Rest and Recovery Wednesday

I have laid low today!
What with my left knee, bruised ribs on my left side and the sore left arm from the shingles vaccine yesterday - I have been pretty much out of commission this entire day.

When I woke up this morning I felt like I had been run over by  a steam roller.
When I finally got out of bed, I changed the sheets and then crawled back into it.
Normally, my days speed by but this one has drug along slowly.

Louis Dean worked out on the third side of the gazebo but this time all alone without my help holding something or fetching a tool for him.

I pulled myself together and made hot ham and cheese breakfast sandwiches for us around noon,
He heated up the goulash he made yesterday for an early supper.

This evening the sky darkened and a storm blew in.
I was shocked to look at the clock and see it was only 6:00.
I love a good storm but had to sit this one out inside - other than running out in the rain and sticking the extended gutters on the downspouts.

I did mange to putter around and put all the patriotic decorations in tubs and bags but didn't feel like taking them out to the storage building.

This is the Ralph Lauren sheets, shams and bed skirt I'm using on the guest room bed.
After I finished fluffing it all up, I lit a good Yankee candle and took my book and a glass of tea and propped myself up in the bed against all the pillows and rested.

Right now I have the laptop literally on my lap as I sit in the den watching the season finale of Endeavor. After that I'll be going to bed.

I'm sure I will be back to rights tomorrow and that's a good thing - Lillian and I have plans.
I can't believe I only took two pictures today.
As Louis Dean would say, "A slow blog fodder day!"

  1. Besides the shingles shots - did I miss you fell or something? Sorry. I love that last quote. It is so true. Please feel better. When my husband had that shot - on his side he got a grapefruit size lump I guess you'd say. After going from doctor to doctor - they said the shingles shot numbed his muscles that held in that area and that it would eventually go back - it did - bit it was weird.

  5. Oh honey, I hope tomorrow is better. What a trifecta of ills!
I love Endeavor! I actually love BBC tv -- pretty much all of it, but especially their mystery and detective shows!
Can't wait to hear you're better the next time you post. I love your new-to-you sheets!

  6. Hello my sweet green-eyed girlfriend! Hope you are feeling better!! Rest as much as you can. I hated to hear that you had fallen, it was at the baby shower, right? goodness girlfriend y'all must've been playing SOME WILD GAMES at that shower!! ha ha LOL Just kidding. Loved the pictures of the kids on the merry-go-round. I love those and hop on one every chance I get! the goulash sounds good, I can almost smell it, LOL! Is it served over noodles or rice, or do you just eat it in a bowl like a stew with crackers and biscuits maybe?

  7. Rest does a body good... and I'm glad you're getting some, my friend. It's not like you to be out-of-commission but when life gives us lemons, lemonade is the surest thing to make. I'm still keeping you in prayer and hope today is a better day for you. Love, Andrea xoxo

  10. Linda, You have to take care of yourself at times. I would love a quiet day in bed with it raining ...but then I would worry, about getting too much rain. We had a heavy rain yesterday and it rain sideways too. LOL You and LD just keep plugging along getting things done. Blessings to you both, love you guys, xoxo, Susie

  12. I always say you cannot be good for others if you are not first good to yourself. Glad you got the opportunity to rest and relax. We all need days like that especially when we've been very busy. I do hope you are feeling better after a good day of rest. But it may take more than a day with the bruised ribs. Take good care and take it slowly.

  13. Hope you are feeling better Linda....wasnt the Endeavor finale exceptional? When all three of the old team arrived to help Morse I felt like standing up and cheering. I am glad they ended it on a high note for all those men. I do feel sorry for Chief Constable Bright, losing his wife. Maybe they will find a new love interest for him. I did not like him at all when he first appeared on Endeavor but I have grown to really admire him. ( And yes, I act like all these people are real.lol...If Thursday and his wife had divorced, I would have been very upset.)
