Thank you all for the many prayers prayed for Summer and Sabrina and family in Puerto Rico.
"Linda just to let you know Donna heard from Candy and they are all ok lots of damage but they are ok"
From what I can see on the limited amount of news I am getting on my iPad Weather app.....
the entire island is without power and there's no telling the amount of damage in the infrastructure of Puerto Rico.
While I have not yet heard Summer's voice - at least I can be more at peace knowing they survived.

This is what was in our 'front yard' this morning!
While we don't really want the horses coming right up to the porch, it is pretty cool to get to see them as a matter of course around here.
The first thing I did this morning after our reading and prayer time.....
was to make Louis Dean a banana pudding.
I used Trisha Yearwood's recipe and the vanilla wafers are the HEB Hill Country Fare brand.
They look more like ginger snaps and are really good.
Today I looked through all the books I bought at the Goodwill on Tuesday.
The Cotton Queen is by an author in McKinney, Texas and that's where the story she tells takes place.
I did not realize that If I am Missing or Dean was a true story written by the sister of the one who died.
The best book buy was Coming Home by Rosamunde Pilcher - who is my all time favorite author.
She is elderly and no longer writes. I am selfish and wish she would write just one more. Her last book was Winter Solstice.
I did not realize there was a TV series in 1998 based on Coming Home.
I just discovered I can see this on YouTube!!!
The One Year Devotional and Prayer Book will be saved for 2018.
Since I was trying to keep my mind busy, I decided to cook a roast.
I used the electric skillet and brought in inside the camper since today was a muggy 98 degrees.
I had to take it back outside when it tripped the breaker to the entire camper!
The new room is wired separately and Louis Dean says I could run a dryer and anything else I wanted to out there. He hates it when a breaker flips.
He got started on the bathroom today and made a lot of progress.
Dean came down and helped him sort it out and steered him in the right direction.
Louis Dean can do absolutely anything but plumbing is his least favorite.
I painted this afternoon.....LATE afternoon.
After I heard that Summer was okay, I jumped into gear and felt more creative.
I've decided to paint some cotton boll pictures.
I toyed with using some real bolls on top of painted ones and I may explore that idea a little more tomorrow.
The Sledding Santa got some more work done on him.
It's been good to have several projects going at once so when I get weary of one - I can just pick up a different one!
We have got in the habit of watching a movie a day.
Today's was pretty intense but it was excellent.
The fighting looks so very much like Dean's Karate.
There's a scene where Tom Cruise is practicing martial art against a beautiful sunset.
It looked just like Dean up by the big tank when he does his work outs.
That's all I have for today.
Louis Dean went to bed about 20 minutes ago and I will be there in another 15!
He said, "Honey, I got tired today just standing around."
I told him he had EARNED his tired!!!
I will continue in prayer for Puerto Rico......and am anxiously awaiting more news.
Thank you for the update on Summer and family - I thought about them all day. Hugs.

I am so glad! The waiting and suspense is so hard! Thanking God for the wonderful friends who let you know so soon. Your roast meal looks so good!!! I shall call it Breaker Roast. I have seen The Time Traveler's Wife several times and love it! I still have it on my DVR box and will not delete it! So if the movie is this good, the book should be even better.
ReplyDeleteSo thankful to hear that Summer and family are ok. Prayers for the entire country as they painstakingly put their lives back together. I have a friend that went there with a FEMA team before the storm hit and he finally posted that he was safe, but that they were without power except a generator and that his hotel suffered damage.
ReplyDeleteI have read the Time Traveler's Wife and you should like it.
So glad to hear the good news about Summer and her family... Prayers will continue for them. And, to find out that Coming Home is on YouTube - that will be what I watch this weekend. I think I have all of her and her son's books. The Shell Seekers is probably my favorite book and have seen the tv movie with Angela Lansbury several times. I'll look for it on YouTube too! Try to stay cool...
ReplyDeleteLinda, I am glad for the news of Summer , Rayne, and Sabrina. I have been thinking of them and praying. We have to keep praying for everyone to be safe and be smart.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you take good care of LD. He is a wonderful man and you are a beautiful lady...I am glad you have each other.
I was thinking as you were painting the cotton pictures. About if you still gather things for the quads, to study.
Blessings to you,love, xoxo, Susie
we saw Last Samuri when it was new and loved it.. I am so happy to see they survived Maria... will continue to pray for them because 100 percent no power on all of the country is not good. I can't even imagine how bad that is and will be. you really did GREAT on all those books
ReplyDeleteVery happy to hear Summer and her precious little girl are safe...no power..but of course. Horrible for them all. They predicted a large hurriane season and they have proved themselves right. Now, just when is our fall weather going to arrive??? You found some treasures of books!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear they are ok!! My sis in law's house on Big Pine Key made it through the hurricane but they have no electricity, plumbing or water so they are going to be renting a place until things are back to normal. It will be a long process as it will be for Peurto Rico as well. I made a banana pudding recently and used Nutter Butter cookies. ( We had visited a restaurant who served it that way so I gave it a try. It was very good. Oh Rosamund Pilcher...one of my all time favorite authors. I still re read her novels!
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief it must have been to know your loved ones are ok. I will definitely keep them in my prayers. So much havoc done by the hurricane and being without power makes it hard to communicate. I love the books you found and Rosamunde Pilcher is a favorite of mine too. I've read all her books. I use my electric skillet a lot and have taken it out to the porch to keep the kitchen cool. It's going to be wonderful when your addition is complete. Hope you have a another good day there.
ReplyDeleteWonderful news! So glad that you can have reassurance and peace about that. Otherwise, the news out of Puerto Rico is grim. Joining you in prayer. Is it wrong to pray them home to Texas? I have read that the island will probably be empty in four to six months except for the most tenacious.
ReplyDeleteRosamunde Pilcher does write a cozy read...a gentle, cozy read. This is the time for one like that!
Happy ranch time to you...
So glad you've gotten word about your daughter, I saw some of the pictures in the news and was really worried for her and you
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear they are all safe! I've been praying for them and for you.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy Rosamunde Pilcher, but haven't ever gotten around to reading her last book. Guess I need to fix that! The Shell Seekers and September were so good.
I've been waiting on this update from your daughter. We have a friend at church from Puerto Rico and she hasn't heard a word from your family yet. Please keep them in your prayers.
ReplyDeleteSo glad about Summer. Did you know the Last Samurai was filmed in Taranaki in New Zealand? Cheers
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Summer and Sabrina are okay. We need relief from these storms.
