Music, Food and Football......

Louis Dean got his New Year off to a good start!! Playing MUSIC with his friends!

Brenda sings like an ANGEL and Wayne plays like a dream....

They all three LOVE to play music! Louis Dean has been searching for a group to play with and thinks his cup is overflowing now! He starts Dobro lessons this week and has another couple coming to play soon.

I think this is one happy man! That's his 'Happy Music Face' above.....
doesn't LOOK like it but it IS!

SO what did I do while they played?

Needlework!

We had a wonderful day! Good music from really good musicians! Good food....black eyed peas, ham, mashed potatoes, cornbread, garden salad, tea and for dessert....Cornmeal Pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream! After Brenda and Wayne left we settled down to some serious football!! How great it was to watch TCU WIN the Rose Bowl Game????? Pretty fantastic!

It was cold in the DFW area yesterday and we kept the fireplace burning all day and into the evening.
I ended my 2010 journal and started the new 2011 one....changed all my calendars and selected new devotional books for this new year. I love closing one door and opening another! I have neglected to actually PRINT pics to put in my journal so I made several Cd's of photos and will make a trip to Sam's to have them made. I want to hang new pics of my kids in the guest room as well. I love photos.....and I have dozens displayed in the house! What is a home without photos? Or live plants? or pets?
By evening's end my allergies had decided to attack me so I was off to bed early and hopefully can ward off being sick all the month of January as has been the case for the last three years!

A happy New Year! Grant that I......

May bring no tear to any eye
When this New Year in time shall end
Let it be said I've played the friend,
Have lived and loved and labored here,
And made of it a happy year.

  3. You always have the most fun and I love hearing about it. Music and good food...how nice!! I have to start my new journal as well...even if it is only a few lines, I have been cooped up.

Sorry about your allergies...I have had a cold for weeks...it just doesn't want to let up. Some says are okay and I keep going, other days I am just so tired of it all. Get better soon.

    XO,
    Jane

  4. Linda,
Hope you and LD are feeling better soon! My Grandpa used to play the french harp and fiddle(as he called them) and he taught me to chord along on the piano. His favorite was "Little Brown Jug." He would sing the lyrics, too :) Wonderful times! Seeing your pictures reminds me so much of those times.
