Tuesday Treasures With Brenda and Chapter 13 Update....

It's been a beautiful day in the DFW area!

Louis Dean has been working outside and enjoying every minute.

This heavy stone bench needed to be leveled and he did it!

He worked for a couple of hours out by his storage building while I went thrifting with Brenda.

My Tuesday Treasures!

I love this colorful printed canvas and LD will hang it for me on the outside wall facing the gazebo.

I admit to being a little crazy but I am into decorating fences and outside walls!

Always on the lookout for outdoor chair cushions.

Brand new and $1.25.

The fabric in front is actually a shower curtain so it is sturdy fabric.

I'll be using it to cover the den sofa - just the seating area.

Louis Dean and I eat and snack in the den so I protect the couch with a pretty cover.

I used comforters and such before but that wasn't working well but this works well!

This is a handy bag for day trips or overnight stays.

I fell in love with this handmade apron!

Brand new!

Rain got in one of the deck boxes I use for my spring/summer decorations and some of my things were ruined. Today I found some spring treasures to replaced the ones I had to throw in the trash.

I bought several packages of the yellow flowers and will use them to decorate it.

Brenda spied this heavy firescreen and hauled it up and into the cart and then loaded it in the car for me.

It's really nice and was only $10.00.

While Louis Dean had leftover chili dogs, I had a plate of roasted veggies!

Healthy and delicious!

That's the way I feel about Brenda!

 

Update on chapter 13.....

I wrote this chapter six or seven years ago and haven't read it again before last week.

It must have been a hard one to write or I was just off or something but it required more edits than most other chapters thus far.

I'll publish it next Monday once we get it sorted out

A Change of Schedule....

Amber and I are a little late getting the edits done on chapter 13 so I will be posting that tomorrow instead of today.

I worked book fair noon-2 and shopped Aldi after so I am now going to be home for a couple of days.

Except for thrifting with Brenda tomorrow.

Louis Dean has been missing me and says it's lonely when I'm not here.

I have never taken so long to get my house back in order after a change in seasons.

Perhaps it's my age because I know I'm definitely slowing down.

It's okay as I am enjoying the process of changing things up, purging, deep cleaning and organizing.

I bought this canvas at the thrift store back in the December and hung it in the sewing room today.

Same with the daisy crocheted throw.

The sewing room is the last room in the house to do.

Amber gave me the floral mud boots and I intend to fill them with pretty spring/summer faux flowers.

I need to find a pretty picture for the rosebud frame I recently thrifted.

Kimmy gifted me this tiny rabbit tea set.

This is a whole new look this year for the sewing room.

Plus I have some repairs to do later in here.

I have a hole in the ceiling back in the offset area where we keep the kitty box and supplies.

I'll tell you about that later! It's a funny story.

So many bee and honey treasures!

Some from friends and some from family.

I don't think I bought more than a few things here and there so these are mostly gifts.

It's a garden theme along with the bees and honey and eggs and Easter and the odd this and that.

I love this oversize cake plate and cover that was Nita's.

I always decorate it for the season and I know she knows I am thinking of her.

It comforts my heart to touch the things she has touched.

Hopefully we will have a honey harvest this year from our own bees!

I love looking at pretty things!

This wreath was thrifted back in the fall.

Love seeing things that I forgot I had!

This one section is all but finished.

I added some faux carrots to the carrot patch wreath and I'm sure I will continue to tweak things here and there.

A reality shot proving that this room is an ongoing project and I am really hoping to finish it this week.

The next project will be the gazebo which is still wearing her fall clothes under the debris I've piled in there!

There's always so much to do but that is a true blessing!

Sisterhood Weekend at Fellowship Church!

 Brenda and I attended the Sisterhood event last year and enjoyed it once we walked like a hundred miles in painful pretty shoes because we had to park so far away. Last year was a one day event but this year, the event was divided into two sessions. Friday evening from 6:00-9:00 PM and Saturday morning from 9:30 to noon.

Amber and her friend, Medley, attended this year, as well, so it was extra special for me.

Friday night! We were all encouraged to dress in pretty spring colors, but, alas, the weather in Texas took a step back into winter this weekend!

Here in north Texas we had stormy cold weather while up in the panhandle, they had a full blown winter snow storm!

Saturday morning with Medley and Amber!

They have been friends since Amber was 7 years old.

Both swam for the Pirouettes of Texas and have remained close friends.

It was storming when we woke up and our power wnr out for a couple of minutes while I was getting dressed but it came right back on. We were a little springier but it was cold!

I love my lacy thing - but it did present a couple of problems by catching on to other ladies buttons or purse hooks. It was crowded! What can I say?

