Back to the Country!!

Samantha and Tabitha are the best little travel kitties!

They seem to really love each other!

I'm SO glad we took two kitties and SO glad we picked these two!

I picked Dean up at the DFW airport Sunday morning and we were on our way back to the country shortly after noon. He had flown to North Carolina to teach at a Karate event.

Sherry met us in Waco and we ate at The Catch again - outside on the patio - so we could keep our kitties beside us. Then we stopped at the Mart Fireworks stand!
We will be isolating ourselves for the next 2 weeks since Dean has been traveling so fireworks on the 4th of July?? Absolutely!
This lady in red started her business 38 years ago and reminded me of my friend, Reaoma.
Same voice and complexion and hair. Plus I think she had some of her personality.
I counted it a blessing to meet and visit with her.

Back at the ranch.....it is always good to BE here!

Everything is a toy to kittens!
I'm getting some things together to take to a local thrift shop in Mart - Virginia's Vintage at 411 E. Texas Avenue. But I let the kittens play with them first.

They keep us entertained!

I slept late this Monday morning - it was after 11:00 when I got up and Louis Dean had already reset a couple of fence posts and done a lot of other projects! He was out there early!

Later in the afternoon, he laid out the grass carpet we bought recently on the front deck.
This will keep pests and insects from coming up from underneath and make it comfy for our feet.

Louis Dean and I walked down to do a 'walk about' during the Golden Hour.

I had cleaned out our camper pantry today and had a bag of popcorn to feed the geese and ducks.

Then we walked down to feed the chickens and goats.

The 'mops' went along with us.
Remmie and Rugar.....

Tiger... aka Mama Kitty.....walked along with her four kittens. One is Tuxedo with the white feet and the other three are tabbies so they all look the same.

What was mud just a short time ago.....

is now caked and cracked dirt.

Mushrooms.....

Curious mama cat......

We fed the goats.....

There are now two goat pens.....

I tried to give them all a snack.

There are eight goats now......

Pretty cool!

For some reason I just love saving all our table scraps and peelings and such, knowing the critters will enjoy them.

Louis Dean and I walked down to the critters and around the goat pens and on up to the big tank and then down by the bees and on to our camper/cabin.

There we are!

I love all my little lights.

Summer got us some super cool solar lights!
It's been a beautiful summer day and night for our first full day back in the country!
We get to be here for a full week!

  1. Does Mama Kitty get to see her babies of yours? They are all just so pretty. Of course, I love cats, but I guess my time of caring for them has passed.😥 I'd have to ask Ed to deal with litter and I just can't ask him to do all that. I did so love having a cat up beside me in my chair of under my arm in bed. They are such good company. I had one until 3 years ago.
That grass rug is neat and oh, your lit up place is like a warm beacon out there in the country! So pretty. I'm glad you don't have to rush home.
It was nice to see the goats and the dogs and cat. And your two cuties, playing. Aren't they a blast to watch!?Does Sherry still have peacocks? And do you have a bee meeting before you go back home? I bet you 4 will celebrate the 4th with a cookout and fireworks! Enjoy! It's away from all the madness and you can just skip the news!! 💕
Our 54th anniversary is today -- the 30th. We'll celebrate quietly here with a simple meal.
Hope you are sleeping good out there.

  2. Linda, Please be safe in the heat down there. I saw the weather map and it was showing awful high heat. Glad you can enjoy the animals and feed them scraps. I remember the neighbor's goats...I swear all my scrapes, left over decor pumpkins, raked up apples from his tree kept those goats alive. He rarely fed them. They were fun yet annoying. LOL. Loved seeing your lights on the front of the ranch house. Blessings to all, xoxo, love, Susie

  3. Everytime I see your cute little house with all those beautiful lights on it and all the wonderful things that are outside your house I feel just a tad jealous! I wish I could go on the golden hour walk with you and feed the scraps to the goats and the Ducks and the geese and whatever else you see them too and of course pet the two mops

  6. That was a quick trip but so nice to see all the mud is dried up and you could enjoy your walk about. Nothing goes to waste on a farm and kitchen scraps so make for a good treat. Enjoy your stay and yes, try to keep cool. The sun really heats up in July.

  7. That was a quick trip. Glad that you are back in the country again where you are both so content. I've got to stop looking at your kittens before I decide that I need a couple myself. I don't. Really. I.do.not.need.kittens. 😊

  10. Is your carpet real grass, or a grass colored carpet? It looks so good! Your kitties are so lucky! Talk about the city mouse and the country mouse...you have the city cats and the country cats!

  11. PURE COUNTRY for sure. Love this post and seeing all the pretty scenes AND ALL THE FUN ANIMALS. Tabitha and Samantha are growing like weeds and BOTH ARE SO SO PRETTY, they have sweet faces! I'm so glad you took two of them, they will best friends for ever and ever and they will never be lonely. I know one thing for sure, you've started off right if y'all want to take them places and not have to mess with kennels or people coming to feed them etc. When you start off early.........they will always be great little travellers and won't be terrified to get in the car, they will think it's normal and just go with the flow. My brothers dogs are stark raving terrifed to get in the vehicle....they think it means "vet" and shots and scary things, ha ha! It's best to have them acclimated to cars and going, we travel all over with our two dogs and our kitty, hotels and all.....well, back when people travelled, LOL!! It's more work but it's worth it.
