Country Fresh Eggs, a Trip to Waco and the Appaloosa Trading Post.....

Farm fresh eggs come in such pretty colors!
I think I will cook up some bacon and eggs for breakfast in the morning but today we just had coffee and Pumpkin Spice Donuts. At least I did! The guys, Louis Dean and Grandson Robert, had Breakfast Tortillas - the Jimmy Dean kind that come in a big box from Sam's.

I let the guys go down and do the chores this morning since I needed the extra time to get ready.
We were going to TOWN!

Our first stop was Appaloosa Trading Post!
As soon as you walk in the door you can catch the manly smells of leather and woods!

Appaloosa Trading Post is a Western store with custom furniture and a large selection of jewelry, boots, saddles and tack!

This bear was a little too expensive for my budget but he made a fun photo op!

Louis Dean asked for my camera and took this snapshot of the building.
Pretty cool place!

As we were driving into Waco, I was chatting with a friend on Facebook.
Christi lives in Arizona while another friend, Kathy, is up in Pennsylvania and yet both of them knew about Magnolia here in Waco!! Christi even sent me directions! Just this week they opened in a new location and Christi got the new address for me!

You can read about the Surprise Soft Opening.
I must live under a rock because I had never heard about Chip and Joanna Gaines and their HGTV hit show 'Fixer Upper!' You can bet I am now following her blog and I'm planning on going back to Waco before we head home and visit Magnolia Market! Perhaps Sherry will go with me.
She would be a better shopping buddy than Louis Dean and Grandson Robert!!

I did find a Michael's and ran in to get a tube of Burnt Umber paint! YES!

Our next stop was HEB and we were in heaven!
It always reminds me of a party every time I go!!

I had been looking forward to Mexican food days and normally you can find a Mexican restaurant on every corner - UNLESS you are looking for one!! We finally spied El Conquistador just as we were about to give up! Fajitas for LD, nachos for Robert and a Taco Salad for me!
We went back to the camper full and sleepy!
Robert left this afternoon to go back home. We sure enjoyed him being here and he was a lot of help to his granddad with the goats and chickens. We miss him already.

I managed to get a few minutes of art in before the sun set!
After the sun went down and before it got dark, I went on a bike ride.
There's nothing as good as the smell of fresh country air! Perhaps it's the hay - I'm not sure WHAT it is but it does smell GOOD down here!! There was a smoky fog drifting across the field and at first I thought it was dust from the road after a truck drove by. I rode my bike across the field and into the mist.

The clouds were pretty but no rain is in the forecast and it was in the upper 90's today!
Doesn't seem much like October!
Louis Dean was sitting outside on the deck and called me out to feel the RAIN!
It came a short - VERY short - light shower - VERY light!
Still, it was wonderful!!!

We ate so much at lunch that we will just snack on fruit tonight.
Louis Dean wants to watch the stars for awhile so I will join him for a bit.
Then I will come in and read before bed. Just started a Belva Plain book - Fortune's Hand.
We are becoming Country Folk going to bed so early!

  15. Well, Linda --- now I have to check out FIxer Upper, and yet another blog to read, too.! (I really loved hearing about your trip to town with LD, your shopping trip, Appaloosa Trading Post, Magnolia and HEB---none of which we have here! And the intense search for Mexican food!) Thanks so much for getting back to me, "Artlady." I so enjoyed hearing from you! Be safe! :) Trudy
