Loved Galveston and Love our Home....

Wednesday was our last full day to be in Galveston and it was an excellent one.

We walked across the seaweed and I waded in the water as we picked up shells.

Louis Dean carried my beach shoes as he picked up the treasures of the beach.
When we got home, we put them in our garden as ground cover.

It was sheer bliss to sit at the water's edge and listen to the waves....and the seagulls....

The best thing about this trip was we were right across the street from the beach
Not a grain of sand in our car!

Another bonus was the rip currents that made for great wave watching!

After our last walk on the beach, as we were right in front of our condo, I told Louis Dean I needed to go on in to the lobby and use the restroom. I said, "Just follow me!"
When I came out and didn't see him, I knew he got confused and simply walked on up Seawall Blvd!
When I caught up with him and was standing right beside him before he noticed me, and he was disoriented but had no idea of where he was. I just said, "Let's go back to the condo." And we did.
Later I asked him if he knew he was lost and was he scared? No to both. Praise God!
My hope and prayer is that he doesn't feel afraid.

When we got to the condo, he sat on a chair at the pool wjile I went in the hottub and calmed myself down for 15 minutes.

Our dinner plans was to eat at The Gypsy Joynt on 61st Street - but that wasn't our style.
For one - it was so dark we couldn't even read the menu!

So we ended up at Salsa's for Mexican food!!

Tortuga was our favorite Mexican restaurant and where Jutta (my dear friend in Finland) loved to eat!
But we had a good time here.
They had a mararchi band that went around singing at the tables and when they came to ours - I had gone to the restroom!
Our server said she stayed with him and danced around and made a memorable moment for him.
God is good!

One last sit on the balcony before we drove home!
Check out was at 11:00 and we locked the door as we left at 10:45

What with stopping for lunch and refueling. we arrived home before 5:00!
Win! WIN!!!

It was good to settle back in and pet our cats and start laundry, put things to rights and just enjoy being home.
What a blessing God has provided for us to get away and then have a lovely home to return afterwards.

Friday afternoon Louis Dean had a follow up visit regarding his toe injury.
While it's improving, it still shows a bit of infection and we have another appointment next week before they give him the all well sign!

I try to do something special after doctor appointments - and at our age we have so many!
Aldi was our stop when we left the doctor's office.
We were all out of fresh vegetables and fruits as well as milk and bread.....
It's good to be home!

I woke up to Louis Dean singing Have I Told You Lately That I Love You....
His 'music room' is such a blessing for him.
He can piddle and work and organize and whatever he wants to do just shy of spray painting and using power tools.

Louis Dean has dementia and Alzheimer's and him having this room where he can do whatever he wants is a game changer. He is never bored as he always has something in his room that he can sort, organize, regroup and so on.....
He's very creative and made this closet cutain of his overalls!
His mind is cloudy and confused and yet he continues to create and communicate.

He has so many memory photos from his beloved Ellen and his granddaughters and then his adopted daughter Amber and her children as well as my mother when she helped him pick out a new guitar after our house was burgled in April of 2012 and he needed a repalcement.

I am going to end this journal entry as I have a lot more to tell about next time....

Loved this hanging in the master bedroom of our condo!
