The days we spend down here in our camper are slower in pace than our days at home.
Morning housework takes less than 30 minutes! I straighten the covers on the little sofa, fluff the pillows, make the bed, and wipe down the counters and freshen up the bathroom.
I keep myself occupied by reading and writing while Louis Dean tends to have small projects to work on. He lowers the awning every morning and rolls it up as night settles in so we can look up at the stars. As soon as we finish our last cup of coffee, I wash the pots - we have his and hers! - and prepare them for the next morning. Whoever wakes up first switches them on.
Today's project for Louis Dean was replacing the inner tubes on his bicycle.
This required going into 'town.'

While we were in Mart, we decided to stop in at Leon Junction.
This shop is chock full of crafts and junk and antiques!
My kind of place!!!
I love gardens that have that overgrown English look about them and I love antique/junk shops where every nook and cranny is full to overflowing!
I loved all the signs!!!
And spurs!!! I still have a pair of Amber's spurs from when she took riding lessons as a child.
I should find them and display them in a Texas theme when I get home!
Everyone needs to be reminded to do more living, loving amd laughing from time to time!!
After visiting this shop, I have an urgency to get home and paint the guest room dresser!!
I also need to make some more signs!
Louis Dean had gone in search of bicycle parts so I browsed around to my heart's content.
I heard him when he came in!
"I'm looking for my WIFE but I think I see her!!"
These signs are on the ceiling!
I've never thought about decorating the CEILINGS before!
Time is flying by even as our days seem to meander on their own.
This is the end of our fourth day here and we have four more days!
My personal favorite in this shop was the lace/rag garland.
There were several of these draped around displays.
I can totally see a long one draped across the mirror above our bed.
We decided to get hamburgers before going back to the ranch.
Berger's Dairy Cream has the BEST!
Homemade fries and okra, too!!
There's even a place to sit and eat!
We were loaned a fly swatter! Only in Texas!
I really like this wall art!
I'm thinking of painting a small fence that is by the sandbox in the back yard white and letting the grandkids paint flowers on it!

Louis Dean was a happy man!!
He couldn't even FINISH his burger so he brought the rest of it home and ate it for dinner tonight!
This is my haul from the shops today.
I always stop in at Virginia's Flea Market to see what I can find and there she was!
A dollhead to repair one that accidently broke last week.
Trystan was devastated when she dropped the doll and cried, "I broke her FACE!"
Granddad promised her he would fix it and so he will!
An 8 oz candle that will burn 40 hours was my choice purchase at Leon Junction.
The napkin rings and a book titled 'Kitchen Junk' rounded out my purchases!
In keeping with our slower lifestyle, we came back to the camper and took a good long rest!
We are still on Season Three of LOST and about halfway through.

We like to come out after the sun starts to go down behind the camper to enjoy all the changes that happen as day turns into night.
Another day in the country!

ReplyDeleteI would love to go to that store! And I like the painting on the bricks at Dairy Cream. What a great idea to have the Quads paint your wall. Each one can paint a section, then print their name. HOW did you come by that big deck beside the camper?? How is your foot doing?

ReplyDeleteI love the rag garlands too Linda. I have one that I made for Christmas so it will show up on the blog in December but I am thinking I might just need more.lol Is there anything as relaxing as sitting out side and watching the sunset? I think not.

ReplyDeleteOh my, that junk shop is a treasure. You surely have enough debris in your sewing room to make a lace/rag swag, probably several. The next thing we know you'll have LD climbing a ladder to put debris on your ceilings! I laughed seeing all that rusty farm equipment. That's small town living for you. The thing is if you live there you never notice it. It never occurs to anybody to haul it off. Never occurs to anybody the town would look nice without rusty old farm equipment. Even the ladies running around planting crepe myrtles seem not to notice. Another fun post, and a little piece of Texas for me with my morning coffee. Oh, one thing, how do you keep your camper cool in hot weather? Isn't it like being baked in a tin can?
