A Home Day!!

Today was special!
I stayed home all day long.
As in I did not get dressed, wear make up or go beyond the driveway.
This was the first day since we have been home that I didn't feel like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off!

I took my coffee out to gazebo - which I had just finished cleaning up late last night - and enjoyed just sitting in there.

I puttered around outside filling the pond and turning all the little lights off that I had left on all night.
That chair is a perfect place to sit and wait for the pond to fill so I don't run off and forget about it.
That happens with us a lot. We turn on the water for one thing or another and don't remember it for hours and hours!

I love our Plumbago and this is the first bloom of the year!

Honeysuckle and Trumpet vines meet!
I'm a sucker for anything that climbs and is easy to grow!
After I sashayed around the gardens, I went back to bed with a second cup of coffee just because.

Life was easy today.
I did a bit of housework and laundry. I cooked chicken and dumplings using the rest of a rotisserie chicken. I made a fresh vegetable medley and watched a little TV. I read some and played Scrabble.
Paid a couple of bills and packed up my art tub to take to the ranch.
Called Lillian to check on her.
Yesterday was pretty traumatic and she was visibly shaken when we visited.
She said Mother was in a bad mood last night and not much better today.
I had advised her to pull the curtain and keep to herself and she said that's what she did for part of the day.

Louis Dean did some serious moving of Sanford and Son from the back yard.
Half of our back yard area is pretty and the other half is awful.
My dream is to clean it ALL up but that hasn't happened yet and I truthfully can't even remember when it was all 'clean.' Probably back in the mid 1980's.
And it didn't last long. Probably less than 10 years total in all the 50 years I have lived here!
It's a goal but I don't get all bent out of shape over it.
My house is all cleaned up now and I am loving that.
I function better when things are as they should be.....and claim the Bible verse.....
I Corinthians 14:40
"Let all things be done decently and in order."
Or as close to it as possible!

That being said, my house is never 100% clean all the time but everything does get cleaned at least once in the year. Well.....most everything!

I think I will go to bed now.
Normal life resumes tomorrow!

  1. your gazebo looks like a very nice tranquil and relaxing place, I would love it too! The little pond there, is that a fish pond or do you have a little waterfall or fountain in it or both? We have fountains and I love the sound of the splashing water....so so relaxing. The quads b/day party looks like a blast, so fun! I bet they loved it and so many people were there! Loved the cake and the pretty cookies!

  2. Linda, Your outside spaces are like extra cozy rooms. I love the gazebo area. You can sit and smell the honeysuckle. I have a Sanford too. I look at the wood and things Ted hangs onto and I think it's over whelming. It's in the shop and storage area. We have a water feature up by the porch and it is soothing to listen to it while we sit out. Blessings , love, xoxo, Susie

  3. I'd be sure to have many home days by that little pond. So peaceful and relaxing. I just love those days I don't have to get dressed and run off any place. I usually end up in the kitchen. I told hubby it seems like I am always cooking.

  6. Nice to have a much quieter day at home now and then. You've been going full speed since you returned from the country. My house is never spotless, but it's comfy and lived in. What ever you decide to get up to today, hope it's a wonderful Wednesday for you !

  7. Poor Lillian --- she's been care-taking
so long, and this is very close to home for her.
We can't move some of our heavy furniture around in this tiny house, so a deep clean would be a dream for us. And a nightmare at the same time!I so regret the fact I can't seem to figure out what to throw away! I stopped going to yard sales and second hand shops -- my favorite thing to do! I didn't want to bring anything else in here! Now, having to have use cane, so much gets undone, and I dream of a clean house!!
Have a great time at the ranch!

  12. Hi Linda! :) Oh I love that you sashayed!!! I need to sashay a little more in my life too :) A stay at home day is wonderful. I always say I live the pajama life...no need to dress up or make up in my reality! :) I feel the same as you, everything needs to be in order, in their place or I feel uncomfortable and tense! Your gazebo is GORGEOUS!!! What a retreat!!! I laughed at Sanford and Son lol...I used to watch that show and can only imagine Louis Dean's side of the back yard!!! Hope you're having a lovely week! xx

  13. I'm with you...love a clean house, but it is never 100% clean at the same time. :) Sounds like perfect 'at home' day to me.