I love Fellowship Church and Pastors Ed and Lisa Young.

Lisa shared her experience at Walmart where she was going to buy large ferns....

for the urinals in the men's bathrooms.

Last year we experienced long lines for the ladies room so this year all bathrooms were switched to being ladies! I'm sure they had one reserved for the men who were there serving. No long lines and so much better!

Lisa said she wanted the men's bathrooms to look pretty!

How clever!!

In other news this weekend.....

Son Jesse and Rachel took a day trip to San Francisco!

How great is that?? Dash off to California for the day in the morning and arrive back home the next morning!

What a great time they had!

I've been to San Francisco several times and it was so much fun to see the photos!

They had perfect weather out there but it was cold when they got home this morning.

Jesse loves a fireplace as much as I do and it made me smile to see thar he's already using the basket of firestarters I gave him!

It's early as I write but I am going to be going to bed early.

I'm going to school tomorrow to work the book fair and I need to be there at noon!

So that makes it an early morning for me since it takes me a couple of hours to get going!

Back Home in Time for Book Fair!

 Monday was our last full day in the country for this visit and it was a beautiful one.

Louis Dean was having coffee out on the deck when he called me to come quick!

The young goats were outside our gate and mowing the grass.

Louis Dean and I strolled around the front yard inspecting all the wildflowers and new growth.

We have quite a number of Indian Blankets of which I forgot to take pictures.

The camper is on the side of the cabin Louis Dean built.

Monday night I used up as much of our veggies as I could and roasted them along with pepper poppers.

Tuesday morning we had our coffee and I started the preparations of packing and closing up the camper until we return later this month. I had put all the stuff on the deck for LD to load in the truck......

then discovered he had decided to paint all the shelves in his shop room.

I used the enexpected spare time to cut blooms from our rose bushes.

My goal was to leave around noon and get home before traffic.

We actually left at 1:20 and I drove us straight home without stopping!

We arrived shortly after 3:30.

I will miss the country roads with next to no traffic!

I yawned all the way home and went to bed early.

This was the first day of book fair and I was there from noon until 4:00 and loved every minute.

I love hearing and watching the young people. It encourages my heart.

The bonus was getting to see my Bell grands!

They each one came by the library to see me and my heart swelled.

Harrison came twice!

Actually the girls did, too.

I love working book fair and I love the librarian and teachers and staff.

So much so that I am going back tomorrow and Friday.

So, since I am going to school tomorrow, I better get in bed.

After all, I need to be there by noon!

Our Country Days....

 I didn't think I  would get to post a journal entry since we didn't have Internet for a few days and my mouse was acting crazy on my laptop. Plus I was locked out of Gmail and Google!

We arrived on Thursday evening around 7:00 and before dark!

It was a good drive even though the last 50 miles or so it was raining so hard I could barely see.

It takes both of us to drive these days and we arrived safe and sound.

Before we even leave the driveway, we have a word of prayer.

Prayers help everything.

Sherry was down at their house and Dean drove in from taking a friend home and stopped to visit awhile. The friend, Tom, is a retired master electrician, and put our AC to rights in just a few minutes.

Alas, I had neglected to ask Dean to turn on the water thinking it was just a matter of going out behind the camper room and turning on the faucet. No, the water was turned off up by the duck tank and by then it was wet chilly rain and muddy! No matter! Dean trudged up there and turned it on for us and then made his way home in the dark and mud.

It's Sunday evening as I write and the Internet connection was restored yesterday.

My mouse is working off and on and will require a visit to me son, Jesse, next week!

Louis Dean and I love campfires and he's kept one going for us even with the rain we've had.

This is my sitting place to read, watch the campfire, sip coffee and pray.

My mouse is acting up again so I will add my words to this entry later!

Technology is hard for me!

The mouse seems to be working so if the words stop - you know why.

I made homemade fajitas for dinner on Friday night.

Such pretty critters down here!

Work is an ongoing thing in the 1925 house and I was so happy to be a part of it today!

Sherry is using vintage doorknobs on her vintage doors.

Dean paints the high sections, Sherry paints the middle ....

and I painted the low sections.

This is a brick facade - the before...

and after I lightened the grout.

There's another step where we will  lighten and brighten the bricks.

This wall will be in the bathroom and feature a wall hung plant rack complete with a plant light and lots of greenery.

It's so pretty down here!

We haven't been able to inspect our beehives due to the rain.

But they seem to be thriving and we are encouraged.

It's been a struggle to do this post so I hope it makes sense!

I managed to add the edits to chapter 12 and hope to publish it in the morning.
