We spent Sunday night in Quadville -arriving AFTER the Dallas Cowboys won their game in overtime - and were prepared to be awakened by four little four year olds this morning!
Facebook
We managed to have a cup of coffee and then serve up a country breakfast of biscuits, gravy, bacon and fried eggs all washed down with orange juice before we loaded up and headed back to 'MeeMaw's House!'
Our craft for the day was making Ghost Pops.
Thanks to May Days http://ritamay-days.blogspot.com/2016/10/ghost-pops.html
for the idea!!!
We love to eat lunch outside.
Our last time to use the BOO place mats this year!
Granddad continued the tradition of reading Bill Martin's Ghost Eye Tree to the quads!
He has read this to them since the first year they were born.
He also read it to to our older grandchildren - Sam, Faith and Levi as well as to Rayne.
He certainly held their attention!
By the end of the book, they were all crowded around him!
This book is special to Louis Dean as he knew the author and did several workshops with him.
Bill Martin gave LD this autographed copy of his book.
Naps followed. Not only for the quads but for Granddad and MeeMaw as well.
For whatever reason, we were both really tired today.
When we all woke up, it was time to dress up for Halloween!
Can you identify the characters?
A last photo shoot before their Dada takes them off to their own neighborhood to Trick or Treat!
Amber worked so hard on their costumes and had them in bags with every single element in each one down to a handmade necklace for Logan. She was away for a wedding and didn't get to see them in all their glory but she was the one that made the quads shine!
Trick or TREAT!!!
Louis Dean held court after the quads left in anticipation of the trick or treaters to come!
We love how the dog next door dresses up every year!!
That dog belongs to these two dear girls!!!
They and their parents are such blessings to us!
Neighbors mean so MUCH!!!
I admit that we were tired and had the fleeting thought of going to bed but we are SO glad that we didn't!!! Our sweet neighbors of years past came to call - as they do each and every year - and we would not have missed this for the world!!!
Relationships matter. They do!
We love this family and have watched little Nicole grow up as well as her big sister, Britney, standing next to her.
She will soon be seven and we are so honored to be a part of her life!
We had other sweet neighbors come by and it was a night of fun!
This little one loved the lights on the porch!
And that's the way I feel tonight as I turn off the porch light and ask Louis Dean to join me in the gazebo for a glass of wine before we go to bed.
I love my family and I love my friends.
It's been a good Halloween!!!
It was a wonderful Halloween for us both! The Quads are just adorable! I bet they got zillions of treats! I will have to check out this story Louis Dean read; I have never heard of it. It may be just the thing for ours!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely Halloween! So many new precious moments to make memories of. πΈππ
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of Louis Dean reading to the quads. The expressions on their faces are priceless.
ReplyDeleteMeeMaw, you and Granddad are the BEST. Wish I could join the quads for a day and become a child again ... just to make a wonderful memory.
ReplyDeletelooks like a truly happy Halloween, never saw so many cute costumes in one place.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I think that your grandkids have been blessed with LD and you as the grandparents. You are teaching them every time you are with them. They will love family and reading...for sure. I like that you made a craft with them...so fun always. It must have been fun seeing all the neighbors. Blessings to all there. love you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI did check out Louis Dean's book on amazon. It looks GOOD and I think I will buy it!
ReplyDeleteI see it was an over the top Halloween at the Chapman home. The quads get more interesting all the time. Fun to see them developing individually. I'm sure you've always seen the difference in their personalities and now the rest of us are getting to see too. Put away that nasty Halloween stuff and bring out the Thanksgiving debri. See if you can top last year.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I know the quads had fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm only ready to do things after that morning cup of coffee! Your little 'trick or treaters' are most precious!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of cuties - we had a hard time staying up for our trick or treaters as well, ended up shutting everything down at 830 pm with not much candy left, thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteLove the quads outfits... I don't know the characters...but what a mom they have...she learnt well from you....
ReplyDeleteLove the quads-all dressed up as little tricksters! lol Louis Dean looks like he was relaxed and enjoying himself after the hoopla.
ReplyDeleteI know that you love your family and friends-it shines through every word you write. xo Diana
It does sound like a great Halloween!
ReplyDeleteHowdy there Linda, so glad to see you dropped in. Lord have mercy girlfriend it's still BEEN HOT HERE AS WELL. ha ha LOL They say maybe this weekend we have cold air coming in the high 60s---that will be so refreshing and I can't wait! Enjoyed this post...love all the kid's adorable costumes and sure got a kick out of the doggie's costume too! Looks like y'all had a super fun evening and we did too!--spent much like y'all---enjoying our sweet little granddaughter and having her "trickortreat" us. You have yourself a great Wednesday okay?--don't forget if you like country music the CMA'S are on tonite!
ReplyDeleteYou are such good grandparents, really the best
ReplyDeleteI am just to tired to spend an entire day with my 4 youngest grandsons any day.
I went to their house for a Halloween party and I think there was about 30-35 people including parents.
Your quads looked so adorable in their little costumes and I love seeing Grandpa read to them.
They have such a good life with you and Louis Dean as special grandparents
What a lovely time the quads had at Hallowe'en! My boys used to like it when they were little, but are no longer interested, apart from seeing it as the last hurdle before christmas! We are also blessed with lovely neighbours. It makes day to day life very pleasant to have nice folks next door X
