I made this denim Texas quilt for Amber when she was attending Texas State University.
I have several quilts to make this year and have been whacking out, tracing, and cutting squares today! I am designing FOUR Texas crib quilts for Amber's Quads - each a bit different. Thanks to friends and family for all the donated jeans!
I have learned to make sure the red is colorfast!
Wonder if Amber has noticed her star is a bit on the pink side in spots?
(You know she does NOT like pink!!)
Yesterday I hung out at my favorite store - HEB!
After I finished my shopping - and while I was waiting for Amber to finish getting her massage - I got all comfy in one of these over sized Texas rocking chairs.
I called my mother and we had a nice little phone chat!
When I take Mother to the closest HEB near our home - Mother and I end up in the bench section! We sit and visit - usually while waiting for Louis Dean to bring the car around and load the groceries.
I took all but one of these pics at the HEB here.
The top middle one is of the wreath on Amber's front porch.
If I am not mistaken, it was a house warming gift from Carla.
She now has a blog: My Life: A Little of This......a Little of That.
And talk about QUILTS!!!! She is all about Texas and Quilts.
Not like the ones I make, either. She is an artist with a needle and does those heirloom quality ones.
The front porch had a layer of sawdust on it after Mike finished putting in their new flooring. I gave it a good cleaning and freshened it all up!
We are celebrating Amber feeling better tonight.
Mike is taking us out to dinner at the Outback Steak House.
While I usually order a salad or baked potato (I am not that big an eater!) -
I have been told I am to order a 'real meal' - to use Mike's words.
When we get home I shall begin to pack up my bags and load my car for the trip home tomorrow. Louis Dean, Lucy and Maggie have all missed me!
I guarantee you I will NOT be coming alone on my next trip down here!!
And I will be back soon......
The 'Welcome' mat is always out!
Hi Linda - its going to be tough to leave. Glad Amber is feeling a bit better. You will also be so glad to be home as well. Tough to be in two places at once. Drive safely. Best regards, Joy

Travel safely as you leave the big, beautiful, state of Texas
(Oh I got called away earlier when I was here. I'm sorry for sitting so long. My computer gets so "sticky.")
ReplyDeleteHow fun to be making Texas quilts for each grand. That's a lot of work and I'm sure that you've only just begun your plans.
So good that Amber is getting over the sick phase. She'll feel so much better in this next trimester. She's getting in all her adventures. Hope that you gals are getting a great list of movies and books together. I think PW has a very good list, if not.
Happy and safe traveling tomorrow!
Glad to hear that you were able to help get your daughter to feeling better. I'm sure she appreciated everything you did for her while you visited. Those quilts you're making are going to be so cute. Have a safe trip back home.
ReplyDeleteI love that chair, I wouldn't have wanted to leave it behind! That's a lot of sewing you have going on, as they'd say here "Good on ya". :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Outback is a fantastic place to eat, I love their food back home. Now with a name like that I wonder if they even have the Outback restaurants here... I'll have to check in to that.
Have a safe trip home. That's fantastic Amber was feeling better today!
Oh you are so talented, my Dear.
ReplyDeletemmmmm, that chair does look like it would be wonderful, for a rock.
Wishing you a safe trip home...

ReplyDeleteI always smile when I see the name 'Lucy & Maggie' together...since those are the names of two of my grands (sisters).
Yep David and I got that wreath on a Hill Country Trip for Mike & Amber's new place. Dang I'm blushing. I'm not that talented with needles and thread but Thanks for the compliments. I hope to be better and get some quilts done this year to deserve your praise. ;o)
