I think I am about as ready as I will ever be!
The house is clean!
Fresh sheets are on both our bed and the guest bed.
I baked a batch of spiced pumpkin muffins for the hospital staff tomorrow.
Louis Dean informed me the Kitchen Aid mixer was wearing a lighted wreath!
It fell from its spot up over the kitchen sink and landed nicely!
A dear friend who just happens to be an excellent physical therapist came to visit.
She has worked with my doctor and said he is very, very good.
She also explained to me a little more about what to expect and I feel better for her visit!
Our daughters were synchronized swimming partners for several years so our relationship goes way back to the 1990's!
We have a young lady in our family that just keeps everyone smiling!!!
She is Sherry's daughter and is a real gem!
This is her dog, Capone, Dearly BELOVED dog, I might add!!
He has been doing his business where he SHOULD NOT be doing it so, after checking him out with her vet and being assured there is nothing WRONG with him physically, she took matters into her own hands!
I saw this and just laughed and laughed!!!
Then I showed it to Louis Dean and laughed some more!
That should 'Learn him - durn him!!!' as my mother used to say!
Tonight I fixed the last meal I will be preparing for awhile - Taco Salad!
LD is a great cook and I think he is itching to have the kitchen all to himself!
I am all ready to go to bed and then wake up and get this thing done - or as the quads say - Let's DO this thing! Alas, today was a Quadless Wednesday and as Logan says, "I am sad about them," which means I MISS THEM!
I was so happy to learn that the nothing to eat or drink after midnight REALLY means that I can have nothing to eat after midnight but can drink water from midnight to 7:00 in the morning.
Perfect as I am a heavy drinker!!!! It would be hard to go without water that long!
The surgery is scheduled for 12:35 so I hope to be home before traffic - but Louis Dean can handle it if we aren't.
I truly appreciate all the kind thoughts and well wishes and prayers.
This is not what I would call a serious surgery but it's not entirely routine either.
The doctor will have to remove the artificial big toe joint in my right toe which has gravitated downwards into my bones. Then he will put in an extender to lengthen my toe to a more normal length. This will all be fused together and a metal plate with four screws will hold it all flat so my toe which now sticks up in the air will soon be lying flat on the ground just as it should be!
There is the little matter of PAIN for the next month but it will be worth it once it is all said and done.
Of course, once I heal from THIS toe surgery, I will have another one just like it on my LEFT big toe!!
Love and prayers to all of you, my friends and family!
I will check in again as soon as I can!
Dear Linda, I know everything will be fine. You will be so happy you did this. Many prayers will be going up for you. Please let us know how you are doing as soon as you can.
