Tuesday's Treasures!

I've been working in the back gardens lately and it's beginning to look pretty.
I'm partial to the English overgrown gardens look so I worked around the back pond area yesterday and simply cleared the path around it and pulled or cut down the many tree saplings that are constantly springing up. The one behind our gazebo (in the neighbors backyard and right inside their fence) is now a towering tree that is giving us some welcome shade over our canopy. It's a Chinese Hackberry tree and, while not a tree I would have preferred, I am happy for the shade, but I pull up wandering ones from the yard nearly every day!

Our main gardens are down at the ranch but what we have here on a smaller scale is doing well. These onions had started to bolt so I quickly pulled them up and have been using them in salads.

Sunday I cooked a big ham in the electric roaster out on the deck table to keep from heating up the house. We ate it hot that first day and then in salads the next.
We eat a lot of salads year round. Soups and salads are my favorite things to make.

Pepper poppers are nice with just about anything.

My homegrown salad greens or what my stepson, Dean, calls 'Linda's Weed Salad!'

Tuesday night I made this pasta dish.....

and added grilled chicken to it!
With a mixed fresh fruit and a garden salad - it made for a healthy and tasty meal.

After getting all hot and sweaty working outside, I came in and cleaned up before meeting Brenda up at Texas Thrift on Beltline in search of Tuesday Treasures!

I should start taking pictures of her things!
I go for the thrill of the hunt as does she.....but she also has in mind a few specific things.

As in this!
Brenda bought a beautiful Chico dress to wear to her granddaughter's graduation and wanted a scarf to go with it. She found the perfect one at the thrift store and after tweaking it a bit - O0-la-la!!
I love Brenda's style and every week she has gone thrifting she's found a really nice pair of pants.....usually Chico's!

I found a whole basket full of goodies starting with this cool top!

I will be wearing this tomorrow.

Love the verse!

I'll also wear these leggings which are really comfy and will find a lightweight white wrap to wear with these.

I love this brand new purse and the scarf!
They would both have gone well with the outfit I wore to church on Sunday.

Can't go wrong here and the $12 price tag rang up as $6 since it was a yellow tag and they were half price.

Love this airy patriotic scarf.
You don't need to wear anything heavy in Texas from here on to the first freeze in the fall....or winter.

I love things like these rustic balls.
They will look good in a basket and I'll sprinkle them with some essentials oils!

I got this throw for my son, Jesse, who will be setting up his new apartment in a Native American style. That is so his vibe and I am excited to be on the lookout for things to make it look like 'Him!'

This small sign is already hanging in the main bathroom - up high and out of the way where Louis Dean won't knock it down.

Books! I always look at the books!
Francine Rivers is such a gifted writer and her writing reflects her testimony of finding Christ as her Savior.

Everyone should read this!!

Having worked the Scholastic book fairs, for $0.55 - this was a deal!
I'll be taking these over to the quads or saving for Rayne!

This was my nest to very favorite Tuesday Treasure!

My #1 choice!!!
I just love looking at this!
It will go in the storage building until August.

I've been clearing all the 'debris' out of the dining room and will seriously haul out whatever I can on Friday. This weekend Louis Dean will  pull the China cabinets out and I will wallpaper behind them! I want to get this done before the carpet people come next week.
The entire room was papered a few years ago - except behind the hutches!
Three or four lengths of paper will do it and I have it all ready to hang just as soon as I can get behind there.

It's odd for me to publish my journal entries the day after instead of at the end of the day but that seems to work better sometimes.

Louis Dean and I are now going to get ready and pack an overnight bag before heading over to the Bells. We will be doing school pick up today - and the kids don't know it!
I plan on taking them to Aldi - they love that store.
Typically they will buy a can of Pringles - each will get their own can and put their names on them so if one wants to gobble theirs up fast they can. But if another wants to make theirs last a little longer - they can keep it without someone else thinking it's theirs and eating it up!
Multiples figure out ways to keep their own stuff!!

  1. Bud and I do the same thing. He'll eat a bag of chips and then delve into my stash since I like them to last longer. LOL Of course I end up sharing with him anyway.

Love the new scarf for her red dress..

  5. your friend will look super at the graduation. my sons always had their names on all food. they both loved those boxed jello cheesecakes. I would put their name on those and cookies, cakes whatever they got. even the cans of SpaghettiOs and other thing, this was during the teen years. they fed themselves a lot and each had their own stash. you always find good stuff. always

  7. You found a lot of great things.

I love salads especially in the summer. I need to get a bit more creative with mine I think!

I’ve never wallpapered before. It’s back in style again, too. I’m just not sure what room or wall I’d want to paper! Maybe one day!

  9. Your meals always look so good and very colorful, Linda. That mac and cheese would be something I would enjoy with or without the chicken. A lot of great thrift finds, as always, for you and your friend.
