Louis Dean is feeling a little better as I write this evening. I did, indeed, get him to the doctor. His oxygen level was good and his lungs were clear. Acute bronchitis was the diagnosis.
Rather than type it all over again, I copied part of a message I sent my sister, Deanie, this afternoon.
"Louis Dean is sick and I am tired! That makes us sick AND tired! Not been a good day! Having car trouble where the car loses power power and then starts trembling and shaking. I coast to the side of the road and turn it off. I wait a minute and then start the car again. It did it once on Tuesday and twice today! Makes me nervous!
9:00 doctor appointment and then we went downstairs to the pharmacy and waited nearly an hour for his prescriptions. Finally they called our name! Only one! Antibiotic but no cough syrup. Pharmacy called upstairs to the doc. No answer. I went back up to the office and waited 20 minutes while the receptionist tried to contact them and still nothing. A nurse opened the door to call a patient and the receptionist flagged her down and asked her to call the desk. Still nothing. Finally I went back downstairs, paid for the one and we came home. When I went to give him his first dose I couldn't find the medicine! Thought I left it at the pharmacy so I went BACK up to the hospital! Not there! Found it in the car floor board! Car died on the way home but it started up again! Went back home, gave him his meds, we ate and went to bed! After my nap I drove BACK up to hospital and with an ambulance coming up behind me, the car died again! I was able to coast around a corner and turn it off. It restarted. I was nearly to the hospital but there is a lot of construction going on and I didn't want to take a chance on the car stalling again so I drove back home and got the honking big truck! BACK to the hospital and got the cough syrup, stopped at the Dollar store and got Louis Dean some sausage links and orange juice.....he wants to make pigs in a blanket! I FEEL like a pig in a blanket! Anyway I'm back home and put my gown on so I hope I'm feeling better in just a few minutes! "
The nice thing about waiting at Brown's Pharmacy was all the pretty things to look at.
While it didn't fill up the entire hour we were there - it was interesting!
They have a huge selection of extra nice greeting cards!
Not your everyday average ones......
the kind that has a personal feeling to the message.
I love reading greeting cards!
Clever ones like this one!
There was even a rack of pithy sayings for this modern technology that surrounds us these days.
I got a big kick reading the cocktail napkins!
Haha!!
I can relate to this!
That's a good one!
However, tonight I am saving the wine and drinking water!!
We had breakfast for supper tonight!
Louis Dean tried his hand at pigs in a blanket.
Most of them lost their cover but they tasted good!
I pretty much lost the wind in my sails today.
We were meant to be down on the ranch but that didn't happen.
Not sure WHEN we will get to go now what with one thing after another on the calendar for the next several weeks. Someone (I can't remember who) cheered me up by saying, "Well, one thing about it! The ranch isn't going anywhere!"
Louis Dean seems to be improving at last. While he stayed in bed all afternoon (and so did I!) he did manage to eat two meals today and sit up more. He's in his music room right now strumming his guitar and I take that as a very good sign!
It's 8:00 and the sun has gone behind the trees so I'm going to go out and water and then call it a day myself. I think this energizer rabbit just ran of of battery!

Hang in there Linda. Get that car into the repair shop before you are stranded on the side of the road in the 100 degree heat. I hope LD is better asap!
My battery run down just reading your post. Trust things improve for both of you quickly.
Bless your dear hearts! It has been a day! Sickness is frustrating. Car troubles are frustrating. Running back and forth and back and forth is frustrating. Uggh.
Praying that the Lord of Glory gives you strength and grace tonight!
(Your comment on my blog touched my heart! To know that you are in someone's daily prayers is one of the most wonderful things of all! Hugs to you...)
Linda, When you did not post, I was scared something was going wrong there. Holy cow....that sounded like a circus at the drs. . Wish you had someone to trust your car with. That is scary it stopping like that. Please take good care of each other. You are in my prayers. Love, Susie
It all sounded like a circus, but then I see you finding things to take photos of, and thinking you always find something to post about. Nothing seems to stop you. I'm so sorry for all your troubles and for LD being sick. Bless your heart. I did chuckle at the person's attempt to cheer you up!
Oh sweet friend! Sometimes life just gets on the way. What hell you went thru in the hospital. I too just got a big bump in the back of my car from a taxi driver and Mr. Living things I probably did something wrong, but heck!...the guy crashed my car, lol!
