Friday afternoon I let myself in at Nita and Mike's house after spending the morning with Mother and the afternoon with Deanie. Nita had made down the bed in the guest room and I felt like I was in a luxurious bed and breakfast! There was time for a little nap before they arrived home from work.
We planned to party until late that night and that's exactly what we did!
We got all dressed up in our 70's costumes and took pictures!!!
I know I have been splashing photos all over Facebook since last night!!
Seeing them STILL makes me smile!
The party was called The Ridglea Rage and they have it at the country club this time every year.
The theme changes from year to year and this time it was a Party from the 70's!
The menu featured food that was popular in the 1970's.....
peas and carrots, corn, mac and cheese, meat loaf, Salisbury steak and mushroom gravy.
That picture on the right in the collage was a HUGE beef roast!
We arrived early and checked out the food stations and the stage!
Just LOOK at all those desserts!!
So MANY and so little TIME!!
I got some GREAT pics of my sister!!!
We are all now in our sixties - my two sisters and brother - and having the best time of our lives!!
I love, Love, LOVE this photo!!!
Just look at the old mobile phone!!!
It was a big hit and people would stop by our table to get their picture taken with it!
I totally missed out on the music of the 70's!
We had a blast dancing and eating all night!
There were fun activities like this black light!
They had a Volkswagen out in front for photo ops!
They also had stations with sketch artists to do caricatures.
I just don't see US in this!!! Hahahaha!!
Nita wasn't the only one who liked her 70's style outfit!!
This was our group at Table #9!
Thanks to Joni and Bernie who made the evening possible!
GUESS who won the best costume prize????
ME!!!!!!
It was a great prize, too!!!
Nita and Mike treated me to this party and they got their money back!!!
YEAH!!!
I loved seeing my sister dance and have fun!!
We made some great memories last night!!
Cute!!!
Bernie - our family friend and Mike in his white polyester leisure suit!
It is amazing how time flies when you're having fun!
We arrived around 7:00 and didn't leave until it was over at 12:30 this morning!
That's Nita and Mike down at the front on the left.
I am smiling from ear to ear as I see these pictures of Nita having fun!
I will always remember this night!
This last photo was taken in the Hippie Bus!!
Note Mike's color sprayed dark chest hair!!
It was indeed a magical evening!
We fell into bed after 1:00 am and slept like babies!
This morning Deanie came over to hear all about our night out!!
SO - we had a ball last night and then relived it all over again as we talked about it!
I came home this afternoon just in time to eat a late lunch with Louis Dean and then fall into bed for a nap! Partying can wear a gal out!
I woke up to the sound of little voices - the quads and their parents had come by for an impromptu visit! Mike ended up buying a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken while I cleaned out the fridge for veggies to round out our meal.
It's been a great weekend and it's not over YET!!
I was a teenager in the 70's and I have fond memories of disco music, (yes, I still love disco music), and the wild and colourful outfits. Great post, Linda. :)
ReplyDeleteYou crazy kids! Did Louis Dean decide that he didn't want to go back? Hahaha! Now pace yourself, Linda. As you say, the weekend's only half over.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had fun at the party and won best costume! Love the sketch! Really enjoyed this evening, thanks for accommodating our impromptu visit :)
ReplyDeleteWow! And it is only Friday night! WHERE did you get those outfits? Did you have them in the 70's? This looks like a ball!! You gals look so pretty in the outfits, too! I guess I am still a hippy at heart.
ReplyDeleteawesome shots of all your fantastic fun... i love the one of your sister at the round table and the drawing of the two of you...
ReplyDeleteLinda, What a great fun time !! I loved all the outfits. Your sister looked like she was in a sing group in the one photo. Oh yes, that big old phone...how cool was that. Then you get to top off your time with your daughter's family...great time ! Partying is not easy as we age. The last time I stayed up till 12 I was wore out for two days. LOL. Glad you won. :):) Blessings to all, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteIt made me smile just to read your post and listen to YMCA. Don't you think some of the 60's and 70's music was happy? It sure looks like everyone had a fun time...glad you and your sister enjoyed it. and CONGRATULATIONS for winning the best costume!
ReplyDeleteLinda, What a wonderful time was had by all. It brings back a lot of memories of the fun that we had when we went to parties. The music was so that you could understand the words. You looked like you were having an awesome time and the quads coming to visit was a great way to finish the weekend. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley@shirleystitches
