Mission Accomplished!!!

Louis Dean and I slept like babies last night!
It was 10:00 - okay! - AFTER 10:00 before we were up.
The aroma of sausage, bacon and all things 'breakfast' brought us out of their amazing guest room and into the light of a Saturday in Fort Worth!

Before I took this picture, Louis Dean had swabbed both cheeks as had Nita a few hours earlier and the kits were addressed, stamped and mailed off to get their DNA results.
Louis Dean got into the spirit of it all and has begun to research his family tree!
We are expecting Native American in his results as he IS a card carrying Cherokee Native American.
After breakfast Nita and I continued some of our research - I had brought two laptops so - in addition to Nita's home computer - we ALL three had access to the Internet to research our 'roots!'

Nita and Mike have THE most interesting home I have ever been in!!
I chose to feature the living room for this visit.

It is a BEAUTIFUL room!

So many pretty things to look at and take in.

Nita and Mike have true antiques!
I specialize in 'debris!'

The foyer......

the secretary.......

Their home is chock full of all kinds of treasures!

This desk was handmade by our Uncle Harry - Aunt Irene's husband!

Louis Dean and I were finally off to do the rest of Mother's wardrobe shopping!!
Stein Mart and Walmart finished it up and then we drove over to deliver all the merchandise!!

She loved it all!!

She REALLY loved this outfit!!!

I bought things that would mix and match!

It was a win! WIN!!!

I still need to get one pair of slide in shoes but that will happen in the next week or so!

She was one happy lady!!!
This was the outfit she decided to keep on!
EVERYTHING I bought - FIT!!!
AND she liked it ALL!!!
4 pairs of pants - 1 white and 1 black of really good quality - and 2 pair of casual pants.
6 tops that mix and match + a pair of Nike sandals + some lingerie!

She was a happy camper!
My job here was done and Louis Dean and I headed for home.
Alas, our car A/C is quirky and only works if you hit a bump and it connects!
Soooooo.......we drove home with me hitting every single bump in the road I could find and 1/3 of the way - the A/C came on and STAYED on until we pulled up in our driveway!
Louis Dean is going to try and figure this thing out!
In the mean time - we unloaded, put up and sat a spell before he went to his projects and I tackled the front rose/rosemary/honeysuckle flower bed in front of the house by the porch and in front of his music room and the guest room! DONE......nearly! I will still have to mulch and weed eat the honeysuckle back after church tomorrow.

All in all - we really needed this Fort Worth weekend and spending time with my siblings!
I came home renewed and refreshed!

And regarding my fatigue - yes, I am still concerned but perhaps it is simply a matter of aging.
I had thyroid cancer - aggressive cancer at that - back 27 years ago. So I have no thyroid and have been on medication ever since 1989. I will be getting a full panel of blood work and am looking forward to visiting with Dr. Suma Abraham - my doctor for so many years that I knew her before she had four children - who are all now in high school and college!! I am really a fan of long term relationships!!!

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday!

  1. Love that you had wonderful family weekend. My husband has always wanted to search his ancestry, sounds so interesting. Best of luck to LD and Nita! Nita and Mike's home is just beautiful.

I love the clothes you bought your mother. She is so darn cute and she still has a lovely figure. And that smile...

I wasn't aware you were having the fatigue, I've missed a few posts. I've been undergoing all sorts of tests as well after testing positive for mono. That seemed to solve the problem with my fatigue and infections, but in seeing a infectious disease doctor, he thinks I have another related virus for which there is some medication. We'll see. Sleeping 15 hours a day is sad.

Keep us posted. Sending a hug...

  2. Thyroid cancer. So glad that is a kind that is easy to fix! I have a friend who had her thyroid out because of this. So now I will stop nagging you to get it checked, ha ha! I love the desk in the living room. I have a secretary almost just like this one! You sure doe know your mom's style. She looks SO happy in these clothes! Job well done!

  3. Oh that your mom loved all her new outfits makes me happy and she looks especially lovely in her photos. Well done, Linda!

Also enjoyed the tour of Nita's living room. Beautiful furnishings...that homemade desk is amazing!

Your description of driving home hitting every bump had me grinning. I have a stretch of road up heah that probably would permanently "fix" it if Louis Dean can't figure it out. 😉

Yay for long-term doc~patient relationships and I am glad that you will soon be investing in yours. 👍🏻

  7. Linda, will you go shopping for me??? I hate shopping! I think i hate the mirrors that show every bump and bulge. I just had to have my thyroid med bumped up a bit. I have hypothryroidism and I have been on meds for about 10 years now. It can make you feel very tired so I am hoping that is all that it is. I am so glad you have a good doctor who you trust.

  8. I really liked the little fashion show your mom put on. Everything looks great on her. I know it makes her feel better to have clothes that actually fit.

It sounds like a loose wire or something with the A/C in the car. Hope it's an easy fix.

  11. Linda, Your mother's joy was well worth all the shopping, I'd say. She looked so nice. I love the top with yellow in it. LD is looking nice at breakfast. I love to smell coffee and toast in the mornings. :) You are still getting much done with fatigue even. But a good check up will let you know if anything is amiss. Blessings to all. xoxo, love , Susie

  12. What a great thing to do for your mom and she looks just lovely in all of them. I am thrilled everything fit her and that she liked all of it.
Hubby has to go to a thyroid specialist, too. I think his thyroid was completely destroyed with the radiation for his head/neck cancer.
It will be interesting to see the results of LD's ancestry testing.
Have a wonderful upcoming week- xo Diana

  15. Your Momma looked so happy and was ready to model those new clothes. I may have to the DNA thing one day. We think my Mom's mom had indian in her. All the brothers and sisters had thick jet black hair and the widows peak. Would be interesting to find out
