Planning Art Projects......

It's been weeks since I last did art and I am getting antsy to smell the turpentine and start painting again! Ever since the first of August I have wanted to paint some sunflowers.

Ruth Ann and I shopped Michael's some weeks back and I bought a couple of linen canvases at 90% off.

I think the sunflowers will look good on them.

While Summer and I were down at the camper, we shopped Virginia's Thrift Shop in Mart and I found a couple of art books for $0.50 each!!
While I paint in oils and not acrylics, I still snapped both of these up because of the patterns.
Win! WIN!!!

Another project I've had in mind is this picture of my step son's truck.
It burned back in May just as he came in the gate.
Burned right down to the tires.
Thankfully, Dean got out and rescued his dog, Rufus.
Unfortunately, he lost a lot of his tools and all the 'stuff' you carry around in your truck.

I took this photo when we were down there after my toe surgery.
At last I have the canvas ready to paint.

I debated whether to do a Santa this year. My Santa wall is full but I suppose there's always room for one more. Plus my family counts on a Santa Painting at our Chinese Christmas Tree on Christmas morning.

This is the one I chose. It is by artist Jack Sorenson.
He has done many Cowboy style Santas.
I thought Louis Dean would get a kick out of this one.

My kitchen is now clean!
I am making my way through the house!

I decided to string up those orange lights around the kitchen pond instead of the front porch.
Easier to throw them up here and take down.
I have a few more stands to hang in the back area after LD gets them all working.

This afternoon we ate a late lunch/early supper around 3:00 and by the time I finished eating, I could hardly hold my eyes open. I slipped into bed and slept for two sold hours.
What a blessing to be able to nap anytime I want!
When I woke up, I noticed that Louis Dean had gone to sleep in the guest room.
That means it's nearly midnight and we are getting our second wind.
We are going to let it blow out on the driveway over a glass of wine.

  6. The new Santa is so cool, I know Louis Dean will love him! I know you will do a terrific job. We both really enjoy the freedom to nap whenever we want. I cannot wait to see your sunflower paintings on these linen canvases. The color of them is so much like Fall. The only Mart around here is Wal!

  11. You are so lucky to be able to nap. I can't during the daytime - a nap today would have been good since I was kept awake for several hours overnight with howling winds. Have fun with the sunflowers. Cheers

  13. I've always loved your paintings, Linda...the painting you will do of the truck will be an amazing gift for your stepson.

I am truly exhausted lately. I really hope it's the medicine I'm taking for the immune deficiency. I end it September 1. I went to bed at 11:00 last night. got up at 11:30, took a 2 hour nap at 4:00 and am having coffee to keep my eyes from closing now at 9:00 p.m. I feel like a lout most of the time. I pray its the meds. Still, it makes me feel so not alone to know you guys take naps, too!
