It was a cold Tuesday here so I made us a nice winter breakfast!
Hot oatmeal, thick slices of bacon, buttered toast and lots and lots of hot coffee!!
That got us off to a good start!
We ate, watched news and then did our Bible reading followed by Day #6 of our Karate exercises!
Our Little Maddie is just so pretty!!
I like taking pictures of her!
She's a funny cat! I tried to take a pic of her staring straight the the photo of Benjamin.
She sat and stared for the longest time!
January and even February are strange months to me. I feel like the year really hasn't started yet.
It's a little like I'm in limbo or something! Today was cold and cloudy and blah.
I decided to get up and out!! I love Facebook where you can touch base with friends and make spur of the moment plans! That's exactly what I did!
My friend, Virginia, and I shopped Goodwill and then we walked over to What a Burger for a little lunch! We just had the best visit and I felt more alive and less 'duh' for getting out of the house and spending time with a friend.
Here's what I bought!
No debris! Just clothes!!
I love white pants and these are a favorite brand!
Another pair of white pants!
Chico's are super comfy! I could SLEEP in these!!!
The photo doesn't do this justice! I should have hung it on a hanger but I was in a hurry!
Super soft sweater with matching scarf!
Virginia went off to do her errands and I headed to downtown Irving to On the Boulevard -
a gift shop my friend, Debbie, and her mom have a booth in!
It's a small world because I was telling Virginia about the shop and she said her son went to school with Debbie's husband!
Kailey would look cute in one of these outfits!
I loved this sewing wreath made from old quilt scraps!
A heart shaped pan will be perfect to make Valentine Brownies in!!!
This is where I hung the wreath - in the sewing room, of course!
It was 4:30 before I got home but I went straight to work!
The last big Christmas Tree in the house is now all packed away!
It's my favorite with red cardinals!
It made me a tiny bit sad to unplug the lights and close the lid.
Tomorrow I think I will let the quads help me take the decorations down from the gazebo.
I went out there this evening and the squirrels have been doing all manner of damage!
They have chewed large holes in the canopy and even chewed through a strand or red wooden 'Berry' beads so they are strewn all over the place!!
When we replaced the cover on the gazebo the last time we bought TWO! Good thing!
Tonight Sherry and her sister, Cindy, came over to visit while I worked on the painting I'm doing for my brother's birthday! They are the BEST when it comes to critiquing art and they helped me stay on track! It's not quite finished but I believe I can do it in one more session! Not sure if that will happen before Saturday or not! That's when I had planned to give it to him!
Well, this day is done. I changed the sheets tonight and there's just nothing in the world as luxurious as sliding into a freshly made bed! I sprayed the sheet and pillowcase - my side only! - with some fragrance from Bath and Body Works and turned the electric blanket on.
Ahhhhh.....I can hardly wait to crawl in!!!
Sleep tight. You have a busy day ahead of you tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and busy day. Love the shots of Maddie. And you are right, nothing like clean sheets, and a fragrance to boot. Sweet Dreamsw.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and heartfelt birthday gift! You are so very talented with your artists brush! Stay warm...going to be a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I had to laugh at your comment about clean sheets. Every night after I have changed the sheets, I climb into bed and thank God for Clean Sheets! Marvin waits for me to say it every Tuesday night. But I do thank HIM for clean sheets, a soft bed and a warm home. I am truly blessed. So glad you had a fun day with friends. It really is like getting recharged for me...I need my buddies.
ReplyDeleteI like the smell and feel of clean sheets too. Sweet dreams, Linda!
ReplyDeleteNothing finer than a cozy bed with fresh sheets. I do ours on Saturday. My happy homemaker moment...it's my favorite chore.
ReplyDeleteYou describe a fun day where you took charge and chased any gloomies away. Nothing like retail therapy and a burger with a friend.
Love what you are doing with the pet portrait!
LInda, So glad you had some time with your friend. And you tackled that tree. You'll have everything done before you know it. I know what you mean about this month...it's almost gone and it just seems strange that a month has gotten away already...of course you know I count the days till spring. LOL. I love your cat . I am really liking the dog painting. Your brother will be crazy for it. Blessings to you and LD. xoxo, love you guys, Susie
ReplyDeleteglad you got out and kicked those blues to the curb. and of course you found all those bargains that seem to jump right into your arms. darn squirrels, they really make a mess
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing nicer than fresh bed linen! I love to hang mine outside in good weather - heaven on a mattress!
ReplyDeleteWow you sure did get some great bargains !!!! You will have to model a few outfits for us perdy lady !!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are beautiful! Great gift!!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh squirrels in your back yard! We don't have any squirrels! Don't be sad about Christmas being over - just be happy it's not that far away! Cheers from Carole's Chatter
ReplyDeleteAs always...you pack a lot into your day! I agree...there's nothing like clean sheets at the end of the day.
ReplyDeleteYour painting is looking pretty good and I'm sure your brother will treasure it. You really have quite the talent. The wreath you bought is so cute, too. It was a great idea to put it in your sewing room.
ReplyDeleteStay warm... :)
Sounds like that was a great day! I, too, washed my sheets yesterday....but I didn't spray any delicious scent on mine before my afternoon nap. I love fresh sheets off the clothesline. Another good shopping day. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful breakfast...I know it's the best time to indulge but I gained a few pounds looking at it! How do you stay so tiny?
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun day...I'm trying to initiate time with friends and family---I get so cooped up because I really don't put myself 'out there'. So I'm turning a new leaf. Love your pretty finds! :)
You saved the best Christmas tree for last! Do you decorate for Valentine's Day?
Jane
Sometimes it's good just to get out the house and brighten your mood. Glad your day improved Linda X
