We had Visitors to the Ranch Today!

While yesterday was bitterly cold and the winds were fierce, today brought much nicer weather.
The winds slowly died down throughout the day and the temps began to rise.
It was still a wintry day but a really nice one.

I woke up to a voicemail saying that Summer and Rayne were on their way down here to see us!
Rayne leaves to go back to her home in Puerto Rico on the 23rd and I had hoped to see her at least one more time before she left.

Summer must have known my heart and she took her out of school so they could make a special trip down here to the ranch. I was watching for them and walked up to unlock the gate.

Rayne and I walked back up to the camper while Mummers followed us slowly in her car.

Rayne was enchanted with EVERYTHING on the ranch - starting with the Neighbor Jackson's cows!

We went inside the camper and warmed up a bit before we gathered up some celery and went out to feed the horses.

This is one of my very favorite photos of the day!

Rayne loved the horses and the horses loved Rayne!

Next up - the goats!!!
We had some food for them - including some citrus. Only BBQ loves all things citrus!

On to the chickens and gathering eggs!

Rayne threw out some cracked corn for the chickens and roosters!

They appreciated it!
It was like a special treat since Dean had already fed them for the day.

Rayne loved all the animals.....

We had such a good time!

We visited every chicken pen and she kept saying, "What??? Another one??"
She was so impressed!
She took home half a dozen farm fresh eggs which they will be eating for breakfast in the morning!
They are extra special because she gathered them herself!

My sister, Luann, shared this photo on Facebook and when I quoted it to Rayne she laughed out loud!
Thank you, Sis!!

Rayne and I had such a good time together

I told her Sherry had lost her much loved peacock.
We watched videos of the beautiful ones we found online that looked like Sherry's.

Then I showed her some white peacocks like the ones Dean and Sherry want to get.

Guess what we were watching???

I hope the link works.....it's Kcstauffer and her super cute twins, Mila and Emma.
Rayne LOVED them! I do, too!

All too soon the afternoon was over and around 6:00 Summer and Rayne had to head for home.

Our final photo taken by Summer at the gate.
I will long treasure this one!

It was a very good day and a very good visit!
A day to remember!

It was a bit dull around here after they left.
Louis Dean was plugging up some of what he calls his 'pneumonia holes.'
In other words - where the draft comes in!

We cooked hot dogs on the ceramic grill out in the new room and watched a good movie!

I realized that THIS is where I picked up one of my favorite sayings!!
Win! WIN!!!

Goodnight from our Cozy Chapman Camper!!!

  2. How wonderful for Summer and Rayne to visit! Rayne growing so fast, and she's beautiful. I know she enjoyed it, she looked so proud of toting the chicken feed herself! She won't get to do that in Puerto Rico!
So glad you had a visit with her and Summer!

  8. Sweet visit! I can’t believe they are going back so soon. Is everything okay in PR? Their home is okay? It obviously must be or they’d not return.
