I have planned and paced my activities in preparation for my Good Friday Luncheon.
Wednesday was my cleaning day....
and I took out some time to check on our garden and was THRILLED to see little green tomatoes and a tiny banana pepper. The onions are looking good, too!
I planned the menu and sent out messages to the family so I could get a head count.
I made some adjustments to what I had planned and will not make the Easter Bread until Saturday.
The Angel Graham Bars will be on Monday or Tuesday so I will have some to take to my doctor when I get my physical.
I added cookies, though!
Chip-less for Louis Dean and peanut butter/chocolate chips for the rest!
We actually went to bed before midnight last night so this morning I was awake by 8:00, out of the bedroom by 9:00 and busy buzzing around by 10:00!
I cleaned out the fridge before going to the grocery store so that meant we ate whatever leftovers we could find!
Louis Dean's lunch was a work of art!
He fixed it himself and ate every single bite!
I dressed - make up and hair, too - and left the house for the first time since I came home from church on Palm Sunday!
I'm always of two minds which grocery store to go to shop.
I don't really LIKE grocery shopping and Walmart is my least favorite.
I like Aldi but you can't get everything on your list there so I would still have to go somewhere else.
For some reason, Louis Dean all of a sudden doesn't like Kroger! I have no idea why! He suggested I go to Tom Thumb and since that's the nicest one as well as the nearest one - that's where I went!
I got everything on my list!!!
When I drove up, I honked the horn and Louis Dean came out and unloaded it all for me and I put it all up and started cooking and baking.
I decided to make a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Done!
Candied Carrots. Done!
I set the kitchen table up for appetizers.
I prepared the simple syrup and fruit for white sangria.
I still need to slice up the cheese tray but I may do that in the morning along with the strawberry garden salad I'll make. Which reminds me, I need to make the dressing for that tonight!
I finished up and went outside to look for Louis Dean.
He's been working all day in his storage building organizing all his debris tools!
Good grief!!!! I never even dreamt he would actually DO this!!!
Day is done and time to put our feet up and relax!
I had one dark corner so I strung up some lights before I sat down.
We are enjoying being outside with this nice weather!
Things are as ready as they will ever be!!!
Let me leave you with a few pictures from my stepson, Shihan Dean Chapman!
This photo was earlier this week!
The meadow is one of my favorite places!
All lush and green!
I am so looking forward to going down there next week!
But what a difference 24 hours made!!
The same place Dean was working out - covered in water!
Oh, dear!
It's an adventure down there!
I'm hoping it dries out and doesn't rain so we can get in!
And just look at Sherry's new little chicks!!!
I can't WAIT to get back to the country!!!
But first - Good Friday and Easter Sunday!
You really got a lot done! I have the same problem, not being able to get everything all at one grocery store. Your cookies look so delicious! I sure hope that flood dries up before you go there!! Happy Easter!!
ReplyDeleteAs usual, I'm impressed. Heaven forbid there should be a corner without lights. Folks here the lady come with tiny lights to brighten that corner. I'm most impressed with LD's gardening skills. I believe that man must have been a farmer in a former life. I saw your meal the other day of fried potatoes and onions along with bacon, eggs, and biscuits. Couldn't get it out of my mind. Had to turn in and make the same meal. Everything looks good for your gathering tomorrow. Make lots of pictures.
ReplyDeleteLinda, Wishing all of you a wonderful Good Friday gathering. I am impressed by your new garden . So nice for LD to have his storage space organized. Your home and yard always look so welcoming. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

ReplyDeleteYou are always an inspiration Linda. How nice to have your luncheon on Good Friday. I take my little one to church every year and then to see the Easter Bunny on that day. I usually have everyone over for Easter but not this year. We are leaving for Disney World on Tuesday. Love the traditions!!!
