Meet my friend, Virginia!
She and I went to church together a number of years ago now.
We also attended the Eat, Love, Pray group and she is a mutual friend with our dearly loved longtime family friend, June.
Well, we have been trying to hook up for a Tuesday Treasure Hunt and today it finally happened!
Now the following are not MY treasures but Virginia's!
That beautiful king size sheet back there feels like a dream.
Four star ice cube trays.....some good books and she and I trade off books sometimes!
So I may get to read some of these!
I love this! $0.79!
I'm not really modeling this!
But it is a fun shirt!
I have one just about like it but it's a red bikini.
I got it in Canton with Reaoma back in the day.
I wore it a time or two around the house shortly after Louis Dean and I got married but it distracted and disconcerted him no end!
Virginia's has a belly button ring!
And you should SEE the back!!!
You can see how it could be a distraction!
Four sweet cups to serve to her great grands!
3 were taped up together and then I found a fourth one an isle over.
$0.79 each!
This top is a two piece and super cute!!!
Now, here's MY Tuesday Treasures......
I hit the jack pot on Capri's!
And leggings......
Virginia said she thought I look like I've lost weight.
Since I don't weigh myself, I don't know but these are all size 10 and they fit so maybe so!
We will be going to the Red Dog Saloon in Juneau, Alaska with Brenda and Billy.
Now I already have my souvenir cup!
At a fraction of the price!
Mine was $0.79!
So was this sweet fall cup that I simply could not bear to leave in that impersonal thrift store when I could give it such a warm comforting home with me!
I have slowly collected a place setting for 8+ of this Tracy Porter Octavian Hill design.
All at different places......
The set of four is brand new and still in the box. Add the other 6 and I have 10!
I found these at the Goodwill. $5.00 for all of them! Half price.
Earlier I found the matching platter at Irving Thrift! $4!
This top feels and looks expensive.
Trust me - it wasn't!
Virginia and I had the best time!!!
We had lunch at the Olive Garden and must have talked for hours because she had to rush home and it was nearly 5:00!!!! I love friends who you can simply lose track of time with!
This evening I have been sewing like a mad woman!
I'm making a huge denim quilt for a wedding gift and the shower is Saturday the 18th!
I must hurry!
238 denim squares!
We closed out this Tuesday with art and music.
My Traditional Tuesday used to be: Movie, Goodwill and Art.
Two out of three is not bad!
August 21st I am hoping to hit all of them!
Louis Dean is nearly 82 years old and yet he continues to practice and improve in both his voice and his guitar playing. He played the whole time I painted. What was it? Two hours or more?
This is a work in progress but the most involved of all my Christmas Santa paintings this year.
It's a hard one!
That's why I'm only painting one....
but this will be our Christmas Card for 2018.
I'm hoping to finish it before we leave for our cruise and long drive home.
The others will be so much easier.
Broad strokes on larger canvases.
I won't be getting this journal entry done before the stroke of midnight but Louis Dean and I will be taking our wine out to the driveway to sip and visit before we go to bed.
I am so grateful for this time in my life.
It's like God saved the best for last for me.
We get to stay up late and sleep in and do what we want - for the most part.
I believe this.......with all my heart!
I love your Santa with the horse! I think this Santa lives in the country instead of the North Pole! What great Goodwill finds! I do love your hand painted fall mug! And all your capris and leggings!
ReplyDeleteThe bluejean quilt is coming along nicely and whoever gets it will be getting a lovely TREASURE!! I love your cute bluejean capris too!! Y'all got some great finds, yours and hers. Glad y'all had this fun time together. I spend hours in thrift stores, it's great entertainment and so relaxing to me, plus I find such great deals and bargains. Your Christmas Santa looks great too! And Mr. Louis Dean DOES NOT look his age, does he??!!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is a favorite! Your husband and you look younger-love the pics!!
ReplyDeleteRetirement great!!
So many fantastic little treasures, but I have to say I am partial to that hand painted cup.
ReplyDeleteLinda, What a fun day with your friend Virginia. You both found some good stuff (treasures). :) Oh that is a huge quilt ! I know you enjoy when your sweet LD sings to you. He is amazing and so are you. Both so talented and hard working, with loving hearts. Blessings for both of you, love, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day! That nighty? 😳 Hahahahahahaha...
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day and I love that tee shirt but I could see it would be very distracting.lol. I like what you said about God saving the best for the last for you, Linda. So sweet and true.
ReplyDeleteI love your treasures and wish you could show me how to wear leggings! lol I need more loose tops I think! Love your photos and the quote at the end. I'm anxious for you to see my post today too! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteTreasured time with a friend and found treasures as well!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time getting your treasures and I think that Santa is the best one yet.
ReplyDeleteYou do have a great life ! I love your Tuesday's finds and how great you could enjoy the day with a friend too. That quilt making looks like it will take up a good deal of time. Longer to make than the one for the baby anyway. But I know it's all a labor of love. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteYou and Virginia found the greatest treasures! You must have better thrift stores there -- I think maybe I need to plan a Texas thrifting trip! That denim quilt is beautiful! My husband's aunt made a quilt for us for our wedding and I keep it on our bed to this day (almost 25 years!) That is a very special gift you'll be giving them! Louis Dean is so wonderful to serenade you while you paint! And you are SO talented! Some day you have to tell us how you learned to paint so well! Have a wonderful Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful day with your good friend and a relaxing evening after...sound lovely. That's great to get your 79cent souvenir ahead of time. :) Happy Wednesday to you...
ReplyDeletewow, the both of you scored really big on your thrifty day spent shopping. I would not wear those shirts, he would be following me around panting.. love the two piece top. you only have 1 week to finish the quilt and it is beautiful so better get sewing....
ReplyDeleteYou find the most amazing things. Such a good shopper. I love that your LD is so active and also continues to serenade. What joy that must bring to him and all of you. Love the little ring in the shirt! Haha!
ReplyDeleteLOL I would love to find a shirt like the sexy lady, however only my cat and I would laugh at me in it LOL
ReplyDeleteSo fun anyway
Oh my Gosh! What a fun time, made much more fun by having a friend along.
ReplyDeleteYou little treasure hunter you!! You certainly found some keepers and that shirt just cracks me up. Who woulda thought you could find the exact same souvenir in a thrift store that you will see on your actual trip - you are indeed a shopper and a thrifty one at that. I love that your hubby sang while you painted, what a treat! Well this sure was fun to read and see all that you have been doing, your friend is a lucky lady to have a wonderful friend in you!!
ReplyDeleteLove that last quote...Cheers
ReplyDeleteI just love all the treasures that you find. You are the ultimate treasure seeker. So fun. I can't wait to hear all about your upcoming trip. Alaska is on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteLove the t-shirt. Some great little treasure. Alaska sounds great Linda.
