All Things Bright and Beautiful

I am so very grateful for my family and friends!
Amber was here to take me to the surgery center in Coppell.
We had to BE there at 7:00 - as in the MORNING!
I didn't sleep much the night before but no one ever does the night before surgery.

Everyone was so kind from the receptionist to the nurses to the doctors......
The procedure went well and I felt no pain whatsoever.
In by 7:00 and out by 11:00!
Amber was so good in staying with me and then took me to Cracker Barrel for lunch and some shopping.
We scored on some 70% off  treasures and then visited over a really good breakfast!

I couldn't take pictures since I had a patch on the left eye and that affected my depth perception....
so I groped around like a blind lady!

From there we went to Aldi so I could get eveything I needed for the coming week and Amber - who only shops Target - found some good buys of her own.

Surgery Day went well and the patch I had to wear to cover my eye kept coming undone.

I solved that problem by wearing a headband over it to hold it in place.

Amber got me settled in at home and put my groceries up and I took a nap after she left.

Brenda and Billy brought our dinner in from Angelo's....salads....

and lasagna  for me and pasta with grilled chicken for him.

Today was another early morning - though not nearly as early as yesterday - and Ilene took me to the doctor appointment to get my eye patch off.

It was so exciting - I could see things so much brighter and all the colors were so pretty!!!

Ilene treated me to breakfast at the Country Cafe in Irving and it was so warm and cozy and the home cooking was delicious.

Another lovely outing that totally counted as a time of 'respite!'

I slept nearly all afternoon and then did some art....

I embellished this printed canvas and it looks really good to me!

This scene is from a photo from my friend in Finland....
I started it last year and hope to finish it and get it in the mail soon.

In news about our car.....I will file a claim with State Farm and move on from there.
I still can't drive just yet but hopefully soon and hope to get a rental car.

Amber took pictures of the construction area where my car was damaged.

The metal plate allowing traffic was not in place when I drove into the ditch and I did not know what had happened until it DID!

I saw no workers around warning about the danger  and no signs.

AFTER my car was stuck in the concrete ditch, several workers appeared and only one spoke English.

My car was really burgered up!

My poor car!!

You are looking pretty as always even with the eye patch... Thankful that the surgery went well for you. Sounds like you had plenty of people loving on you...It's always nice to be waited on and treated like a queen. Your car looks pretty banged up. Hopefully the insurance will take care of it all. Take care and just continue to heal...hugs to you Linda

I’m so glad your surgery went well and that you had such wonderful people around you through it all. Amber and Ilene sound like true blessings, turning a stressful time into moments of laughter, food, and little adventures. Also love that you were back to making art so quickly. Hope your eye keeps healing beautifully.

Glad your surgery was a breeze for you. Cataract surgery was the easiest procedure I have ever had done. The specialist I went to did one eye one day and then I went back the next day to have the other one done. They even served pound cake in the recovery room! I've been praying for you and LD!

I always had trouble with the tape on the eye patch, too! I was always glad to be done with that! Its amazing how you get used to not seeing so well, and when you get normal vision back it's so incredible! I can only imagine what that is like for an artist like you!

Oh my !!! Your poor car ...
So glad your surgery was successful. I remember my hubby saying how bright and vivid all the colors were after his surgery too.
Your meals always look so yummy.
Have a wonderful weekend.

OMGOSH- I have been so absent from everything lately! I didn't know you had eye surgery. I am suspecting it was more than just a cataract removal. I am so glad you had Summer around to help you. Thinking back on her history of health issues---her being able to help you is a real blessing.

That is horrible about your car! I hope you can get some satisfaction from one source or another. You can't go without a car!

Prayers for you and LD and I hope you have a good weekend- xo Diana

I'm a "mother hen" & I think you should get more rest. So glad your eye surgery went well. I recall seeing so much better initially, but somehow I got acclimated & it didn't last. Guess it all changes with time/age. Anniversary anyone?

I am just so glad it was your car, and not YOU!!! I told you that you will be delighted with your new vision, it is like a miracle. It is kind of a drag using all the eyedrops though. Your flower painting is gorgeous!
