I have been laying low the last few days while I've been nursing this head cold.
I've spent a few hours binge watching Designated Survivor.
You would think I'd had enough of presidential politics but this show totally keeps my attention.
Thursday, Louis Dean headed East to have Thanksgiving lunch with the quads!
This is Logan and she was proud as punch that her Granddad was there!
He spent the rest of the day with Amber and the quads as all four had their echo cardiograms - which took HOURS - but they did so well and had such perfect results! Now we know they ALL have healthy hearts - Kailey included!
While Louis Dean went to Dallas.......
I drove west to Arlington to have lunch with Levi, our 4th grader.
He is Jesse's youngest son and he is such a charmer!
He was already through the line and eating when I got there.
Those long lunch lines are a mess!
He made sure he bought a lunch for me but he did NOT have to go back through that line again.
He knows just exactly how to work the system. With 10 minutes left in the lunch period, he raised his hand and asked the teacher on duty if he could have seconds. When asked if he had eaten all that, he motioned between the two of us and explained he was supposed to buy my lunch. The kind teacher went with him and took him to the front of the line! Since there was only 10 minutes left, and since Levi was still hungry, he helped me scarf that meal right down! He asked me if I wanted him to help finish it - and then smiled and said, "I'm a really FAST eater!!!"
As soon as he expertly twirled that last piece of turkey into his mouth, the time was up and he was out the door before I even realized he was gone!
Then I waited around for Faith's lunch period for the 6th grade.
She ditches the lunch line all together by bringing her lunch.
She went right outside to the picnic tables and I followed her.
I don't think it's cool to be seen with your grandmother in elementary school.
Wished I had picked up on that earlier before I waved at her and tried to hug her!
On my way home, I stopped for a stack of storage tubs at Home Depot and then for sparkling wine and other things for the big birthday party for Louis Dean on Saturday.
By this time, I was worn out and went back to bed.
Every morning I wake up and think maybe I'll be well today.
I was a bit worse than yesterday actually.
Apparently it got worse before it got better, and after dragging around all day, at 4:30 I could feel a change - for the better!
This was cutting it close because I have things to do before the party tomorrow.
I think that cup of hot tea and the pumpkin snaps may have helped me turn the corner.
Amber has done the brunt of the party plans and preparations.
She's a real trooper and doesn't slow down for much!
She had asked me to bring photos when I was over there Wednesday. I had not thought of it not ONCE since she asked me! This afternoon I put together a grouping of photos from when he was younger. He's always been handsome!
Last night I decided to wash down the front porch as I knew it was the last warm evening we would have for awhile. I mixed up a bucket of Pine Sol and was splashing it up in the 'debris' when the water came right back down on my head and in my eyes! Ha! I felt like I Love Lucy!
This evening we put everything back and I spread a red cover on the bench. The stage is set for Christmas decorating.
All of the fall debris - every last bit of it - is down and packed and stored in my clean 'new' old storage building - with room to spare!!
I finally fixed Louis Dean's steak dinner this evening and it was delicious!
I was wanting something to help my throat tonight and settled on the Blazin' Hot Cinnamon mixed with Diet Coke. It reminded us of those cinnamon flavored toothpicks - a really GOOD kind of HOT!!
Now it's time to get in there to the art table and finish this Santa!!
Louis Dean will draw the winning name Sunday afternoon right after the Dallas Cowboys game!
So happy all the little hearts are healthy. I know Amber is too. Also, I need a Santa! :)
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you are still sick, and hope for sure you have turned the corner. You and I must have the same thing.I have had a bug for almost a week now. Even was too sick to watch the girls tonight. Here, tomorrow is to be the very last pretty day of the year. Then Sunday, winter hits! So was this the day for all the grandparents to have lunch with the kids at school? They do that here to celebrate Grandparents Day. Levi is so handsome, and I bet really charming too. Love looking at a younger Louis Dean, he really has been super handsome all his life!
ReplyDeleteHate colds...glad you are feeling better and was nice you had lunch with the young ones.
ReplyDeletelove the pic of Faith with that beautiful smile. sorry you are still under the weather with the cold. they are so miserable. enjoy your party
ReplyDeleteY'all have fun today celebrating LD's birthday!! You are right, he had always been good looking!
ReplyDeleteHope y'all have a wonderful birthday celebration! Marvelous being 80 and looking so dapper! Great news on healthy test results for the babies! Feel better and enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI hope you recover soon from your head cold. The young ones are all looking great!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're feeling better! Just please don't over-do with this party. I had viral bronchitis, sinus infection and conjunctivitis along with the continuing back issues! IMHO, it's such a waste of time to not feel 100% plus the pain. I am so grateful for each day that I feel better!
ReplyDeleteLevi is such a handsome young man! His eyes are beautiful plus the smile. Faith is adorable too! I know they loved having you there for lunch.
Isn't it nice to have cooler temps for a change? I love it!
xo

Linda, That was some really good news about the little ones' hearts. God is good. Hope you are feeling better too. Happy birthday to that sweet man of yours. You are both blessed to have each other and all those that love you both. All your grandkids are cutie pies. Hope you get some nice photos at the parties. Blessings to all of you, love you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteNice dividing and conquering! Yay for good medical reports for the quads! And I was interested to read about the hot lunch. I don't think they give growing kids enough food. Both my grands take their own lunches because they would be hungry otherwise.
ReplyDeleteOh and a wise friend gave me a great tip about hugging kids who don't want hugs... "We hug them because they NEED them, not because they want them."
I am so excited about Louis Dean's birthday party...today? I hope that it is in full swing and that everyone is having a happy, happy day!
My prescription for dealing with a cold includes making a hot drink with lemon juice, honey and brandy (you could use bourbon or whisky) - the honey soothes the throat, the lemon gives you Vit C and the spirits just make you not notice the cold anymore! Cheers from Carole from Carole's Chatter
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure you and your family are!! I always enjoy stopping in for a visit. I always leave uplifted.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!!
Hope your feeling better!!!
