Cats, Organ to the Curb, New Coffee Pot and Treats for Halloween Plus I'm Loving my Kitchen Christmas Vibes!!

Tabitha is the smartest of our two cats and is my constant companion especially at night.

When we have the attic fan on - as we have had the last few days instead of the AC - she is right there with us when we go to bed!

She gets some loving from Louis Dean and then settles down at my feet for the night.
When I get up to go to the bathroom, she follows me back to bed and cuddles up at my side.
I love our kitties!!!

Tuesday was a busy BUSY day!

I bought this organ in September 1983 after my house fire in June of that year.
I took lessons and tried my best to play songs that my family recognized.
Back then my family bought me ear phones so they didn't have to hear me practice.
I admit - I was never very good and yet I kept trying for years and years.
It felt good to take this to the curb and I was happy when someone picked it up the next day!
I had sacked up all my music books in a bag and hope someone can enjoy it!

That thing was HEAVY but between the two of us - we goy it out and it did not sit on the curb long before I noticed it was gone!
I am so glad someone else can enjoy it!

YES!!!
Amber and Benjamin were born in 1985 and 1988 so that organ had always been there!
I'm loving the space and will put up the large white Christmas tree in that corner.

I made my visit with Brenda for Tuesday Treasures.
We both found a few but I only took pics of this coffee pot!
Louis Dean broke his pot last week and has been using an old one but it's a challenge.
He was SO happy when I showed him my treasure! $9.99!! And it was brand new!
Probably received more than one coffee pot in a shower or something so it was donated.

After thrifting, I shopped Aldi for treats for our Halloween Trick or Treaters!

We ended up giving out most of this but Louis Dean will enjoy the remains.

Louis Dean is the best sport ever!
He unloaded all my Christmas tubs on Thursday- and there were MANY!

Do you see what I see??

Tabitha has figured a way out from the bedrrom - she bumps against the screen door and there she goes!
Note to self.....keep the screen latch on when the door is open!

Louis Dean and I worked hard all day Thursday with taking fall our and Christmas in.....
but at 4:00 in the afternoon, I took a hot shower and LD took a good long hot bath!

By 5:30 we were outside on the driveway waiting for customers!

Ilene joined us and we had a nice Halloween evening with some sweet trick or treaters and I had a platter of cheese, crackers and ham and salami with glasses of Sauvignon Blanc - our favorite!

Can you say ,"Trick or Treat?"
Yes!
But he didn't.....

We had a lot of fun and it was good to have to stop our work and enjoy seeing the young people out and about and having a good time!

Instead of walking the neighborhood, the parents drove their children to the houses that were obviously welcoming the Trick or Treaters!

We had fun and I turned off all the lights right after 8:00.
Most of the treats were gone but Louis Dean will get a sweet snack day by day.

We are making so many changes in our life right now!

I'm switching from Spectrum back to Frontier where I first had FIOS back in 2003!
Our equipment was now obsolete so it was like a 'new' installation.
I haven't cancelled Spectrum yet so our Internet connection goes on.

I'm decorating for Christmas and will be doing a different theme for each room and I am excited about that!

The kitchen is all about Buffalo plaid and Christmas plaid.

I used two tableclothes to add to the curtains....
and I'm loving it!

Making the transition from Fall to Christmas!
It's a lot of work but I am focussing on one area at a time.
I'm in my Happy Place!

My dear friend, Sharilyn, sent me this beautiful one of a kind quilt and I am so blessed and humbled for her gift. So many stitches and prayers in this gorgeous quilt and I will use this as a prayer reminder for her as she is having some health struggles.
I love her and hope to fly out to Utah to meet her someday.
We are due for a real life hug!

I close tonight's journal entry with the Santa painting for 2025!
Amber found this and it is PERFECT!
I'll give Amber the original and make a canvas copy for me....

Amber is helping me order the Christmas cards for this year....
I changed my address book last year and missed a few friends so if you would like a Christmas card please send me your address by email.

The cards are my gift to all of you for your love, encouragement and support.
The give away this year will be the Green Santa playing the guitar.

I will start the giveaway with this post and will pick the winners (I hope to have two Santa canvasses to give away) on Monday , November 25th!
If you comment 'anonymous' please leave at least your first name at the end so I can include you in the drawing.

May I be the first to wish you a very Merry Christmas Season!!

  2. When I go to Goodwill, I often wonder why someone donated things. And this coffee maker is so new, wonder why they gave it away? As the song goes "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" at your house!!

  3. Your cat sure does love you - brave out there on the roof. It's funny how coffee is so important - but it is - I have to have a cup every morning or I don't function. You sure do keep busy - lots of changes. Looks like Christmas.