Anyhow, that's life with it's ups and down.
I do hope LD gets back his health and you get your car fixed and rest up sweetie.
Hope you have a rested weekend and blessings.

My dear bloggy friend, if I could send some energy your way I sure would. I truly hop that your hubby is on the mend now, so hard to stay strong on such a long stretch. You are such a kind sweet lady and you so deserve a ranch vacation. If I was anywhere near you I would volunteer to come over and help you clean and fall decorate (because I know you love that). Keep your chin up - and don`t be afraid to have a glass of wine or two :)
Your letter to your sis was so real that my eyes welled up. Some days are like that and it is hard to find the beauty or joy in them. Praying for a calm, restful weekend for you both and a resolution to the car problem. God is in control and He will work all these things out as we yield to Him. Many blessings...
PS sounds like car alternator to me...I don`t know much about cars but that or a clogged fuel filter :(
Just when you think it can't get worse... it does. Your message to your sis just touch me deeply as I know you didn't need this in your life today. I remember someone telling me that as bad as it seems...everything has to go through God's filter before it can touch us...he's making diamonds out of coal, and that takes pressure. I'm so glad LD is doing better tonight. Do take care of Linda too. Sending love and hugs
Somedays are like that around here too. Try disconnecting the battery to your car and then connecting it up again, that will restart your computer in your car.
Acute Bronchitis is no fun. Has LD been tested for Alpha1 Antrypsin Deficiency? It is a free test ask your Pulmonary Doctor about it. Many people have it and they don't know it. My husband has it and weekly infusions are keeping him reasonably well. WE are also perfume free, which means no essential oils or candles since they will make things worse:(
Linda, I am continuing prayers for you and Louis Dean. I am so glad you got my e-mail, and I keep looking at the bookmark, it is so lovely! I don't believe I have ever had pigs in a blanket, but your supper looks delicious and I love the plate it is on! Very attractive. :)
Oh no, too many trying trouble moments. But finaly you are home and all the many hard moments over. Sleep tight in your cozy safe home and rise with a rested feeling tomorrow. Many warm hugs and lots of loving thoughts - plus all the respect for driving several times to the hospital with a bad car! I think that was so brave - you DO not give up easily and you DO take care of LD and show your love. You are my hero, Linda!
awwww linda, i hope you both feel better soon!! i love pharmacies, the mom and pop ones, they have the best cards and the best little chotskies!!! (i can't believe i spelled that right but it's not getting underlined)!!!
please get that car checked....i will worry endlessly that you will be stranded somewhere in the darkness and heat!!
the sun will come out tomorrow, i have a feeling!! xo
Bless your heart Linda...hope today is better for you. When our men do not feel good we do not feel good either. But if he is back to strumming on the guitar, I think he is perking up!!
you should get your car to the doctor to. you don't want it to die and have to get it towed. Bob is a mechanic, he said it could be as simple as a fuel filter, or some filter that is partially clogged... what ever it is it will not fix itself... don't get stranded. what kind of car is it. email me.
hope LD feels much better today and that today is much better than yesterday
What a day you had Linda! For starters, get your car fixed. You don't need the added stress of not knowing if it will get you where you need to be.
If you like greeting cards, you will LOVE uncooked cards. If you want/need a laugh, google them. Trust me on this one. ;)
xxx
Hang in there mom! I'm the one that reminded you the ranch will still be there when you get around to going. None of these things are life altering. Just wasn't your finest day! The next one is usually better... Love you!
I would have melted away if I had your day....You are a tough gal and don't give yourself enough credit or rest....drink more wine:)
Some days are just so frustrating! Thanks for being real. I am glad for you all that Louis Dean has a diagnosis and an antibiotic! Praying he is better soon!
Deanna
Wishing you a better day tomorrow Linda! Hope the car spontaneously fixes itself - cos otherwise it'll have to go to get fixed. Best wishes to both of you. Cheers
I can feel the stress of the day just leaping off the page here Linda. Multiple hospital trips and car trouble too. No fun atall X
I feel for LD and that acute bronchitis. It sucks. One year I got it 3 times.
You should be tired after that day. Holy cow. I think I would crawled back in bed and pulled the covers over my head.
Hope the days are better now
