Summer is IN Puerto Rico!!!

This has been such an exciting day!!
I couldn't go to sleep until 2:00 this morning and was up at 5:00 to take Summer to the airport.
I shot straight up out of bed and put my clothes on. I had laid them out the night before. Jeans, socks, shoes, t-shirt from my neighbor, Tamara, and a light jacket plus a pink cap. No makeup. Not more than a quick brush through my hair. And I was ready!! Oh, and my earrings!! I seldom ever forget those!
Summer was right behind me - I was just ahead enough to grab a cup of coffee to go fresh out of the pot and we were off to the airport.

We live 7 minutes from DFW International but Summer was flying Southwest Airlines out of Love Field in Dallas. Such great customer service! This lady helped her lighten the one extra suitcase she was bringing so it would not cost more than the $75 and the other two were both right at - but not exceeding - the 50 pound limit!

YES!!!!

One final tag and she was ready to go inside to the terminal.

We gave each other one last hug and took one more selfie and then I headed to the car.
See the black strap over my left shoulder?
I was parked curbside and when I opened the door to get in, I realized I did not have my purse on my arm but I DID have Summer's bag chock full of her medications!!!
Thankfully, she was still talking to the SWA lady so I ran right back and gave it to her!
Crisis averted!!!

She was the second person to board and picked a bulkhead seat.

In the AIR!!!
She made the connection in Ft. Lauderdale with no problem and landed in San Juan, Puerto Rico right on time.

Three BIG suitcases!!

She had arranged for a driver to take her to Palmas.......someday I will be going down this highway!

A pouring rain started coming down just as they were close to Palmas.

But that did not damper her homecoming!!!

You can see Summer's hair is wet but they were all smiles under those masks!!

Summer received her Covid test results while she was waiting for her flight this morning.
Negative! She had to take a test 72 hours prior to entering Puerto Rico.
You can see they are still taking precautions.

I talked to Summer on FaceTime this evening and they are all three as happy as they can be!!
They are two hours ahead of me here in Texas so Summer and I will continue to touch base but she is so happy to see Rayne and  Sabrina again. They have been apart since January.
Summer has done a great job visiting with Rayne on FaceTime and phone calls and Marco Polo.
They have watched movies together, read books, played games and spent quality time with each other all these many long months.
But there's nothing like BEING there!!

So what did I do all day?
I thought I would come home and go right back to bed but when I came in, Louis Dean was already up and dressed and ready to go back to work on the electric to finish up the sump pump project.
We had coffee together and read the Bible and another chapter in Cheaper by the Dozen.
It ws light by this time so I decided to go for a walk.

This time I chose a route that goes by the local elementary school.
I could see a tiny bit of fall foliage in the neighborhood.

Mostly we go from green to brown......

with touches of yellow.

The yaupon holly is really pretty right now.

At one point the wind blew in and sent a shower of leaves raining down on me.

Our lawns are still green......

and here I am back to the corner of my street.
Our house is the one with the Texas star on the front.
Stephanie lives to the left in this photo and investers bought Olga's house on the right.
They are doing an amazing job in fixing it up!

I have been filling up tub after tub of fall debris all afternoon.
I did take a delicious nap shortly after lunch. But I didn't want to sleep too long so I can sleep normal tonight. My home no longer has a golden glow to it. I intended to go room by room and pack it all away but that wasn't how it played out. The den and laundry room remain decorated but the rest of the house looks naked and bare.  But it won't stay that way for long.

I think I will memorize this!

  2. Glad Summer arrived safely and glad you got those meds to her!!! Loved walking with you in your neighborhood. We walk each afternoon around four. Once it gets colder we will have to move our time up a bit. I tend to get tired of our route as it is always the same. One of the things I miss about living in a neighborhood. Wow, seven minutes from DFW. I was watching a young flight attendant on You Tube who flew out of DFW but she was furloughed due to covid crisis. I have been in the DFW airport one time, flying to New Mexico. Off to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel!

  4. Happy Days Are Here Again in Puerto Rico! I can't believe how much Rayne has grown up. So glad she got to go and got there with no problems. Yay for getting those medications back that would could have been really bad! For some reason I thought that your house was like on land all around it now I see you live in a neighborhood just like mine all house in a row.

  7. How exciting! I’m glad every thing worked out great and had a safe trip.
We enjoyed a walk this morning. It was drizzling but that did not stop us considering how warm it was.
There were many leaves on the sidewalk and I liked hearing them crunch beneath my feet.

Summer looks so happy. I know she will enjoy her 2 months there.
I love that ending quote..that's my philosophy too.
We are having our "Small Group" ie Bible study group here tonight for our Thanksgiving Feast. It should be a lot of fun, food, and fellowship. There will be 10 of us. Potluck so it's not hard for any of us.
Enjoy your home time before you are off to the Ranch.
