September First......My Favorite Day in all the Year!

In the first fresh hour of September first, I gathered all the things I had accumulated for this special day plus a few gifts others had given me.

The grouping of it all not only looked good but it smelled good, too.

Since it WAS already September first, I decicded to use the Pumpkin Latte bath products from Summer and go to bed smelling good!

I gave Louis Dean the bag she had gifted him.
He uses hand lotion like a lady - as in all the time.

I went ahead and plugged in a  pumpkin scented plug in so the kitchen would smell like fall when I got up this morning.

I had a package in the mail yesterday from Canada - from my friend with the same name as mine.
We are both Linda Chapman! We're also friends on Facebook and sometimes the auto face recognition things tags me instead of her and that makes me smile. SHE is the most traveled person I have ever known! I should ask her if I can do a post about the places she's been and the things she's seen. Or better yet, let HER tell you! I mean like she's been all over the world doing service through different organizations. Plus she's a gifted card maker and I shall frame this one and hang it on my wall.

Then I had a card from Arlene - and she counts 'Fall' like I do - September first!

I bought this at Walmart in Snyder early last month and went ahead and plugged it in, too!
Finally, I went to bed! It was nearly 4:00 this morning before I ever got to sleep.
Louis Dean had restless feet and I had foot pain so we took turns keeping the other awake.
Even so, I was up earlier than normal because I was just so excited!

I washed my face with this brand new bar of scented soap.....

and made pumpkin spice coffee!
The house was smelling so good!!

I loaded my CD player.......

and waited to take my first sip of coffee when I heard Neil Diamond begin to sing.....
and I teared up. All my favorite things, and the living room all golden in decorations.....I was ridiculously happy and being happy is a very good thing.

Neil continued to sing while I mixed up the fruitcake cookie dough.

They look like little jewels!

I hosted a small lunch today for my sister, Luann, and Brenda and Virginia.
Luann came a little early and helped me prepare the taco soup as we visited.
I left her in the kitchen while I hurridly dressed right before Brenad and Virginia arrived.

I remember sighing a deep sigh of contentment as we all sat down at the table.
It's nice to have a special moment in every day and lunch was that moment for this first day of September 2021.

The dining room is one of my favorites to decorate.
Normally, I don't use the battery operated fairy lights but I do here in this table centerpiece.

I took this pic after lunch and the ladies had left.
I didn't light the candles when we were eating but I did then in honor of the picture taking.

It was hot in Texas today and the heat index was 107!
Baking cookies added an extra burden to the AC so I didn't go overboard on lighting candles.

I loveseeing all my fall treasures again.

I suppose ORANGE is my favorite color!

On the opposite side of the dining room......
this is a buffet but there's always so much debris decorations, that to use this as a proper buffet never works for me.

Fall is everywhere!

And I love it all.
This two tiered wire basket is filled with the bits and pieces from other decorations like wreaths and things that have seen better days.  I save the stray leaf and sunflower and fill containers with them.

I use all my fall collections year after year but often in different rooms or arrangements.

I can never bring myself to leave any in the tubs.....
it would seem disloyal to me. I love them all even when they become a bit shabby.

You can see on the thermostat that it was 77 degrees in the dining room.
I set it on 74 but some times this is as good as it gets.

It has been a beautiful September first!
The 5 Neil Diamond CDs have been playing now for 14 hours!
I think I will give him a rest.
And I think I will probably get some much needed rest tonight, too.

29 more September morns to come......
I intend to celebrate each and every one!

  1. I truly enjoy your celebrations - especially your September 1st celebrations Linda. Your joy is contagious. I believe in celebrating everything. I like the color Orange, though it’s not my favorite. I like it because it’s one of Harley- Davidson’s colors and we ride HD motorcycles. Enjoy your September sweet lady! Blessings to you!πŸ’œ

  3. Happy September 1st! I played Neil Diamond's September Morn in YOUR honor yesterday morning as I had my first cup of coffee. And like you, dreaming of cooler temperatures!
Take care - I'll be putting my Autumn decorations out this weekend. Not a huge fan of orange, but love all the shades of green I put with it.

  11. What a wonderful first day of September you had! Our day was cozy, as we all stayed inside due to Ida pouring down rain on us all day!

  12. Happy September Morn to you!!!
This was such a delightful blog post even though I am reading it on Sept.2...Love everything about it. I guess I will have to bring out my door "wreath" soon and my ceramic orange pumpkin tureen and a few other do-dads.
I sure hope you had a terrific nights sleep.
Your table looked wonderful for your luncheon...
    You amaze me!!

  13. Happy September, Linda, and loved seeing all your fall decorations. You and I think alike, my blogger friend, because for me too, Sept 1 starts fall. Admittedly, the weather is much better than in TX now with nowhere near 107 degrees, more like low 70s and going down to the 60s overnites this week. I put out the fall decos outside our apt entry today and changed the placemats to pumpkins and autumn leaf themes. Nice to see all the decos on the table for your luncheon too.

  16. Oh, Linda, I am so glad that September 1 was a joy for you.

I have a little story for you. Wednesday was a sister day for me and we went off for the day to find a sandy beach on the coast.
As we were driving along, I told my sister of your love for the day. She told me that I had to find "September Morn" on her ITunes. Found it! So we listened as we went along. That's really a pretty sad song. But I do love Neil Diamond.

Yes, we did find that beach.

I hope you've gotten rested up now and that you all have a wonderful week. πŸ’•
