September Morn 2018!

It's been a wonderful September First!!

The first thing I did when I got out of bed was to change the calendar.....

Second was lighting the first of my fall candles!

I passed this little guy and smiled back at him.

Lit the kitchen candle and started the coffee.

Pumpkin coffee!!
And the third and last fall candle was lit.

I took my first sip of coffee with the first note of Neil Diamond singing September Morn.
It is a private ritual and I turned Neil up fairly loud to drown out the sound of the TV!
Louis Dean was watching Daniel Boone!

I baked the Fruitcake Cookies!

Oops! I forgot to date it this time!

Just as I was getting ready to mix up the pumpkin muffins - I remembered I didn't have any eggs.
Louis Dean was such a blessing by going to the grocery store for me!

Next up - 3 dozen muffins hot from the oven!

Muffins and cookies are all in tins and bags and ready to give with a select few to keep for ourselves.

Reaoma was on my mind this afternoon.....
I went back in my Country Diaries to read about some of our visits.

After Doug and Reaoma moved to the log house they built down in East Texas, I would take Amber and Benjamin down there for a week every August. I learned to French braid on Reaoma's long thick hair. Then she and I braided Amber's. She swam with the Pirouettes of Texas and August was their only month off.

You can barely see Doug over there on the left hand side there.

Here is Reaoma back in the late 1990's.
She has meant so much to me and my children.

Since she was on my mind, I went over and visited with her for an hour or so this evening.
It was a good visit but when I had prayer, we both cried.

It has been a September First to remember!
The first of 30 for this month!

Along about 7:30 I turned the stereo off - much to Louis Dean's relief - and packed my bag and came back over here to Amber's to spend the night. Summer and I are both staying until Monday evening.

The quads went to bed and we settled down for facials and movies.
It's a Mother/Daughters kind of weekend!!!

  1. Lol--I just looked at FB and you posted about 3 minutes ago! You and the girls have really had an awesome time and more to come!! I know the quads are enjoying you, too!
Now--don't forget to date that recipe! It's a tradition, a September one at that.
    I think I'll have a hot spiced apple "tea"in a bit.
Thanks for your prayers. My 2 precious grandkids spent last night and today with me!! I have a big smile outside and inside!!
    Praying for you!πŸ’—

  2. I am so glad you posted this video! Though I have always loved Neil Diamond, I have never heard this song. When I was a teenager, I went to see him in concert, and had a very good seat. This was back when "Cherry Cherry" was popular. Did you see the movie where he played a Jewish cantor? Your memories with Reaoma are made so vivid with these photos. Such a sorrow in your heart.

  9. Now this is the post you’ve made me most eager for. (I have yet to change my calendars...denial? I think so.)

Anyway, I enjoyed listening to “September Morn” very much and only wish that Louis Dean had lived up to my expectations by taking you by the hand and waltzing you around the room. Ahhh... Well, perhaps the egg run more than made up for that! (I’m sure that he is thanking me for that comment. LOL!)

Happy times with your girls and grands!

Have a September to remember... πŸ‚πŸπŸ‚πŸΏπŸ‚πŸπŸ‚

  10. Happy September to you, Linda, your family, and all who visit here! My, you certainly were quite busy and productive... with your decorating, baking, and capturing it all to share here, too!

A slumber party with the family sounds like an extra fun idea for Labor Day Weekend! Enjoy every minute!

Also, thank you so much for visiting my site and becoming a new member! It's always a delight to meet new friends!

    Blessings, Net

  11. Linda, I love your anticipation of September. You have inspired me and I did get up a Fall wreath on the porch, and baked a large loaf of Pumpkin Bread. It's a start....haha. Love all your beautiful Fall decor. Had fruitcake cookies in Idaho on our Cousins Reunion. Love and Hugs.
