Sunday Things.....

It was good to be in church again this morning.
I went by myself as Louis Dean was just so tired and has spent a lot of time in bed this weekend.

After church I decorated the den tree with the fancy fall ornaments.

I always look forward to decorating this tree......I sometimes wish I could leave it this way all year long. Every year I have to search through the tubs to find these decorations so last year I put them in a box where I could get to them easily. Except things were put in front of the shelf in the storage building where they were (Louis Dean!) and I had just about given up when I found them! My bad for not remembering what the box looked like! I had been looking for something entirely different.

I hung around the house waiting for Louis Dean to get up from a nap knowing he was wanting to go with me to Quadville to see Amber and Mike and the kids. Alas, he woke up and said he just couldn't go. He hugged me and went back to bed. Tomorrow is their first day of school - second grade! How did THAT happen?? He hopes to feel better and go over to see them tomorrow afternoon when they get out.

I went on over and to their credit - they all ran out to greet me and did not say one word about Granddad. I know Amber must have told them why he wasn't with me. I admit to feeling like a second fiddle sometimes because they are so crazy about him! But I wouldn't have it any other way!
I brought pumpkin muffins for them and Dilly Bits - per Logan's request - and honey!
We had honey tasting from both the wildflower and the bitterweed honey. They agree the wildflower was best! Then we played Barbies - I hope I'm never too old to play with dolls - and after that Harrison and I played darts on the Wii.

Photos are courtesy of Logan who loves to take my camera and snap pictures and selfies and always makes a personal video message for me to watch later. This time it was SO precious it brought tears to my eyes!

She is my Mini Me! And I love her with all my heart!

From Quadville I drove on to Central Market - I LOVE that store!!
Not for every day things but for the special stuff!

I was in time for their Hatch Chili Festival and I bought several things.....
chips, salsa, hatch chilli's......

I love pecan coffee but vanilla cinnamon  pecan coffee??
Yes, please!

I checked out and drove on over to Rowlett where I am spending the night with Summer.
I'm taking her to the hospital in the morning where she will be getting injections in her L2-3, L4-5, and TFE-S1 - and I covet your prayers for my daughter. It will be 3 years on September 19th since Summer began this journey of pain and loss of so much of the life she had.

So I am closing out this night with a glass of wine and counting all my many blessings of this day.
Sweet dreams......

  1. Hello Linda my friend, was so glad to see a brand new post from you. Love that picture of you down there playing with those Barbies!!---mercy we could be twins!---there are many pictures of me sitting and doing the exact same thing. ha ha LOL I do love playing Barbies tho! So glad you got to visit with them before school starting and I am sure their first day will go just great. Best of luck at the hospital tomorrow, many prayers go with her for sure. I hate she has to get the shots but maybe just maybe it will help. If so, it's worth it and if not....well, on to the next thing I suppose. I'll be thinking of y'all. Hugs

  6. Oh I am glad that you visited the grands. I understand the “second fiddle” thing completely. As I recall, I really clicked more with my step-grandfather than with my grandmother as well. It is a great gift that you have given them in Louis Dean. That’s how I feel about the gift of John to my grands.

Yes, praying for Summer. It has been a rugged journey she’s been on . Praying for healing and restoration. Praying for you and Louis Dean, too. Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.

  7. Prayers for Summer - the challenges she has faced with such humour and grace. I'm so glad you're able to be with her during this time.
The grands are really growing! My grand twins are now juniors in high school, 16 years old. The time just seems to fly right by me.
I hope LD is resting and will be back to his "fighting" self soon, old age is definitely not for sissies, is it?
Love and prayers for all of you..

  12. now I am fretting over why LD is tired, if he did not go see the quads that is very odd. watch him carefully, I know he and bob are of an age to be tired but to tired means it might have a cause. bob is tired all the time also.. I hear him say to himself, I need to sit for a while which never used to come out of his mouth.. glad you got to visit the quads by your self and hope he gets to see them today....

  13. Now I am concerned for LD too.
When our Hubbys say they are tired and don't want to go to places they usually frequent..I see red flags going up.
Keep an eye on that dear husband of yours.
Maybe he has to learn that some jobs can be finished in several days...not all at once.
That heat of yours can really sap strength too.
Prayers for your daughter and all she is going through.
I'm so glad you could see the Grands and playing Barbies is wonderful. I see you were down on the floor doing it too...Bravo !! Getting down isn't hard for me...but...oh my the getting up again sure isn't pretty!!
    You are blessed beyond measure.

  14. Linda, Yes, I prayed for Summer. I wish that sweet girl could get relief. OMG, our babies in second grade...honestly Linda, It makes me want to cry. I text my Emma last night to tell her I was thinking of her and loved her and she was always my girl. She said she loved me too and had just yelled my name and did I hear her. I told her I always hear her in my heart. Our grandchildren mean the world to us. They are our blessings from God. Praying for LD to feel better and you...it may be the heavy heat making us all tired. LOL. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

  16. Praying for Summer and for relief from her pain. I hope the injections will help. Our oldest grandson starts 2nd grade tomorrow too. Our granddaughters will start 5th and 8th grade-the last year for both of them in their schools! Next year we'll have a Middle Schooler and a High Schooler! It's just going by way too fast! Hoping Louis Dean feels better tomorrow and can go greet the quads when they come home from their first day of school.
