Louis Dean had his follow up appointment with his primary care doctor this morning.
It was just routine she advised him to pace himself and not work so hard for so long. Take more breaks and rest often. He said he was embarrassed that he went to the ER and yet his heart checked out good! I was RELIEVED! Every single one of his doctors have told him it's better to be safe than sorry! I am so grateful to know his heart is holding up well after having stints put in back in 2009 and 2011. He is pumping right along!!
It was a beautiful day in Texas!
Our leaves are falling in earnest now and the air is on the chilly side.
I wore a denim over shirt all day!
The quads arrived around 11:30 or so - close to lunch time.
I served potato soup with bacon! I spread each slice with yellow mustard and sprinkled them with brown sugar and baked in the oven. Delicious! Not one bite was left!
Since the rain has ended we have been trying to redeem the side decks!
We straightened the upper deck so we could eat lunch outside on this glorious November day!
Since it was cool enough, I had a fire burning in the den and fixed four little pallets for four little people. The lights were turned off and Louis Dean and I sat on the couch visiting quietly while waiting for them to go to sleep. Harrison dropped right off and after a half hour Logan and Kailey were asleep.
There must have been a small pea under this little princess because it took her FOREVER! I thought she was never going to nap! Finally she went to sleep - wait for it! - JUST as two of the others were waking up!!!! I must tell you, this MeeMaw MISSED her nap!!!!
We were back outside as soon as they woke up - two by two!
Louis Dean is good at projects but relies on me to lead in the clean up.
I am bound and determined to get the decks somewhat back in shape before bringing my friend, Jutta, home with me next Wednesday!
By the way, she is loving Galveston and we spoke on the phone for the very first time!
I am loving being in the same time zone! We talk often through emails and have been doing that for years! So much so that when I meet her for the very first time, I am certain it will be be like seeing a dear friend again!
It is now safe to empty those sand bags that had been lined up in front of the kitchen French doors!
The quads supervised Granddad as he poured them all BACK into their sandbox!
Then they promptly took off their shoes and crawled in!!
Granddad held court in the gazebo! It was a busy place today!!
Slowly but surely we are making some progress!
We enjoyed fires both inside and out today!
The quads were gone by 7:30 and I am crying 'Uncle' and calling this a day!!!
I love reading about your Wednesdays. Sorry you didn't get your nap, but you sure did get a lot done. I've got to try making my bacon that way.
ReplyDeleteLinda, your photos are always so heartwarming! :)
ReplyDeleteYum- that soup looks delicious! I love potato soup though. Actually I love Fall/Winter Weather just for the soups and stews!
ReplyDeleteSorry you didn't get a nap. I did manage to eek in about a 30 minute one today.
So happy all is ok with his heart! Looks like a delicious soup and I bet they have such a great time at your home and make so many great memories!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jill
Good to hear that LD's heart is doing well. A fun day with the quads. You have cooked a delicious meal for everyone.
ReplyDeleteI love your quad days. Your home is warm and inviting, and I am certain that the kids will have wonderful memories of spending these days with you!
ReplyDeleteDeanna
LOVE IT ALL! Y'all are the best grandparents. These little precious children will have such wonderful memories of their days at your home! Wishing you both a lovely weekend...busy days right now!
ReplyDeleteOh Linda, I've so missed coming every day to your house and life. Life got in the way at our house for a while and I just couldn't get to the computer. Things have slowed down, and finally I feel like a sorta normal is here. (What ever normal is...Erma Bombeck said it was a setting on the dryer. HaHa)
ReplyDeleteSo glad LD heart is strong and doing good. Love you day with the quads, and was wondering what was on top of that potato soup. Goodness that bacon sounds good.... I will try that.
My dearest is having lunch with a friend, so I'm using the quiet time to visit some blog friends.
Love you tons, and loved your Santa Paintings. I'm glad we are friends that both love our lives.
PS...love your header painting...you are such a fabulous artist.
ReplyDeleteI am a little bit jealous over that fire pit. i love it. and i like the sand box of Quads and your cozy gazebo and i agree, better safe than sorry with heart problems.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I am so thankful that LD had a good report and that he is doing well. I know the kids must wear you out at times. Emma was just one and ran me ragged at times. Many times I told her I your grandmother...not your maid...please put your dish in the sink. LOL. I love how well Amber's children eat at your house and never turn their noses up. That is a big plus. Blessings to all, love you, Susie
ReplyDeleteIf my hubby did projects around the house I'd gladly clean up after him too. I;m not sure who is more blessed by their presence - you or the quads. Glad LD's heart is pumping away.
ReplyDeleteWonderful report! Now when Louis Dean learns this new trick of pacing himself all will be well. The quads were so cute watching the sand go back in the sandbox. I remember when they first realized that something was going on with their sand! Hope that you had a good night's rest and a relaxing Thursday.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Trystan was waiting for y'all to close your eyes. I mean she doesn't want to miss anything. ;o) She looked tired.
