPER DAD, he took all four kids on an errand to Lowe's and then home for naps!
All by himself, folks!!! He is AMAZING!!!!

That gave Amber and me some mother/daughter time!!
We did a little afternoon shopping!

THIS was my haul from Central Market!!!
A Texas wine from Becker Vineyards, flavored water, breakfast snacks and BACON potato chips!!!
Central Market was featuring bacon EVERYTHING!!!
It was a BACON FEST!!!!
They even had a big poster of.....

Who else????

We hit up Bath and Body Works!!!

I scored big with candles and a CAN of goodies!!!!
Thank you, Amber, for the 20% OFF coupon on your phone!!

Ross for Less was next!!!
More candles - can you EVER have TOO many??? No, I didn't think so!!!
Wine glasses that Louis Dean can't break for $2.99!!!
That wrap feels like a million dollars - and it was less than $20!

I came home in time to be a stone mason's helper to Louis Dean!!
He is doing an amazing job on this patio!!
I used a wire brush to clean off the stones - which are CUT ROCK!
My ex husband was - and is - a stone mason  and I have an abundance of natural rock around this place - all used in landscaping, a fireplace, privacy fences and veneer on the front of the house.
I do know how to handle a wire brush!!!

THIS recipe was on Facebook today - posted by The Noble Pig!!

Bailey's Irish Cream Cake

Recipe from: | Serves: 10-12

Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup Irish Cream Liquor

Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup Irish Cream Liquor

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan. Sprinkle pecans over the bottom.
  • In a large bowl, with a mixer, combine yellow cake mix, vanilla instant pudding mix, eggs, water, oil and Irish Cream liqueur.
  • Pour batter over nuts in pan. Bake for 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.
  • Cool for 10 minutes in the pan. Flip the cake out of the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.
  • While the cake is cooling, make the glaze. Combine butter, water and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and continue boiling for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add Irish Cream liqueur.
  • Prick top and sides of cooled cake with a skewer. Spoon glaze over top and brush onto sides of cake. Allow the cake to absorb the glaze and repeat until most of the glaze is used. Save some glaze to pour over sliced pieces. You'll be glad you did.
I'm thinking this will be the perfect cake to take when we go down to the ranch later this month!

It has been a GREAT weekend!!!
Now I am off to watch the last episode of Downton Abbey!!!

I found you on Instagram and am now following you. I only have pictures of socks I've knit on there but I'm expecting you to post a lot of interesting photos for me to view. Hope Louis Dean gets the patio done before the rain moves in. Did he do all that rock work around your place?

You make every day look fun, Linda. :)

I just watched the last episode of Downton Abbey too. I like how they tied up all the lose ends but I am so sad to see it end.

What a cool thing for the scouts to do. Boy Scouts are such a great organization.

Kids do know so much more than we do about all the technology. I need to get a kid to help me out now and then.

LD did a great job with the patio.

Oh probably Faith could help me lose the narrator on my tv. It's good to have a smart kid in the family to help with the techie stuff. (I still miss my flip phone.)

Always fun to see what you've been up to. Louis Dean looks very industrious. Sounds as if April showers are arriving early.

Loved seeing your older grands. Faith is a beautiful young lady and I LOVE her name. My husband was an Eagle Scout and while one of our sons was a scout, he never went past Cub scout. It is nice to see all those boy scout uniforms at the table. And is it just me but your oldest son reminds me of LD...their eyes look similar! I am off to craft a bit today...hopefully I will have some photos to share tomorrow.

Linda, I must say you sure have a good looking family. Your grandkids are so darn sweet. Glad LD got to eat some meat and pancakes. I know he likes that. I am afraid my grands know way more than I'll ever know about technical things, phones, computer, ipads and such. Glad you and Am,ber had some fun time together too. Blessings to everyone. love you, xoxo,Susie

In addition to your stone brushing skills, you sure know how to pack in fun filled weekends. All your kids and grandkids are beautiful.

That bacon looked really good. One of my friend's husband is scout leader for their son's troop and her son just made Eagle Scout.

Funny about the flip phone. I remember when they were the latest thing.

You did have a great weekend! Jesse's kids are adorable. And, no you can't have too many candles. I've made that cake and you will love it! Of course, Bailey's is divine anyway you have it...on the rocks, in coffee, baked items, you name it!

Any one of the things you wrote about could have made a perfect weekend, but you were FULL of wonderful events! I really like the look of that cake!

What a wonderful weekend with your son and grandchildren. They are all so cute, and that Scout Troop breakfast looked great.

I can't believe how much Trystan looks like Amber in that picture...must be the dimples.

You look so happy surrounded by family...isn't that the best thing is life?
