We were up EARLY - proving that we CAN get up early in the morning!!!
At 6:01 am we were checked into the hospital for Louis Dean's knee surgery.
We have been blessed by the Baylor Angels - as we call them.
The nurses make all the difference in the world when you are having surgery.
Louis Dean was attended by Baylor Angels during his heart surgeries in both 2009 and 2011 at Baylor Hospital. Just look at Louis Dean in his first pair of shorts! Good legs!!
This morning's surgery was at Baylor Hospital in Las Colinas.
Once again, everyone treated him like royalty and things went just like clockwork!
He was ready to get this DONE!!!
We arrived at 6:00 and I was driving him home at 10:00 AM!!
Dr. Sanders repaired his meniscus and scraped and cleaned the arthritis out of his joints.
All according to plan!
I stopped at McDonald's for breakfast meals and we ate as soon as I settled him in the guest room bed! Then he napped while I got his Rx's filled and after I once again got him all situated, I went to bed and slept a solid three hours!!!
Since he is recovering, I thought some comfort food might be in order!
Chicken and dumplings that were SO good! I could have eaten the whole pan!!
Served with baked sweet potatoes and steamed asparagus - just a GOOD meal!!!
We ate dinner while we watched The Astronauts' Wives Club, which we really are enjoying.
He's managing very well with a cane instead of a walker.
If you have ever been to my house you will know that it's not easy to get around here with a clunky walker. Not to mention the several step UPS and step DOWNS we have!
I just left him in bed reading a new book about another Indian Tribe - the Nez Perce Indians of the Northwest. I have chores to do, trash to take out and I still need to water the yard and plants. It's best to water early morning - and we all know that's not gonna happen! - or late evening - which is more realistic for me!
I just want to say thank you for all the family and friends that have supported us in prayer.
Louis Dean feels very special as I have relayed all the messages and texts and comments.
I never doubted that everything would turn out just fine.
Still, it's only normal to think about what life would be like without the one you love.
Had that been the case, I trust that God would have given me grace to bear it.
I admit to holding Louis Dean a little closer to me the last few days.
Tonight is the eve of our 10th wedding anniversary.
I thought I loved him with all my heart the day I married him.
I am not sure what happened since then but I can only imagine my heart has grown several sizes larger because the love I have for him now could not possibly have fit in the heart I had 10 years ago.
Oh Linda, what a precious post. You do have a darling husband, and I can't think of anyone who could be a better wife and partner.