  4. I haven't been to a thrift store in a long time. Every time I see your finds it makes me want to go look.
Good for you going into Christmas decorating. If it makes you happy then it's perfect. I always wait till after Thanksgiving dinner so it's fair game to begin Thanksgiving night :)

  5. I'm so glad you found the coffee pot for LD! I wonder where your basket got off to! lol No matter...glad you found another pot for yourself.
The house is looking very Christmassie!! Love it! But my favorite holiday is Christmas, anyway. I keep a Christmas tree (tall skinny tree) up all year for our Grandsons who are not with us..(Air Force).
I'll also be working on our tree soon...hopefully.
    Happy weekend!
    hugs

  7. Looks like you found yourself..or should I say..Louis Dean a good deal there. I can't believe the two of you were able to get the organ moved. That was a big job!! You have been very busy but I know that when you are all done decorating it will be beautiful. You will have to post pictures of your Christmas decor. Hope you take some time to rest this weekend...sending warm hugs to you.

  8. You're making me tired! I love that you put the organ out to the curb, and someone scored it, bet that made them so happy. We had a piano in our living room for years, it was from a kindergarten classroom at the elementary school, it belonged to a teacher who was there for decades. When she retired, the piano had to go (she sang to those lucky kids every day!)...it was gorgeous, but none of us really played, and it took up so much room! I love your thrifty finds too, I love the thrift stores. And yay for decorating for Christmas! During Covid, we decided to decorate before Thanksgiving...my husband was puzzled, but it made the girls happy, so why not? Do what makes you happy. I can't wait to see all the pictures when you're done!

  11. I'll be in Texas next week! We will all go to San Antonio to see the oldest twin graduate from Air Force Basic Training. We've really missed him and are excited about seeing him again. His tech school will be in Wichita Falls, but praying he can come home for Christmas! The Hockey Santa is absolutely perfect!!! Glad both of you are doing well.

  12. I look forward to seeing your themed Christmas rooms, Linda! You live a creative and generous and beautiful life! I do so admire you. Love the hockey Santa! We moved 5 weeks ago and don't have much artwork up in our new house (yet). Working on things day by day. Glad to see you are making changes to enhance your home and your life. Hugs and prayers, Beth

  13. Dear Linda and Louis Dean, it is so good to hear about your days. We have been in the new house exactly one month. My fingers are sore, cracked and hurting from all the packing, unpacking and breaking the cardboard down. But we are settled and enjoying watching the crew do our outside work for us. I love seeing you enjoy your life and especially when you share your beautiful home. I'll try to stay more in touch! I will send you our new address! jackie and J. R.

  14. When it said organ removal I had no idea you meant, an organ removal. lol. Glad it wasn’t what I thought.
My mom had an organ like yours and when I moved into her home, which is now mine, I did donate it. I just didn’t have the room.
You are so energetic and I’m glad you’re in your happy place. Happy November.

Always praying for you and Louis Dean. This new chapter is challenging but you are doing it with Grace and Patience.
Hugs and I would love to be included in your drawing again this year.

  16. I know you are in your happy time, Linda, when all the Christmas decos start coming out. That hockey playing Santa looks wonderful and sure you will do it justice in a painting.

Yes, I look forward to receiving your Santa card every year and hope you will send another one this year. They are all so special and every one is saved and displayed from year to year. A couple are even framed.

  17. Linda, I love reading about your and Louis Deans life. You have such a beautiful family. I love to see all of your decorating, thrifting, the food you prepare and everything else about your life. I admire how you handle the struggles of aging and yet remain so positive. I know from my own experience that’s sometimes not easy. Much love to you and Louis Dean. Paula

  18. Oh, I do hope some young family will enjoy that organ and maybe the kids will learn to play! My parents bought a fancy electronic Wurlitzer organ back in 1977 or thereabouts, when they retired. It sat in their little den and all the grandkids LOVED to play it. My parents took lessons for a while, but eventually gave up I think. However, our youngest son Scott grew up with that organ...every time we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house, that's where he'd sit and play, with headphones on so he could make up any songs he wanted. When my parents finally both died and we were having an estate sale of their house, the only thing Scott wanted was the organ. And so now it sits in his room of our house here, even though he isn't living here right now. But when we comes home that's the first place he goes to "play". He's 47 now. He doesn't always put on the headphones anymore and we can hear him making up his music, and it's actually quite good! He has his own style, but I love it. Wish we'd recorded some of his songs over the years, because they are never the same! The organ has some age issues now, but he still makes it work. So as long as we live in this house, or until he decides to take it to his place, it will stay in his room. A dusty reminder of my parents and our son, who needs to come home and clean his room! LOL. I enjoyed your post and all your decor and activities. I can't wait to see when you do that Hockey Santa! You are such an amazing artist! I love your Christmas Santa cards, and look forward to receiving one. Do you still have my address? I think you do because I heard from you recently. Thank you very much! That coffee pot is a good one. I have an older one very similar to that, and I love to be able to set the automatic turn on thing...I set it up every night and it comes on by itself every morning, and the coffee is ready when hubby gets up. (I don't drink it). Thankfully I remembered to reset the clock on it last night for time change so it came on right on time! Have a blessed Sunday, dear Linda. I enjoyed your post so much.
