Celebrating FRIDAY!!!

Fridays just seem to have a special HOLIDAY feel to them!
Time to kick back and relax and have FUN!
Deanie and I arranged to meet half way from her place and mine for coffee this morning!
Let me just tell you right here and now that NEITHER one of us has ANY sense of direction!!
NONE! NADA! Not ONE bit!!!!
I am seriously considering getting one of those direction thing-of-ma-gigs when we buy our next vehicle. I get lost a lot.

Did I say we planned to meet for MORNING coffee????
We were both in the area at the agreed time of 11:00!!!

It was nearly 12:30 when we FINALLY sat down with our coffees and vanilla scones!!!

I followed HER!!!!
But I wouldn't have done any better!!!
We had a good visit and put some dates on our calendars!
Hawaiian Falls and Berger's Lake, Quad Wednesday and visits with our cousins.
It is a well known fact that if we really want to stay involved in each other's lives we MUST PLAN to do things together!!!
It was after 2:00 before we began to wind down in our talking and planning!
SHE went off to have lunch with HER beloved and I cam home to mine!

Bless his heart! He is using a cane to get around with these days and tires out so easily.
I found him fast asleep in the guest room! I tiptoed out......

and made a simple lunch of salad and HIS version of 'Goulash.'

He uses ground beef, onions, potatoes, carrots and celery and it looks more like a Hamburger Stew to me. MY goulash is ground beef, macaroni, onions and tomatoes! Much different but both good!

Since he was already napping - I decided to go back to bed, too!
There is something DELICIOUS about an afternoon nap!!!
I knew ahead of time - it will be a late night!

Last night I put a bowl of pinto beans in to soak so when I got home today, I drained, rinsed and put them on to cook with a good bit of garlic and pinto bean seasoning and some of the ham I saved from last week's dinner party! I did this BEFORE my nap so when I woke up - the house smelled so GOOD!!! I baked up an iron skillet of cornbread and knew Louis Dean would be one happy husband!! I was right!

Early in the evening is a good time to pull weeds - or TREES, in my case!!
We have elms and pecans and junk trees coming up as prolifically as WEEDS!!!
I filled a trash sack FULL!
Maddie loves to come outside and stroll around while I work.
I swear - I could work all day long - from the time I wake up to the very end of the day for several days in a row and STILL not get everything done!!! Yard work, housework, cooking, laundry, feeding and watering pets, filling our pill boxes, and a multitude of other mundane but necessary chores take so much TIME!!!!

Sometimes we just have to STOP!!!!
That's what I did this evening!
I gathered all my spa essentials and set them up in a corner of the gazebo. I poured a chilled glass of white wine and I was ready to relax!!!

Who KNEW a home pedicure would feel so GOOD???

Louis Dean has gone to bed and I linger still in the gazebo reading my Country Diary from 2005.
We are just one week away from celebrating our TENTH wedding anniversary!

This is my journal entry from April 30th, 2005.
We 'matched' on eHarmony on April 19th.....

I can barely read my own writing but we first met at the Fort Worth Zoo and spent the whole day together ending with dinner at a Mexican restaurant.
I love the words I wrote - ' nice man - a little ADD .... we'll see.'

Little did I know then that I had met THE love of my life!!!

This was THE very first photo of us together!
Mother took it on Saturday April 30th, 2005.
She KNEW he was the one because I just naturally fit in under his arm!
Before, I didn't even hug my brother and was pretty stand offish with everyone.
We were married just two months later on June 26th, 2005.

I have said it before and I say it again - God saved the very BEST part of my life to the last!!!

  1. You two were a match made in heaven. I love that you kept that country diary--I used to, too, and I can't find them anymore.

Your food makes my mouth water!

  3. I picked a good night for a visit, Linda, because you told this sweet story of meeting your love!!

Ahhh, Starbucks is a good way to start the morning, even if it is a little later than planned.

No indeed, one never catches up to all that there is to do. You just have to do what you can and stop for a pedicure now and then. Good move. :)

  4. What a perfect day, and I love your ending love story. What a special couple you to are. A perfect match. My dearest and I will celebrate our anniversary on the 24th.
We got up early for breakfast with M and C, and then we had a Party at the Clubhouse at 1 pm for June Birthdays and Father's Day.... I came home and and crawled into bed and didn't wake up till 6:30....It was a good napping day for all of us. Sending Hugs. (love your first pic together)

  6. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's awful with directions. I just use the GPS on my phone. It's a lifesaver.

Pinto beans and cornbread sounds so delicious right now.

I really enjoyed hearing how you and Louis Dean first met and that first picture of the two of you is so sweet. It's great that you kept that diary. I only wish I knew where my old journals were... :)

  9. Would love to hear more of your "love story"!! Another eHarmony success!! I know what you mean about planning to get together. I seem to be the one in our group of friends who is bossy and in charge of setting a date. If someone does not step up, it will not happen. Praying for LD as he nears his surgery.

  11. Linda, You and LD are a truly beautiful couple, inside and out. What matched about you two is your hearts . You are both hard workers and kind loving people. I think God did good matching you two. Love you guys, Susie

  12. I have no sense of direction and am always using the GPS. It has saved me so many times! But at least you got there and had time with your sister. I make goulash like my grandmother did and it is more like LD's than yours. They both sound good though. A pedicure to end the day sounds wonderful!

  13. What a wonderful journey you've had together! "A little ADD" hahahaha! So cute. Praying for Louis Dean to keep steady on to that surgery date. No fun to be hobbling. Very interesting that Louis Dean has brought out the people person I consider you to be!

  17. What a fabulous story! Wishing you both many more happy years together. You just know when it's 'the one'. I met my husband on a blind date! I met him at 10 past 8(I was late) and by half past 9 I was in love. Of course I didn't tell him that at the time! X

  19. You're so funny. Your phone probably has google maps and it can talk and give you directions. I remember waiting on you at Star Bucks last year.

OMG I love it. "Nice man, a little ADD" Too cute Linda. That made my day.
You and LD are made for each other that's for sure.
