Summer and I celebrated Friday in party mode!
Chili's is always like we are going to a party!!!
Skinny margaritas! On a Friday afternoon!
This pic was for a fun photo only!
Summer had hers on the rocks and I always order a frozen!!
Absolutely NO self control when it comes to Chili's chips and hot sauce....and ranch....
We had a great lunch and then visited our dear Reaoma.
I took her Ghirardelli Chocolate MINT!
We left her with a laugh and a smile as I recounted the time I was there last year and a little old lady asked me to open the door for her. I innocently pushed it open for her and all of a sudden the alarms sounded like there was a fire truck right there in the hall! Ooops!!!
When I went back to Reaoma's room, she said, "I KNEW that was you!!!"
Making memories is so very important.
You never know how precious they may be in time to come.
Summer helped me make our reservations for the going and coming from the beach house vacation.
She left Friday evening to go back to Rowlett but only after she had put together a notebook with all the info and maps and confirmations we would need and we went over to Roy and Ruth Ann's for a Family Dinner. Dean and Sherry were in town so she fixed a feast for all of us. In case you are wondering who is on Critter Care while they go to a Karate event in Oklahoma, it is Grandson Robert!
Ruth Ann is a great cook and she made a roast with brown gravy that was out of this world!!!
I was really off my game because I didn't even THINK about taking pictures until she brought out this ice cream!! I'd never had it before but it's Dean and Sherry's all time favorite!
After such a good meal, I came home and went straight to bed - before 10:00 Friday night!
I really needed that sleep and didn't wake up until 9:30 the next morning!
We closed up the house and the gazebo and packed up the rental car and pulled out of the driveway at 1:30 Saturday afternoon.
We are packed and fully loaded!!
Don't judge! We could have piled it all in a smaller space but WHY?
We never claim to travel light in this world.
We headed East on I20 and through the piney woods of Texas.....
across Louisiana.....
and into Mississippi.
We made it to the travel center by twilight.
We may be so blurry you can't recognize us!!!
We were TIRED by this point!!!
It was an easy drive from the border and in on our hotel - except we got lost!
We were on our way to Memphis on I55 when we realized we were going the wrong direction!
What should have taken minutes took an HOUR!
But it's a tradition and we expected it!!
Too bad neither one of us has any sense of direction - at all!!!
All this for ONE night!!!
We actually needed just a little bit from each bag!
I blog and he sings and plays!
It's what we do!
We were too tired to go out for dinner so this was our evening meal!
We are HERE and we are FINE!
Tomorrow - the BEACH!!!
Oh, you go, Linda and Louis! Now that I can't go on "real vacations" without slowing anyone with me down, I want to think of you and your lovely family going here and there!
ReplyDeleteHope you'll have time to blog...or maybe I'll see you on FB.
xoxo, Trudy
Thanks for taking me with you on your vacation. Just think that February 2016 I was in Memphis. I so wanted to come visit you then, but couldn't with the funeral I was attending. Someday...
ReplyDeleteI hope you two have a blast at the beach tomorrow.
HAPPY HAPPY VACATION Y'ALL!! enjoy every minute and have a great time!! Safe journeys!
ReplyDeleteyay for beaches and vacations.. I am still giggling over the door alarm. I once was asked to open the front door for a lady at the home my dad was in, the lady at the desk said NO! don't open it. the reason the door is heavy is to keep them from going out alone... the next day there was a sign by the door that said please do not open door for residents. yes, I was a tad embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteWe visited Jackson MS one time. Our youngest son was looking at Bellhaven college. But then a college in Montgomery AL offered him a full scholarship so he went there. ( and we were so glad.) We always see a lot of Texas people when we go to Gulf Shores. Looking forward to seeing all the pictures of the vacay.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it all!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you enjoy your vacation. I have never been to Mississippi but it is on my list of places to see.
ReplyDeleteTwo peas in a pod you two:)
ReplyDeleteLinda, So glad you are on your beach vacation....can't wait to see if LD's swimsuit has bibs. LOL I love that he started singing to you as soon as you were in your room. Please be safe while away. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteLet the fun begin!! Do you have a GPS? We can't go much of anywhere without one. My favorite pictures are the ones you too of the beautiful bridge!

DeleteYou are having way too much fun. I love it! Enjoy by all means.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Linda, we use Google Maps on my iPhone to get to wherever. After being lost for years, it is perfect for us!
ReplyDeleteI always love going along on these little trips with you. I feel like I am right there. Would you believe I have never had a margarita? I must be missing something! Summer looks good and happy there. xo Diana
